  1. So far, I've been using different offers to get stuff. I usually get an email around once a week with different freebies. The UK site will only allow you to get 4 free items per order, so, as my wedding is still almost two years away, I just get 4 items each time and then wait for the next email to come. I think I've seen people on here use the same email a couple of times though (i.e. if you're only allowed 4 things, but you need 8, just do 2 separate orders), so that might work, although there'd obviously be 2 lots of shipping to pay.
  2. I think the more you order, the more often they'll send you emails. That seems to be the case with the UK version anyway. I think they sent me a freebie email after a few days as I've made three or four orders and have never paid for anything (other than shipping) so I must have had one at some point!
  3. We're going to keep the same colours, but it's not really so I can reuse things, just that it's both our favourite colour! I'm hoping the BMs will wear their dresses again and the men will wear their suits, so the colour is there, but I don't think there's really anything else that I can reuse.
  4. I've been wondering this. I don't want guests at our DW to feel obliged to get us a gift as they will have spent enough to come out there. However, if they want to give us a gift, I'm not going to say no! So, I'm not really sure how to word it. Perhaps I should put nothing?
  5. I really don't think people understand the cost of a wedding until they've planned one. Of course, you can't expect people to go on a holiday by themselves, but there is no way that I am inviting random flings to my wedding.
  6. Glad to know I'm not the only one! Mine isn't quite so bad as we have sent out boarding pass STDs and have asked for an RSVP, just for an idea of numbers. We sent out 140 STDs and have had around 20 back. They were sent out in August, with a deadline of 1st November. Unless we have 120 responses in the next 3 weeks, I'll be doing some chasing. Some of FI's friends have said they didn't think they had to return the slip. Why do they think we included a self addressed envelope? Idiots.
  7. Thanks Oscar_Ernie. Perhaps Vistaprint lost too much money from all the BDW brides ordering so much stuff! I'm really un-crafty and some of the girls on here put me to shame! Oh well, I think my guests will be pleased to receive whatever I manage to knock together, but I'd be really grateful if someone did have a template. Thanks in advance.
  8. I've just placed my second Vistaprint order. Unfortunately, the UK version only allows you to add 4 free items to your bag at the same time and I think shipping is a bit more expensive than in the US. I got really frustrated first time round cos I tried to add more than 4 free items and it kept charging me! My first order was: 100 free postcards (to put in OOT bags for guests to send to us, will add a stamp when we arrive) 25 free magnets (I think they're a bit corny but it's a little extra) 1 free pen 250 free business cards that I'd planned on using for OOT bag tags, but I'm not really happy with how they turned out, so will try again! My second order is: 1 free tote. Have just included a palm tree logo and the city/country and month/year. another free pen 1 free set of sticky notes 1 free hard cover note book I think our offers in the UK are different. I've never received a free shipping offer and I've never received a free upload offer. I think the pre-travel brochures people have posted on here are great! Did you design the template in Word/Publisher and then upload to VP?
  9. I've been discussing this recently with my FSILs. I thought it might be impolite but they said the opposite. We'll be having our main hen/stag once we get to our destination, but FSILs suggested that some people who can't make the wedding for wahtever reason wouldn't also want to miss out on the hen party!
  10. Oh poor you Diva! FI and I were apart for the first year of our relationship. In fact, we met just one month before I was due to move across the country for work (granted, my country is not quite as big as yours!). The "end date" was supposed to be 2 years, but I couldn't handle all the travelling, so moved back earlier. You say it's at least 3 months, how much longer might it be? The good thing is that you have an end point and something to look forward to.
  11. JanineA - that's interesting to hear that you managed to get a group booking discount even though people weren't travelling on teh same day. I'm getting married in Australia and, as it's the other side of the world (literally!) a lot of our guests will be taking a holiday of a lifetime and including our wedding in that. So, they may be going out a month before, stopping off in Hong Kong etc on the way, so it wouldn't be practical for me to arrange a group booking as people won't be going out teh same day. There are a couple of major airlines that fly to Australia, so it's worth looking into. Thanks for teh tip!
  12. I was planning on doing this but something came up to eat up the money! Both of our salaries go into a joint account and we pay all bills and have spending money from this account. Anything left over at the end of the month goes to pay off credit cards (still a fair amount on there from when we bought our house and had to buy all the furniture etc). I had been paying off my student overdraft at £200 a month and, now that's paid off, I had planned on continuing the £200 and putting it into an extra fund. Our main wedding fund is coming from our parents, but you never know when you might need a bit extra. But our tenant moved out of FI's old house, so it's up for sale, so we're having to pay £300 mortgage and £100 council tax a month on an empty house
  13. They are really beautiful! Your guests will love them.
