  1. I know you should let him handle it on his own but what about giving him a deadline?? My cousin had similar issues when planning her wedding w/ her then fiance and it caused such a huge stress on them (not to mention that it screwed up their plans b/c he refused to communicate w/ his side of the family in a timely manner). Guys can be so dense sometimes. It might be worth dragging him to his brother's for a get-together just to make it happen!
  2. I like #2! I think its a lot more original for a beach wedding and you can mix in brighter oranges to kick up the festive look (not to be confused w/ a fall palette).
  3. Oddly enough, I am now getting the timed out message much more frequently than I did before. Not sure why that is. Am I jumping too frequently from post to post? 408 Request Time-out This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout' Thanks again for your all your efforts moderators!!!

Pashminas, not pictured here, but in my thread on pashminas (12 for $27) at pioneer group glass-html I thing they are on 26th between 6th and Broadway, there are so many stores in a 4-6 block radius its rediculous. Hanging lanterns 12 or $27, I could go on and on. THe best thing to do is go down there wearing comfy shoes and walk the area to take it all in. Start near 28th street and 7th avenue and walk over to 6th avenue then down to 27th and walk over to broadway and keep zig zaging going down town from 6th avenue over to broadway and keep repeating until you are down on 23rd street. It will blow your mind the great wedding finds down in that area. If you plan to go on a Saturday morning if, I am free I can meet with you and show you the area... we can bring Classadiva along and make a day of it oooh, thanks for this!!! I'm totally going to check it out this weekend!!! can't wait! Date is coming up soon - very exciting!
  5. I think a ceremony of only 15-20 minutes wouldnt require chairs, especially if you have a party of under 50 people! However... if you are concerned for certain guests, how about bringing a bench (wont sink so much), some fold up chairs or maybe even some big pillows??!
  6. We included a FAQ section on our website and that was the FIRST question we answered!!! That way everyone could hear it from the horse's mouth. We knew certain people would not be able to attend and that was perfectly fine. As long as our closest family members agreed to traveling beforehand, that's all we cared about. We also made it a point to include cheaper hotel options close to the resort for those cost sensitive guests. Knowing that they would pay hotel fares equal to or even cheaper than what they would have paid in the US, I have no qualms about any complaints. I also can't do anything about people's fear of flying and at the end of the day, half of guests would have had to fly b/c my FI and I are from opposite coasts! So at this point I just dont care what anyone has to say

Lalanyc- Is there a specific reason why you chose not to book here after you visited? We won't have a chance to visit first because we had other vacations and friends' weddings coming up. I appreciate everyone's insight!! The only reason we didn't choose this location is b/c we wanted to be in more secluded resort and Le Meridien is located in the Hotel Zone. It was definitely at the top of the list though. Patricia rocks! She's EXTREMELY professional (far more so than many of the other wedding coordinators we interacted with in Cancun) and has years of experience in the hospitality industry. You won't be disappointed w/ the service at Le Meridien.
  8. yes there's a bunch! if she's looking for a more intimate/low key setting, Isla Mujeres would be a good option. While the hotels are not all inclusive, they are small and there are various options for the reception. Otherwise, she may want to look into Ceiba del Mar which as about 80 rooms and the Omni in Puerto Aventuras which has about 30 rooms (there are other hotels nearby to accommodate overflow). There are also several near Tulum but I am not as familar with those. 9. We are not getting married at an all inclusive and while the hotel provides someone to help coordinate, I am thinking I might need someone to help herd the guests from the church, etc. Has anyone paid for help just for the few days around the wedding? If so, was it helpful?

  11. OMG I actually JUST tried on Paloma for the first time yesterday. Beautiful and yes, very light material! Cant wait to try on more!
  12. We are having a Catholic wedding (read: TOO LONG) in the fall so the sun will be setting relatively early - around 5 PM. AND I am seriously weighing the idea of doing a receiving line after the mass b/c I really dont want to have to walk around to every table during dinner. It's so awkward. But the receiving line would cut into the daylight hours and photo time, so I'm debating doing pictures before the mass. Ack so much to think about...
  13. Hmm, yes I could see your point about brides being cheap/overly picky. Especially with a destination wedding, photographers have more limited recourse to collect their payments. Ok I will consider this when we finally negotiate w/ our photographer!
  14. Has anyone negotiated photographer contracts where the final payment is not made until the final copies of the pictures are received (rather than providing full payment by the day of the wedding)? It seems this is more common practice in the US but it makes more sense to me 1) to ensure final/timely delivery of your pictures and 2) to see the quality of the work beforehand so you can assess how much (if any) tip to provide. What do people think?
  15. My only thought is that even in a perfect scenario - where all of your guests stayed at only 2 of the resorts and you stayed at the 3rd - they might still come over to the 3rd resort for the day and run into you (to take advantage of certain amenities, or simply out of curiosity at what the other resort offers). So... that still wouldnt solve your dilemma. Perhaps if you move to a honeymoon suite and schedule private spa sessions for your entire trip or, of course, move to the other side of the island, then you'll be all set!

  17. I'm actually going to the Pronovias store in NYC to try on La Sposa dresses next weekend!! So excited! I'll keep an eye out for the "Label" dress.
  18. You should call them first thing tomorrow morning (assuming the owner never called you) and demand a meeting w/ the owner and the seamstress ASAP so they can fix it. I feel they will be much more responsive if you are there talking (screaming?!) to them in person. I applaud you for keeping your cool initially, but going forward, you have to be very firm or they're going to hope you cool down and forget about it! Also, unless the seamstress is there, it'll be hard to understand how they can fix it w/out her showing you personally (assuming it can be fixed of course). Ugh, I'm so mad for you!!!
  19. I actually visited Le Meridien Cancun a few months ago for a tour and tasting. It was AMAZING!!! While we didnt ultimately choose this location, I cannot say enough about the wedding coordinator, chef and staff. Truly truly top notch. If anyone has any questions about the hotel or my visit, I'd be happy to answer them.

  21. Does anyone have information on DJ Omar?? I havent found any through searches. I understand he previously worked as a DJ at Senor Frogs but I'm interested in learning how well he's done at weddings. Thanks!
  22. I was wondering if it makes sense to keep this thread going (or change the name) if they are no longer offering discounts to BDW members?
  23. If you dont want a wedding factory and are looking for something more intimate, I would suggest the Omni in Puerto Aventuras. It has only 30 rooms and it seems they are willing to negotiate on prices if you are willing to haggle. For instance, you can provide your own liquor and try to negotiate on the corking fees. Of course, this all depends on your budget!
