  1. I don't have Sascha's current pricing, but we recently hired him for our wedding in Akumal, Mexico in June, 2010. I remember looking for photographer's and being overwhelmed, but I couldn't be happier with the outcome. When i was searching for photographers, I certainly remember Sascha having extremely reasonable prices. He was phenomenal, and for half the price of some of the pricier photographers out there!
  2. Unfortunately, I can't explain why she hasn't been responding, but I just wanted to write a quick note to say that I'm one of the brides mariesam turned over to Jenn to do my wedding cake and she did a phenomenal job! I didn't give much for requirements, just chocolate cake on the inside and cream-colored frosting on the outside with a few of our pink wedding flowers for decoration. She fulfilled every request, and our guests all thought it tasted amazing. Â As others have said on the forum, she can likely fill just about any request, so I really hope you're able to get a hold of her. Good luck!
  3. Hey ladies!! Just got back from Akumal last night, and I can definitely reinforce what MarieSam has been saying all along - Akumal is absolutely amazing!! Although the sun didn't shine as much as i had hoped, we got alot done!! We are getting married at Las Villas Akumal, and i feel so much better knowing we've made the right decision. We did get to visit Yal-Ku lagoo, and I saw Casa Romero from the outside and it looks amazing, though I'm sure MarieSam can tell you more about it. Now I'm just hoping the next four months pass quickly!!!
  4. Hey Shannon, Congrats on the engagement and welcome to the forum! Glad it's already been helpful for you! I'm getting married in mexico, but to avoid getting our blood drawn, translating a marriage license and all the additional costs, we are going down to the local courthouse and getting legally married a few days beforehand (but not telling anyone)! That seems to be relatively popular thing to do.
  5. I like the idea of having it made by someone else for a much cheaper price, but do you have time give that your wedding is in January? Not sure how long it would take to recreate, but it's a good idea! If that's not possible, honestly, I say go with the dress that you really want. It's your one day to shine, when all eyes are on you! Good luck!
  6. Congrats and welcome. By now, you've likely picked out the resort, but I agree with the other brides, it was definitely the most difficult decision! I ended up choosing Mexico as well. Good luck with the rest of the planning!
  7. Welcome! Like others have said, Mexico is relatively easy to get to and because there are so many flights that go there, it makes it relatively cheap as well! I'm in MPLS, and I'm planning my wedding in Akumal, Mexico. Good luck!
  8. I have the same dilemma! I'm less worried about headcount numbers than I am about people booking. I sent out STD's in late October and will be sending out invitations in early January and a response by mid-February I think. I also toyed with the idea of sending out packets of information, but am now thinking that all that information is available on the website...
  9. I'm getting married in Akumal, and our wedding coordinator suggested Alfonzo De Malaga as a ceremony guitarist, and he is charging $275 for 45 min. For an extra charge, my DJ is providing the equipment for the beach ceremony. Try using the search function for more helpful threads too! Hope this helps!
  10. I'm getting married in Akumal, as well! I only check in here every once in a while, but there are a few other brides out there that have either gotten married or are getting married in Akumal. I'm getting married at Las Villas Akumal on June 5th, 2010. Congrats and Welcome!
  11. Personally, I would not put the pricing on the STD. I think you'll be able to provide more detailed information on a website, and it will still look elegant if you have the website on the STD. That way you can still provide your guests all the information they need, plus more since you'll have endless room on a website!!
  12. Welcome to the forum! You've found the right place : ) Good luck with everything!!
  13. It looks absolutely gorgeous on you. It fits your body like a glove : )
  14. Thanks so much for posting! This information is great : )
  15. I completely agree with Rachel! You are very aware of what you are and are not capable of in a relationship. Just make sure to be extra careful in what you say to your family, and try not to be overly upset if you both have a disagreement. Good luck, and hopefully your family will encourage and be supportive of your marriage over the coming years!
  16. It doesn't sound like she was there for you when you really needed her, and she's not the person she was when you two were really close. I'd say it is up to what you want out of the friendship. You can either lay all your cards on the table - honest is the best policy, or let sleeping dogs lie and walk away without any regrets. The choice is yours, but I wouldn't count on her in a pinch!!
  17. You were definitely doing her a favor by inviting her to come dress shopping, but you definitely don't need to put up with her if she's not being supportive. I agree with the other gals, I would ask your FI to speak with her and let her know this is your decision and she needs to learn to accept it. Sounds like you're already sure about your decision and able to put your foot down!! Good for you!
  18. I hadn't thought about this either! What a great idea!! Luckily, just the two of us are going early and we live pretty close to the airport, so I'm sure we'll have a few friends drive us.
  19. Hi, welcome to the forum!! I am getting married at a remote location called Las Villas Akumal in Akumal, Mexico. Sascha Gluck (posted above) will actually be our photographer! Akumal, Mexico is the perfect little secluded town on the coast, just north of Tulum. Any Akumal bride will tell you how absolutely stunning it is! Good luck with all the planning!
