  1. Thanks for the review and congrats! We are getting married at RPTB on August 7, 2009. We also booked the Junior Honeymoon Ocean View Suite, but may just stay with it and no upgrade if they don't have a king size bed. How stupid of a resort to not offer this in a room. Especially on your wedding day. Do you happen to have a pic of your rooms or, I guess we will have to see what the rooms look like when we get there and decide. We are getting married on the beach at 4pm. I was thinking of having our dinner at the steakhouse also. Can you use an IPOD dock in the restaurant if it's not too loud? After dinner I kind of wanted to go somewhere dancing. I was worried, from reading Trip Advisor, that there was not really a nightlife. We went to the Dominican Republic this past January and the resort that we stayed at seemed to unwind around 10pm also. WTF Was that club/bar nearby? or What about Rick's Cafe: is it just a restaurant or do they have entertainment as well? Did you use the exchange priviledges with the Riu Negril at all? I hear that it's more lively at night than RPTB. Congrats!
  2. I went to Sephora last week and picked up a packaged box kit of Smashbox for $59that included the primer, concealer, lumunier, photo opt, and a lip gloss. I ended up also buying a foundation to use for now. Our wedding isn't until 2 months (Aug) and I'm at the beach at least 2 times a week in the summer, so I'll have to match up and get a new foundation closer to our wedding date in a darker shade since i'll be more tan then. Maybe i'll just get a sample to bring with me. I'll wait until mid July to chose eyeshadow and blush/bronzer, as well. I also just absolutely LOVE the lipgloss that I ended up buying form Smashbox! It makes your lips look so smooth and with a natural gloss. The lady did my makeup there in the store. She gave me a few samples: a moisturizer, an exfoliant, and clinique eye cream for fine lines(that I need to save up and buy).
  3. Chanti: I may have you beat on having the shortest time lol! We started dating in July and got engaged in October. Our wedding is set for August of this year...2009. We had known each other for about 2years prior (I was his hairstylist). But, that doesn't really work for his advantage because as all of you girls know, you tend to gossip at the salon....so all of the "going out" and girl stories that I know about him actually came from his mouth, so he can't really back peddal too much to change stories up. lol But, after going to a concert in Boston Mass together on our first official date, we have never spent a day apart.
  4. I'm getting married August 7, 2009 and am using Brian Nedjedly for our TTD session while jumping resorts from RPTB to Sandals Ochos Rios for our honeymoon. He's reasonable and respond quickly...very kind. We're doing the session with the Dunns river falls and beach nearby. I can't wait! For $880 we get about 150 pics on cd, a dvd slideshow, and a printed package all set and done by the time we are to leave Jamaica. He travels within Jamaica. Try to Google his work. Hope this helps
  5. We just opened a joint savings account for our wedding cash to go into from our shower. I'm so excited that we finally did this. Once we are married in August, we will open up a checking that's linked to it to pay out household expenses that we both will contribute to and he will probably close his savings or keep just a minimal amount for emergencies (he's just clueless about writing out and managing a checkbook....pathetic huh...men) We have our own separate accounts: he has his own savings and I have my own checking that my paychecks go direct deposit into. I make alot less than him (teacher and pt hairstylist), so mine money basicaly goes to pay the utility bill and 1/3 mortgage, food, my college loans, etc... I have to play catch up with my bills to be straight. Almost there woohoo! He pays for our "entertainment/weekend/family" outings.
  6. What SECTION did you place your pics into.... or the TITLE of them so i can do a search to view? I have a shutterfly account , but the link you gave just takes us to the login page. Good Luck!
  7. Welcome! We are getting married in Jamaica at the RPTB this August. We found a great photographer on this forum and have him booked for a TTD session. Enjoy this forum. It has so many great ideas and ladies to help you. It takes a bit to look around and get the hang of navigating. But, once you get closer and look around I've found everyone and their great ideas to be a lifesaver. You girls have helped me out so much. Much more than my friends have! Who would have thought. Good luck.
  8. Tami: Thanks for the great idea for the shells! I was trying to picture in my head how I may have to decorate them so that they look nice when tying and displaying our rings. Your mom did a nice job.
  9. Just wondering if anyone possibly wanted to lend or sell their used bridal bouquet? I'm getting married August 7th at RPTB, Jamaica.... leaving Aug. 4- Aug. 16. Our colors are Fushia/pink & Coral peach/orange. If interested, please PM me. Thank you ladies!
  10. At frst I wanted to do pro. engagement pics, but then I decided that I would much rather send the money on TTD session while in Jamaica for our wedding. I never heard of such a thing, until I viewed some pics and posts on here. I think that this is such a great idea! and different too! We are going to do engagement pics, but are going to have our picture savy friend to them at a local park instead and save the cash for the TTD to splurge alittle. I have a few poses in my head that would look nice. I have a daughter and he does as well, so we are going to have "family" pics, the girls separate and together, and then just the 2 of us. It gives me an excuse to dress up! lol I agree with the other posts, to search amongst friends or even on craigs list if you would want to. With the help of that and chosing poses that look nice, you won't go wrong. Goog Luck!
  11. Hello ladies: Just wondering if any of you has seen or has actually done a shadow box picture frame for a sand ceremony? I'm looking to purchase one that is inexpensive if anyone has a suggestion. I keep on finding one that is linked to THE KNOTT, but would like to see other options. Thank you!!
  12. We are getting married at RPTB and the WC told us to be there 2 full business days, not counting weekends and the day of the arrival. It has to be at least 2 full days prior to the ceremony. I don't know if that's just the RPTB rules or Jamaica rules. We are flying in on Tues. and getting married on Friday. Hope that helps you!
  13. I'm thinking that we are going to use either a large shell or a starfish for our rings. My daughter will be the one to carry them down the aisle to us, so we don't want to use a pillow (she's 8 and associates it to a boy doing it lol) So, I will decorate it for the rings to be tied to and displayed. You ladies have such great ideas! hanks for all of the inspiration/ideas. And, "Fudgie": I just love your slideshow pics! Very nice.Congrats
  14. Meghan and Chanti: I'm getting married on 8/7/09 and would like to loose 10 lbs. by mid.July to advoid stressing out at the last min.. I'm about 5'5'' and need to tone up/shed lbs . Tell me how it works and PM me for my email if you still would like to do this. I look foward to hearing from you girls!! Happy working out.
  15. Karla: I am having a photographer from Jamaica named Brian Nejedly do my TTD session while at SOR. I got his name from a girl on this site. You can google him and he has an online price list and gallery. He's reasonably priced and takes great pics. Hope this helps you.
  16. Candace: Congrats! We are getting married at RPTB also on Aug 7, 2009. Please let me know how everything works out for the two of you! If you want to chat about planning at the RPTB feel free to PM me. ok Jennie
  17. Just wondering if any of you ladies have booked xtras at Sandals OR or Riu PTB for your wedding? We are at RPTB for our wedding and then jumping resorts to SOR for our honeymoon. I was thinking of suprising my FI with booking a private dinner on the beach while we are at Sandals and was looking for other ideas that anyone has done. Also, any good/ bad reviews.
  18. If anyone will be at the RPTB ( our wedding date is Aug 7th 2009) and would like to share a photographer.... PM me and let me know.
  19. I think that we are going to walk down the aisle to Bless The Broken Roads by Rascal Flatts, too. Haven't decided what to walk off the beach to yet..... I want to find something beachy sounding since we will be in Jamaica.
  20. I was wondering where I could buy bulk candy in a specific color (coral/peach/white). A friend of mine had gone to a wedding reception where they had a "candy bar".... candy in their wedding colors that was placed in tiers and the guests could "scoop out" what they wanted and placed it into containers that were like the ones you get when ordering chinese food. I thought this would be a different/fun idea for our wedding shower/jack and jill party. I'm now looking for a site or place to buy from that is reasonably priced. Our shower is May 29th, so I have to get going on this idea. Thank You!!!
  21. Cheryl: Yeah, I know how you feel.....but he's right YOU need to just email the Riu directly. I was mad too, but it's your info and email that they have as a contact. Plus, I don't know if you're like me, but I rathered that I emailed them and cut out the 3party info that wasn't correct to start with. Also, when I got my confirmation number finally, it says that the Riu holds the "date" for 30 days until someone confirms that they def. want that particular date/time. So, don't worry because there could be people that requested a certain date but will back out of it and not confirm it. I would suggest just sending the WC there a direct email asking for the date/time that you want to start. Then ask what your options are from there. Hope this helps you. Jennie
  22. Cheryl: If I could go back in time... I would just simply just contact the Riu myself through their web site. Go to "weddings" and put in your stay info. and just request the date you want! That easy(that's why I was soooo very mad at my TA). The Riu will contact YOU directly by email whether you do it or the TA. They will give you a confirmation code to enter back on their site and presto: your date is confirmed! Our wedding date in August 7, 2009 at RPTB. You have to be on their property for 2 full business days before your ceremony. So, your fly in date DOES NOT COUNT as a day(it's like a half of day they consider). Also, weekends don't count either. My TA messed this up too, so we have to fly in on Tues. of that week instead of the Wed. that we had planned to, to have our ceremony on Friday. Hope this helps!
  23. Thank You ladies! You are all so helpful in listening to my venting! We just paid off our honeymoon at Sandals Ochos Rios! Yeah!!
  24. Hey "Paul's SoulMate"...btw what's your first name so I don't sound silly next time. lol We just confirmed our DW date. It's at the RPTB Aug 7, 2009!! We will be at RPTB 8-4-09 - 8-9-09 and heading on over to Sandals Ochos Rios a day ealier than I thought. So, we will be there a day before your wedding... from 8-9-09 - 8-16-09. We will be staying in the Honeymoon junior oceanview suite w/ pool. Our TA majorly screwed thing up so I demanded an upgrade WooHoo!! So, if you want to exchange cell phone numbers and meet up sometime durring the stay, PM me. OK Good Luck with everything. I'm going to email Brian about a TTD session now that we have def. DW dates.
