I am really excited about the way everything turned out, and that's awesome that you loved the same letterhead I did (a case of great minds thinking alike, perhaps?) Thanks, girls for your opinions -- I really appreciate it!

WOAH -- is dress #1 ever breathtaking or what?!? I literally said "Oh, WOW!" outloud to myself when I scrolled down and saw it....the beadwork is just stunning. And the way it sort of molds to your body couldn't look better -- I think it's clear that dress #1 was my vote! I can understand why you loved dress #2 also, but sometimes what we think we want when we are younger does not always fit who we've become as adults, and I think that is the case here. You said it best yourself when you wrote: "the dress that made me feel like a beautiful WOMAN..." above the first picture. In my opinion, enough said! IT'S the perfect representation of who you are now, who is not the same little girl dreaming of her wedding dress you once were. I say GO GET YOUR BEAUTIFUL GOWN, GIRL!!

I worked with one of BDW's very own members (username: becks), and her company is called Allurements By Rebecca. Maybe PM her or check out her website at Allurements by Rebecca to see if she can take away your headache and create something beautiful for you in EXACTLY the colors you want? She seemingly has most every shade of every color in her palate, and her pricing for monograms/logos is extremely reasonable -- totally worth looking into if you ask me! Plus, she's a dream to work with... At any rate, I wish you luck in finding the perfect palm you are looking for!

Woo-hoo, girls! I AM SO EXCITED MY INVITATIONS ARE FINALLY DONE!!! I am finally finished my kinda-sorta DIY Invitations and I couldn't wait to show them to you all, being as we are all such fans of seeing each other's handywork! While I love the Passport/Boarding pass and pocketfold invitations, I wanted to do something a little different and here is what I came up with! First is a pic of the finished set, with the invitation top left, Guest Information Sheet top right, back of our RSVP Postcard bottom left and the little RSVP postcard/folded Guest Information sheet packets bottom right: And here is a close-up of the sheer vellum Invitation we ordered from Invitations By Dawn.com, with the plain white & aqua deckle edge invitations I used as backings (ordered from David's Bridal online) -- which I then hole-punched and hand tied together with oatmeal colored "Wraphia" (looks just like raffia, but without all the mess!) from superiorgiftwrap.com: In case you can't read it, the wording my mother and I co-wrote is as follows: One love. Two hearts. Their future starts, by the sea. The honor of your presence is requested At the marriage ceremony of Christina Leigh Parris and John Allen Pollick On Friday, May Fourteenth, Two Thousand and Ten At Two O'Clock in the afternoon. Sandals Grande Ocho Rios Resort and Spa Ocho Rios, Jamaica The next pic is of the back of our custom RSVP postcards, done by one of BDW's very own (username: becks)! Her company is Allurements By Rebecca and she was positively FABULOUS to work with on creating exactly what I had envisioned). The front of the postcard is simply our logo, which can also be seen in my siggy!) and we ordered that adorable postage stamp to match everything from Zazzle.com: And finally, here is the 1st of 2 Guest Information Sheets with Resort and Booking Info. (which I folded up, put the RSVP postcard on top and tied together with the same oatmeal Wraphia to form neat little packets). I LUCKED OUT completely when I found this letterhead on OfficeDepot.com, and it was almost identical to the invitations I had ordered separately from Invitations By Dawn months before! Hope everyone likes them! I AM THRILLED that they have finally gone out in the mail this week...let the RSVP-ing commence!

Oh, Brandy! I AM SOOOOO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT ALL OF YOUR TROUBLES and MY HEART BREAKS FOR YOU! Please remember, although the name of this wonderful forum is "Best Destination Wedding", it doesn't mean that you can't still participate even if you are now going to get married at home! The same fabulous support system will always be here and available to you to share in your wedding planning experience, so even though you had to make the devastating decision to cancel your DW, DON'T BE A STRANGER, sweetheart! We'll always be right here... I've said it before but BDW should also stand for "Best Damn Women!" on the net, because that's what we've got in here! Stay strong, and my thoughts are with you!

A perfectly legitimate concern, my dear! I would also have to agree and say that typically your best bet is to order the dress in the size you currently are, unless you are already on an aggressive weight loss plan, and are seeing drastic changes even at this point. I can't imagine what it must be like for the girls that order their dresses 2 full sizes too small, and don't lose as much weight as they had anticipated (if any at all!) and then they are spilling out of their gowns, that is, if they can even get into it in the first place! One other thing I would suggest is a corset-laced back for your dress. They are waaayy more forgiving to weight fluctuation up OR down, and will still create a beautiful silhouette for whatever your shape ends up being on THE day. My only other suggestion (which is not ideal, but I thought I'd throw it out there) would be to plan on buying your dress at a place that has a lot of inventory in-stock in a variety of sizes usually at all times (somewhere like a David's Bridal), so you will have the opportunity to wait until you get much closer to the wedding to see where your weight is at that point and you have a much more clear idea of what size will end up working best on you. If you decide to do this, just be sure to still leave enough time for simple length and bussle alterations, though! Hope this helped, Stacey, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything turns out for the best!

What a GLAMOROUS gown, Darcy! I can only imagine how stunning it's going to look... And I agree with the other girls about the issues with the heels vs. the length of your dress. Maybe go with some really sexy heels for the other times already suggested (rehearsal dinner, etc.) OR if you want to have a little fun on your wedding night, maybe get something super sultry to go with a little negligee? Just a thought! CONGRATULATIONS in advance and I hope your wedding in Punta Cana (only a few short days away!) is 100% fabulous and everything you've dreamed it to be!

Breaking News!
islandbride317 replied to JenniferSS's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
Ooooh......pretty! But, I have to wonder what the cost is for each package, you know? Preston Bailey's packages were really expensive, but at least the prices were listed -- here they want you to call for pricing, so I can't even imagine what they're going for! -
YEA for all the FABULOUS married LADIES!!! Much love and mucho props for all the advice, ideas, amazing insight you all provide!

You're all amazing......GOOD LUCK, LADIES!

Oh, NO!!!! I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR YOU ARE GOING THROUGH THIS MESS! I agree with the suggestions Michelle has made, and maybe there are some creative solutions so that she is able to attend after all? HANG IN THERE, and we're always here if you need to vent! I will be keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out for you and your family! -
Alfred Angelo Style 410 FOR SALE; AWESOME DRESS!
islandbride317 replied to girlkin's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Wow!!! What a beautiful gown....strange question, but have you ever seen the show "Amazing Wedding Cakes" on We (Women's Entertainment) TV? There was a bride that had her wedding cake design based on this very same dress (I knew it looked familiar) andI thought it might be fun to let you know that! Anyway, it truly is stunning, but I can imagine with the shape of the dress that it's hard for most people to wear. And although I already have my dream dress, I wanted to suggest that maybe you repost it back on preownedweddingdresses.com, if you don't have luck here? You said it yourself, girls were busting down the door to get the dress, and maybe you could sell it for the same amount you paid or it (and not take any kind of loss)? GOOD LUCK and here's hoping you can sell the dress quickly to get the gown of YOUR DREAMS! -
Never received an order from a seller :-(
islandbride317 replied to Chicken764's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Oh, no! That is SUCH a shame....there is always such a high level of trust between the members of BDW, and it truly makes me sad to hear that someone took advantage of the trust you placed in them. I almost feel guilty that the purchases I've made from other BDW members have gone off without a hitch and were truly very pleasant experiences! Please try not to let it tarnish your view of everyone else who may be selling things on BDW (I think, sadly, you may have just been dealing with a "bad seed" and couldn't have anticipated this happening). Hang in there! -
Yayyyyyyy...I got my Confirmation Date
islandbride317 replied to torywedd's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
Congratulations, Tory! Isn't it such a "Whew! What a reflief!" kind of feeling to know the EXACT date and time you will be getting married?! Then you can start to visualize how the day will go (ie. get up at (fill in the blank) time, have breakfast, go to the salon for hair and makeup, dress in your gown, and MARRY THE MAN YOU LOVE!!!) Sounds like my kind of day! CONGRATULATIONS -

My TA said that having everyone RSVP by the end of November (even for a May wedding, since all accomodations for our resort have to be paid in full by the end of March) is what she recommended, so I just took her advice, and figured I should try to get them out by the end of September! Maybe run it by your TA and see what they think, based on your resort? In my opinion, it's never too early to give your guests time to plan! -
