  1. After seeing so many beautiful boarding pass designs on here I was unhappy with my very simple design. I opted not to include the jacket and just to include a letter instead. I printed the letter on a beach-themed paper and folded the boarding pass inside of it. the guests loved them,... then again, they had never seen anything like it.
  2. I ordered these CMYA bags to be used as my welcome bags. They were super inexpensive ($2.40 each). I also ordered a few of their cooler bags which will hold a few beers or lunch for some of the single guys who will be making the trip to MX. Please let me know your thoughts. Oh, our wedding color is lime green accented in turquoise, so this worked perfectly. The problem is that i have a HUGE box. these will not be easy to transport! I suppose I'll be buying all of the contents to fill these once I arrive in MX. We have 54 ladies coming, so there is no way for me to buy a bunch of stuff ahead of time and transport it all. Tell me what you think of the bags. If you want to buy some from them I'll get you the number to call them directly so that you can save money. I unfortunately paid too much for shipping through Amazon, so don't make the same mistake i made. standard beach bag All three versions. the cotton, the large and small cooler bags Two ways to tie the beach bag
  3. I decided to buy my bags here and buy the contents in Playa or Cancun once I am down there so that i have less to carry. Instead of personalized mugs, koozies, etc... i'll buy stuff that says Mexico, Riviera Maya, etc... I have too many bags (51)
  4. I just got a quote of $300 for 1 hour, but it's not through a resort. I'll get the number tomorrow and reply to you on here. It's the all female band Marie Sam had.

Congratulations! I have never been to the resort, my friend loves it!
  6. Are there any other Akumal brides on here? If you are getting married in Akumal please post here. thanks! Nicole
  7. My wedding coordinator in Akumal told me that the there is a Mariachi band union. So, basically she just orders a mariachi band through this union. Doesn't this sound crazy? Anyway, she said they are all fabulous. I am not so sure about this and am a bit worried. Has anyone else done this? Marie Sam used the same WC as I am, but her friends suggested the mariachi band for her, so i don't know how they did it.
  8. Quick question. Are you planning on Paying for these excursions, or will your guests be paying for themselves? I expect 94 guests, so there is no way for us to pay for a large excursion. However, I would like to offer something "planned" besides our welcome fiesta and wedding/reception. Our welcome dinner is Thursday and wedding on Satuday, so right now Friday is a free day. Any ideas are welcomed. We will be in Akumal which is a small town. I was thinking people who are only there for the long weekend will want to stay in Akumal so I am torn!
  9. So far I have 51 women saying they are attending the wedding. this is too many pashminas for me to carry down to MX unfortunately for me. I really liked this idea, but I don't know how I'd use them. I think 3.75 is a decent price though- good job.
  10. Autumn, I wish I would have read this before I made my wedding logo oval. If it were round the sticker thing would be easier for me i think. hmmm Do you think there is a way to easily get my logos onto stickers? wow, i am really green when it comes to the DIY projects. You are unbelievable. So, you are giving 2 maracas to each guest right? Adorable!
  11. Torywedd, Thanks! I did not know of that store Papersource, but will be sure to check it out. I also have our AHR and shower invites to worry about, so hopefully i will get some ideas there. One more question for you. Can you tell me what your finished size is and what size envelopes you used? It looks like your passports may be around 3.5 x 5, but its difficult to tell in the pics. You fit so much info on there and they look great. I'm starting mine now, but not sure what size. I definitely want to buy standard envelopes. Thanks again! Nicole
  12. I found this helpful. thought i should share just in case you don't have it! http://www.akumal-villas.com/styles/...maya-map09.jpg
  13. It's amazing how sneaky our men can be when they must!! After 11 months of dating and six months of living together Jasin proposed. Amazingly, despite the 45 foot Sea-Ray Jasin chartered, an amazing night-cruise on Lake Michigan, a gourmet-packed picnic basket and the city's amazing fireworks display... I was SHOCKED when it happened! Well, it did help that the the original surprise date was planned for Wednesday and I thought that I was being taken on a Segway tour which was postponed due to inclement weather. The proposal was romantic, sweet and absolutely perfect! Jasin thought of everything! He asked a friend of mine to create a playlist (and didn't tell her what it was for). He asked for an up tempo and slow playlist. And he timed them with the fireworks. The 3rd song during the fireworks that played was Lyle Lovett's "If I had a boat" which is fitting since he's my fave and I love boats. He proposed during that song (after I spilled wine on the boat) during the fireworks display. It was awesome. If you know that song ladies... you know the lyrics say "If I had a boat, I'd sail out on the ocean, and if I had a pony I'd ride it on my boat" I love the ring... but now I keep telling him that I will be expecting a boat for our anniversary. Then a pony. tee, hee. I kid of course, but what was he thinking??
  14. I am creating a mock-up for my passport invites that my friend is going to design. I am thinking a small 8-pager. This is what my thought is, but I would really like to know how you ladies organized yours and what I should include? Cover: Passport Logo Inside Cover: Invitation wording (something clever) Page 1: Passport photo with our names, wedding date and location, time, etc Page 2: Information for Welcome fiesta Page 3: Page 4: Cover 3 (inside back cover) Cover 4: Back cover - wedding logo *some options i think i would like to include are: Map of Akumal, List of area restaurants, Transportation information... .any other suggestions? The pages will be small, but I want to include the important stuff. I don't know why i am struggling with this so much. Also, WHEN should I send them out? Our wedding is 5.29.10 thank you all in advance!! Nicole
  15. I came across this yesterday and wrote it down. I cannot remember what site i found it on, but it's cute for an AHR. Now they are back from their fun in the sun and promised forever to live their lives as one We invite you to celebrate the marriage of ___ and ___ and then the details...
  16. Should I include "beach elegant" attire on the invitation? It's on the website, but i notice that people really don't read.
  17. Love these. WE are exchanging our vows on a fresh water lagoon which goes into the sea... any ideas on creative phrasing for my invites?? please help~! It's the Yal-ku lagoon in Akumal.
  18. Marie Sam, did you give that map on your invites to Anna? Or did she design it for you? I love it! I have a friend who will design my invites, but I love that map! If you have it I'd love not to have to recreate the wheel. Thanks!! Nicole
  19. Ok, here is mine. Just ordered it. It's by Adele Wechsler the lighting is bad in the dressing room. It's an Ivory color and made of silk and hemp.
  20. Aylee Bits :: Aylee on weddings, design, personal finance, travel, photography, the internet and more has the templates. you can download the basic for free, designed version for $10. I used her boarding pass template and it worked well.
  21. I tried on the beach here in chicago last week, but the sand was horrible. ( i thought there was a way to "fake this" - I am also interested. Thanks! they are adorable. I may have to wait for the real thing.
