  1. 20K is a pretty great budget, so have no fear, everything will work out.
  2. I would not recommend a few day cruise around Maui, what I would recommend is doing some day trips instead. For example, you can book a day trip to snorkel in Molokai for about $80.00, and there are so many things to do in Maui, such as the road to Hana, a trip up to the crater of Haleakala, Sea Turtle excursions, visiting the seven sacred pools. Unless you really wanted to go to the other islands such as Kauai, then it may not be worth a cruise. And I have also heard the complaint that the cruise lines are not up to par with the other cruise lines, and there are so many people that get off in Kahului and they never leave the town because they are afraid of missing loading time, so they go to the shopping mall and check out the local Starbucks.
  3. Jen, Maui is a beautiful place to get married. There are some regulations around the public beaches. If you are getting married on the beach there are no chairs allowed, it becomes an issue of insurance. You have to make sure the officiant or your wedding coordinator has a permit for the beaches also. If you were looking for a grassy area by the beach, I would suggest maybe going for a condo rental in Lahaina where they have some private properties that back out onto the beach. They are inexpensive and are really great for weddings where there are chairs.
  4. The four seasons has a place called Duo. There is Stella Blues Cafe also. There are a few places. Home Maid Cafe is really great too. What you can do is when you get out there you can ask where the best brunch spots are for 30 people.
  5. Ka'anapali Beach is really nice. Black rock is really great to go snorkeling in, however, I have found that it is way too much like a tourist resort. The best place to see Sea Turtles is outside of Little Beach (Makena Beach). I would look at VRBO for Lahaina, Kihei or if you want a really quiet and peaceful place away from the normal tourist traps, I would also check out Pai'a or Haiku. If you do go to Ka'anapali, there is no doubt it is beautiful, but be prepared for the beach crowds that are mostly tourists. Be prepared to pay a lot of money for things. For example, right beside Black Rock to rent snorkeling gear, it is 15.00/day, where as if you are in Lahaina (right outside the Safeway) there is a surf shop that rents them for 2.50/day. If you want some beach pictures check out Nora's (from norasphotos.com) blog: You can see the different sunsets from different places. She also lives in Maui, so if you have any questions, she is a really good contact.
  6. Wow, you had already booked? Awww. I hope that it works out!
  7. we are using Nora also, and she is really fabulous to deal with. She did some headshots for me already, and I recommend her to anybody looking for a wedding photographer.
  8. barefeet is the way to go!! Plus it is just cute!!
  9. wooo wooo! I look at your pictures all the time in excitement for my own shoot with Nora. Ha! And I am blown away at how amazing her prices are also.
  10. Iberostar Laguna Azul is such a beautiful place also. It might be worth the wait.
  11. I really like this hotel, and what I like is that it is not close to the main area of the beach, it is closer to the end, so it is a little bit quieter. The hotel staff are really great too, pleasant and friendly, and there are some great resto's around the corner from the hotel. The price is quite nice too.
  12. congrats and welcome to the forum. You will find so much information here!
  13. It also depends on how many pictures you want of just you and your hubby. If you wanted to go to a couple of locations, obviously you will need more time. If you wanted to just do one location, it won't take as much timel. Perhaps contact the photographer to see what they feel is best for the timeline for your pictures.
  14. Wow, everything sounds so amazing. I am glad you had such an amazing experience.
