  2. As roo66 says we have this programme here in the UK and there is always a biiiattcchhh who usually wins. There is also always one wedding which makes you think 'what were they thinking' - highly addicitive and a great laugh even if you are not planning a wedding.
  3. Love them - v vintage - i really think the postcard idea is original and the way to go :-)

To me, that was just too much. These are really cute - but i think your hotel is really cheeky!! Thats way to much. I would put them in my OOT bag with a little note explaining they are a favour or wrap them in tissue paper and hand them to your guests on the day with a thank you tag as you only have a small number of you. This will make it a little more personal.
  5. Yep Happy Mothers Day to all the UK members - think its only MD here tho as when i went to Mexico in May it seemed to be MD for all the US mums when i was there. I think.....
  6. Love these - I have decided on cigars for the men but was unsure how to personalise them and this answers my questions. Great job they look really professional.
  7. Dont banish your friend altogether over this - if she is a good friend life is too short - but i feel your stress - we had loads of people saying yes we will be coming and then dropped out when deposits were due saying they didnt have the money and then booking holidays for themselves - i think its the downside to having a DW. If your mate is having problems pets do provide comfort. Just dont let it stress you out too much and remember this is your day and the people that do come are there is celebrate your day with you - just concentrate on them and you for the time being.
  8. prettypigpig - love the 2nd dress - its so much like one i toyed with and opted with my other choice instead- apparently the grecian look is the 'in' look for the season - which i too am grateful about as i am little worried about the tummy - as i wont be getting married until we have been there 9 days with all that lovely food around!! LOL. Michelle - which one did you go back and look at? If your heart is set on something im sure you will get it one way or the other. A lazy Sunday afternoon in store today so will prob spend hours trawling the net finding more ways to spend our money...... i love it... think im becoming addicted. LOL

Welcome to the forum - you'll be glad you joined..... oh and congratulations.
  10. We are having ours 6 days after we return on 5th Feb in England - so it will be damn cold / prob snowing!!! But I have worded the invites just as astreit has. We are not having the formal sit down meal just more of a party which i think the guest are aware of as our STD are in the style of a postcard from Mexico. I think women will generally wear a party dress anyway whether its winter or summer. I will decorate the venue with shells, photos from the day etc and hope it creates the beach feeling. Think my feet will be cold in my sandals tho!
  11. Hey everyone thanks for your comments re: my dress. Just to have that extra reassurance it was a good choice. Bonnie - great news on reserving the date. With regards to Islepac one of my mates suggested them . Going to look into that idea. Tho joining this website has not helped keep my budget under control - i had never heard of an OOT bag before i joined now im obsesed with them and want to start shopping already! My other half just rolls his eyes - men just dont understand sometimes LOL :-)
  12. Really simple but beautiful - they'll look great
  13. i tend to agree with your guy on this one; just let everyone do their own thing you will probably end up doing quite a few things together without any forward planning. Although the wedding is our most important day we have to remember a lot of guests will have saved hard to be at the wedding so are also treating it as their holiday; not just a wedding.
  14. dress :: Cairo.jpg picture by josietoms - Photobucket Not sure if this will work. This my dress which is in the process of being made. So not what i had in my mind when i went out shopping and its really hard to describe to someone. The bridesmaids and my mum all together said that was 'the one' when i tried it on - its was the last one of the day and again I didnt like it on the hanger; but now I love it. Just hope he does on the day! But would like peoples opinions as it a bit 'different' ie; the pleats.
  15. http://http://i1011.photobucket.com/...ress/Cairo.jpg I dont know if this link will work or not - my 1st attempt. This is a sneaky pic of my dress which is currently being made. When I describe it to everyone ie; the pleats they are v curious but all tell me its really gorgeous once they have seen the picture as its a bit different and so not what I went out to get. But the bridesmaids and my mum all said 'thats the one'. The Swarovski crystal detail is really lovely. Hope you like. I wont be offended it you dont .......
  16. Nicyx - love the website. U should put some more piccies of you 2 on there. I have started doing one as well and have put the address on the bottom of our save the date cards for our AHR; so people who are not coming can still feel involved. Once its all finished as i need to play around with it a bit ill put the link on here. Linhy - i cant see your picture :-(
  17. kurlyks - so pleased for you especially if you have a date.... i have to wait for that.... now you can relax and have all the fun planning. michelle2011 - i have ordered my dress - i went to the national wedding fair @ Olympia and ordered it. So not what I thought I would go for but just knew when i tried it on it was 'the one'. If someone can let me know how up to upload an image ill show you a sneaky peak. Its being made at the moment but takes approx 10 weeks. Thanks for everyones comments re: bridesmaid dresses - am really pleased with the result.
  18. In terms of budget I think this is possible - I am a UK bride travelling from London to Mexico in Jan 2011 and for me and my partner and the wedding package it is £3400 (approx $5000) - but includes full reception, flowers etc - but as 'asbarret has said the benefit with a destination wedding it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. This is for 14 nights and is all inclusive. It just takes hours of research on the internet but you can do it and the choices are endless - shopping around is the key. We have 15 others coming with us and we are not paying for any of them - we explained this right at the start and everyone just said let us know the cost and we will make the decision. As a way of thank you we are just buying some more expensive thank you gifts than we would if we were getting married at home in the UK. If you go low season this would help with costs as well. Hope you find your dream wedding.

Granted, I'm sure that it's completely different when these places are the norm where you live, but we have nothing like them in America, and I'm so jealous that you all do:) I had a friend, who lives in Wales (her husband is in the RAF) but is from Surrey, and her wedding pictures were absolutely to die for. The wedding was at Wedding Venue, Conference Rooms, Deluxe Holiday Accommodation in Witney, Oxfordshire, UK. It made me want to do a DW in the UK!! I guess we are v lucky - but I dont think you always appreciate whats on your doorstep. The only problem with here is the weather - if you had an outside ceremony i think i would die of a heart attack stressing over the weather. LOL! Even in the height of summer. I would love a typical wedding in an English castle but I have to realistic - ironically its still cheaper for 17 of us to travel to Mexico for 2 weeks than have a wedding here. Oxfordshire is a gorgeous part of the world as well. Think me and Michelle are v lucky down here in Kent - its known as the garden of england - apparently!!!
