  1. Lisa, I hope you get your fb sorted out. Were you able to get the groupon anyways?
  2. Greysgirl, Thanks for the suggestion. I would love the recipe. How far ahead can I make them?
  3. Lisa, I sent you the link on fb. But here it is for anyone else. http://www.groupon.com/deals/mixbook-st-catherines?utm_campaign=UserReferral&utm_medium=email&utm_source=uu22566076
  4. Good morning ladies. I just wanted to let you all know that there is a groupon for mixbook today. I know I want to get a few albums done, so this should work out well. It's $15 for $50 value.
  5. scarletbride, Why can't your sister go even with the little one? After all, she might as well get the baby to travel while she doesn't have to pay extra fees. I know my nephew had been to Mexico twice before he was 6 months old, and had flown pretty much every month of his life.
  6. Congratulations Seaprincess, I hope you have a healthy pregnancy. Tish, that is a wonderful story. I think when it's our turn I will want to keep it secret for a while longer. Knowing our moms, once they find out we might as well publish it in the paper. It is so great to hear the success stories and offer our support.
  7. The event board for the sunrise lobby is between the Bugambilias and Gondola restaurants. They also post a daily "tonight's event" poster at the main entrance to the lobby. For the pool side events, there is also an entertainment schedule posted daily. As a hint, "crazy time" is usually a drinking contest.
  8. We had 30 people at our private reception. I chose a private reception so that we could have our own decor and not have to worry about onlookers. We also had enough room nights booked, that we didn't have to pay extra for the private event. Our package included a restaurant reception, which we used for our welcome dinner two nights before our wedding. It was nice having everyone at the same table, and there wasn't many others at the restaurant. I think if we had chosen a busier restaurant it would have been awkward. It was actually kind of funny because when we walked in, the wait staff all lined up and applauded us. I am certainly glad we had the private reception, but if we had to pay the $2K I might have reconsidered. Having it private also meant we had to buy decor and favors, and also pay to have a speaker system. I think I was just so happy about our wedding.
  9. Tish congratulations! Wow, I guess it was lucky to be part of the April 2011 brides group because you are the second mommy-to-be. I don't know if you can wait for Sunday but maybe you could surprise him with a Father's Day gift? I know it's tough reading how some people conceive right away while others have a longer wait. I think it's best to consider it as waiting for the perfect one. And once they arrive, it is worth the wait. I hope more of us can make this exciting announcement soon. Lots of hugs, health and happiness!
  10. Scarletbride, I really hope everything works out for you. It is really difficult to have be able to afford a wedding and you are right that this is probably your only option for getting everything like a beautiful wedding in a gorgeous setting, a romantic honeymoon and an unforgettable family vacation for much less than a wedding at home. And you get a coordinator to help you through the whole process, that alone could cost thousands at home. You have given your guests plenty of advance notice and hopefully they will come through for you. I know the people I thought would never come up with the money were at our wedding, and some people that should have been able to afford it made sad excuses not to go. Don't let this ruin your dream wedding day. I also don't get how some people have huge wedding groups, but there's a whole variety and it shouldn't matter what someone else is doing. Enjoy looking forward to the day where you and your FI say "I Do."
  11. Welcome Back Lisa! I accepted your fb request, so I can't wait to see your amazing pictures. I think if you get your pictures this week you should still have time to have a photo book done, or at least some pro pics to display. Lesee, you look great and your hubby is all smiles!
  12. The 21st is better for me. The earliest I can make it there is probably 6:30.
  13. Jacki - we had an uneven bridal party, 2 BM, 3 GM. I also had the issue of my MoH being single and my sister wanting to sit with her husband and their son. Eventually, I decided that we would have a sweetheart table, to ensure that we could talk to each other and not feel pressure of sitting with others. We only had 30 people, but still a mix of family, friends, and coworkers. I just set up table of people that I knew needed/wanted to be together and filled in the blank spots. I think that's the best any bride can do.
  14. It looks beautiful. I'm still so mad at myself for screwing up and not getting it into my bouquet! I even tried it at home before we left and meant to take a picture then just in case. Oh well, I hope it made it safely to the next bride. Kelly, is there anyway that when you get it back I can read what everyone else wrote in the journal?
  15. Meggers, it's great that your hubby got involved and helped ease some stress. And good job making the cupcake stands. I thought about trying to tackle that project, but I figure that if I combine what I have and what my mom has, we should have enough. Erin, I hope your morning sickness doesn't last very long. Our AHR is five weeks away, so I really need to get going on these things. The photographers have finished up our photo book so now we just have to figure out if we want anything changed. I hope it gets completed before our AHR!
  16. Elese - Glad you had a wonderful time. And now hopefully, you can relax a bit. Laura - That sounds like a good idea. I'm glad you found some vases you like. I have slowly started collecting glass vases for our dessert bar. I've also decided not to do a multi tiered cake. We will just serve the dessert that is on the menu and I'm going to make a small cake for decoration only. Now to start baking stuff for the freezer and deciding what other sweet and/or savory items to include. Since we are expecting about 70 people, I think I would like to have 10 different items. Here's my list so far if anyone has suggestions: Cupcakes Cake Balls Chocolate Dipped Pretzels Kettle Style Popcorn Homemade Marshmallows Macarons
  17. Papercircle is amazing. I really loved the hand written note. Fast and affordable delivery too.
  18. Laura - There is a sale on glass vases at Michaels' this week. They are 2 for $7. Hopefully you can find what you are looking for.
  19. Laura, I'll keep my eyes open.
  20. I like either one, but Jack Astors is usually louder so maybe Moxie's is best?
  21. Definitely check out office supply stores as well, I paid $15 for 40 invites with RSVPs and envelopes.
  22. Meggers, here's the link to the costco bulk flowers. http://www.costco.ca/Common/Category.aspx?ec=BCCA-EC20993-Cat22403&pos=1&whse=BCCA&topnav=&cat=23279&eCat=BCCA|20418|22403|23279&lang=en-CA They have roses, hydrangeas and gerberas. Laura, do you have a picture of what you want? The only option I can think of is dollar stores.
  23. The only cans are the ones from the in-room bar. Drinks from the bars and waitresses are served in small plastic cups. I saw a few people with bubba kegs, but I'm not sure how they got filled. We pretty much hung out right at the bars so we didn't have trouble getting fresh, cold drinks every couple of minutes. It also allowed us to do the "around the world" tour when we would either start at the top or bottom of the drink list and work our way to the other end. Mmmm.... electric lemonade. It all depends on how you booked. For members that book 7 nights, transfers are included. Everyone else had to pay $26 pp round trip. Some people that booked with TA's had their transfers included. Do you have any decor ideas or colors? Make sure you compare picture quality and not just price. Smile Market (resort) does nice pictures but don't expect anything original. La Luna looks like they have a completely different style from what the resort would offer. I would focus on getting photography settled, because you don't want to miss out if they get booked by someone else.
  24. ERIN CONGRATULATIONS! That is amazing news, so exciting. Big Hugs to you and your hubby! Laura, I have the same worry that some people may forget to pass on their RSVPs. I just put our invites in the mail, so we shall see who calls us to confirm. For centerpieces, I noticed the other day that you can buy roses in bulk from Costco online. I'm starting to be concerned about our AHR as well. I got an email yesterday from the restaurant asking if we were excited and wondering when we would like to come for our planning meeting. I wrote back that we were enjoying being newlyweds since we got married last month. I also reminded her that I was not taking a holiday from work and driving 6 hours each way for a one hour meeting to confirm menus and timelines. I'm pretty sure that I was able to plan an entire wedding week in another country via email! Here's a hint, make notes about your customer before you send them an email.
  25. JLCarrera, I'm still trying to plan our AHR, so I come on here to look for ideas. I also know how lost you can sometimes feel with the lack of contact with the resort so I try to offer my input. Merry Lee, your guests will probably have better luck finding a seashell in the gift shop. Also, they don't want you to bring your own camera on ziplining. I brought ours anyways and it was really hard to get a picture because you move so fast. They do take a picture of each person at one of the stations and you can purchase it for $10. Maybe a picture of a guest drinking the cocktail of the day with the sign?
