  1. Wow your pictures turned out fabulous! You look so great in them. I hadn't even thought of doing something like this. My fiance would never expect ithis though so its perfect!
  2. Great website, thanks for the link. I have to admit though that I have done most of the planning and told my fiance about it later. :-)
  3. Congrats and welcome to the forum!
  4. Congrats and welcome. I started my search by reading tons of reviews on here as well as on tripadvisor. There are also a lot of pictures posted which really helped. Beware the forum can get kind of addicting though.
  5. Congrats and welcome to the forum. Good luck with the planning.
  6. Congrats and happy planning.
  7. We are getting married at the RIU resort in the Riviera Maya where they have a strict policy that 80% of the wedding guests need to be staying in the hotel. I also think having the majority of guests at the same resort will be much more fun (and help our very tight budget). Is there a polite way to encourage guests to stay at the wedding hotel without sounding tacky or cheap? I was thinking of putting a note on our website, but I'm having some second thoughts. Any ideas?
  8. We are planning on going with an evite for our AHR because we are really trying to put our budget towards food and drinks for everyone. I hope it doesn't come off as being too casual.
  9. I think your idea sounds like a lot of fun and not tacky at all. We are planning to do an AHR but our DW budget is already over so we may have to scale back to more of a barbeque for the celebration at home. I'm sure that your guests will have a great time and appreciate something unique and fun.
  10. Thanks for the link. I had seen these mentioned in another forum but didn't know where to find them. Very much appreciated!
  11. Congrats and welcome to the forum. Good luck with the planning.

I'm planning a February 2010 wedding in Cancun/Riviera Maya (just got engaged in May and am cutting it close, I know!). I had my heart set on the Riu Palace Riviera Maya and have a reservation there for Feb. 15, but am getting a lot of push-back from my family regarding the price and requirement that 80% of guests stay at the resort, so am restarting my search. The resorts in Cancun seem a little more reasonably priced, so may head up the coast. Anyone have suggestions for a beautiful but affordable resort in Cancun or Riviera Maya? I'd prefer a European plan for guests and the resort has to be family-friendly. Thank you!!! I also had to be very careful of the resort rates so that guests would be able to attend. I narrowed my search down to Riu Playacar, Sandos Playacar, and Barcelo Maya Beach. Riu and Barcelo are in compounds that have nicer hotels in them, but we are looking at the more budget friendly ones. They are older and have less options for food, but I would rather have everyone able to attend. I did a lot of looking on tripadvisor.com to find budget resorts that had good reviews. Also, I ruled out a few that had less than stellar reviews of how good the beach was. Good luck with the planning and welcome to the forum.
  13. Thanks for the post Savannah. My fiance and I have a budget set at $4K and after reading some of the posts I started to wonder if it was possible. I am planning to make the STD's and invites to try and save money. There are a few details I originally forgot about (duh the rings!), but I'm thinking we will be able to stay on track.
  14. I love the dress and the story is so funny. Your idea of having purple heels that show just a little is great. I am going very casual for my wedding (at least thats the plan right now) so I am probably going to wear sandals. With that dress, I think you can put anything on your feet!
  15. I think the dress is so beautiful. My only question would be how warm you got in the dress as you were trying it on. I am getting married in the Riviera Maya in June so I am very worried that I am going to be sweating during the ceremony. As long as the dress isn't to hot when its bustled up, I say go for it!
  16. Great idea to put your names and wedding date on them. I think I'm going to borrow them.
  17. MarieSam: Can you share the website that you found the free pocketsize language guides at? It sounds like a great addition to the bag.
