  1. Okay, so for my reception, I requested to have one long rectangular table for my group of 26. My WC keeps telling me I can only have round tables....this is making me mad! I swear I've seen that other brides have done this in the past! Does anyone else remember? How should I approach this with my WC??

We are also doing separate bags for the little kids with toys and stuff in them. We are also giving out personalized sandalwood fans at the ceremony, and will have glow necklaces at the reception (since I wanted sparklers and probably won't be able to have them), and maracas for favors. Thanks for posting pictures gals!! I am so excited to look at them when I get back from working this afternoon!! WOOT! Tina, you're so close, I'm jumping with excitement for you!!
  3. I'm so glad I found this thread! I ordered these maracas... Genuine Maracas - PartyMart: party supplies One pair for each person. First of all, they are huge! A really great size. But, they are VERY poorly painted. I was going to send them all back, but now I think I might paint them...thanks for giving me a great idea gals!! I'm not that crafty though - I might need to make a stencil or something... And I really like the idea of putting each person's name on their maracas!!

  5. Eureaka, we are planning on going to Chichen Itza - it looks awesome! That will probably be the only tour we take, as it's a whole day long. I saw a question about tours being canceled...I had looked on this website a week or so ago and it had mentioned certain tours being canceled... Receive a Palace Passport valued at more than $500.00 Now it doesn't say anything. I'm assuming they are being offered again? Honey, I bought a second dress to use for my TTD - it was around $400. My ceremony dress was definitely more expensive. I had also got a TTD on ebay for 40 bucks, but decided I didn't like it so I bought the next one.
  6. I'm so glad I saw this thread! I was wondering this too! I think we will do ours right after dinner to get things started!
  7. Hey all! My we've been chatty today!!! Awesome! Honey, welcome and we share the same wedding day! I am getting married at 1pm on the 18th. We are getting really close, super exciting! I am also heading down on the 13th. I have no idea what time I get in though, LOL. I have become a Sephora addict too - I went and spent almost 500 dollars in one shot buying all my wedding make up. Oops. I had read somewhere that they will NOT use your own make up at the salon - that's why I bought my own. I don't remember where I read that though!!! I have very sensitive skin and I can't have anything with scents or certain ingredients in it or I get nasty blister things. Bad news bears. I would check into that before booking your make up appointment. I did book a hair appointment though. I will be doing a trial with my salon next week. For our OOT bags, we are just going to meet people as they arrive and give them to them to welcome them and stuff. We have a much smaller group though - like 25 people. Honey, I am doing a Trash the Dress. We booked Claudia Rodriguez for our TTD, which we are doing during our honeymoon at the Excellence, and we booked an outside photographer for the MP too. We are spending quite a bit on our TTD, but I think it will totally be worth it!! It's super exciting!! I can't believe how close we are! Maybe we should try to meet up and have a drink or two!

I'm in the TEENS! I can't believe it. In some ways, I still can't. LOL. I have so much to do for work before I leave! And so much to do for the wedding! I still need to: Make welcome letters Make flower girl baskets Make my bride bikini Final dress fitting is next week Hair Trial Finish putting together OOT bags Figure out reception decorations - I have to wait on my WC though for that Get everything packed.... And I'm sure there's more. I think I've been slacking! The good news is my fiance and I both pretty much have off the whole week before we leave, so we'll be able to get a ton done then. I just have so much work stuff to do - that really needs be my focus!!! UGH!
  9. Eureaka, you are just as close pretty much! It's getting really exciting now! I've been waiting almost a week now for a response from Claudia, but I sent her a SUPER long email, so that was kind of expected. I just hope I get an email back tomorrow - I never expect emails back on weekend days because I know she'd be so busy! Tina, that stinks about the heat index. I really want to have my reception outside. I wonder if we'd have to move our cocktail indoors as well....sad!
  10. I got a pretty similar dress on forever21.com last week for 14.50 or something - it's shorter though! http://www.forever21.com/product.asp...833580&Page=1#

If you go into the General Wedding Information section, there is a section for Etiquette, Traditions, and To Dos. I found some great to do lists in there!!!
  12. doblauvelt - I freak out a lot, no worries. LOLOL. I'm working a lot on OOT bags and getting stuff organized - I just had another guest add on today! I am also working on getting our playlists together for dinner and dances. I'm getting a lot of packages in the mail with stuff I've ordered for the wedding too - which is really exciting but making my coworkers jealous (I live where I work). LOL! I sent a super long email to Claudia the other day with a bunch of questions and planning stuff. Hopefully I'll hear back from her soon - otherwise, I'm pretty much on hold for now! I think I'm going to start packing soon too!!! WOOOOTTT! I just can't wait!!
  13. I've been on the Palace website quite a bit, and I haven't seen anything about one of the resorts closing! I'm sure we would have hear of it through the forum if one of them did! All I've heard of is that they aren't offering all the tours for the passport program, which is on their website actually, in the tours section. It's none of the tours I was particularly interested in, but I don't remember which ones they were! I'll try to find it later. I have to go to a dress fitting right now! Woooot!
  14. I would suggest etsy too! If you can't find it, you can find someone who's stuff you like, and then ask them to make something for you. I've done that a few times!
  15. I agree! Ebay is great! As are the preowned wedding dress sites: preownedweddingdresses.com, woreitonce, and there are many others! Just google used or preowned wedding dresses and a ton of sites will come up. You can often find them even new on a lot of these sites!
  16. My FI and I just got iPhones. I know there is an international plan for the data content, which we are looking into getting! Another thing to keep in mind - we just switched to ATT last week, because we wanted the new iPhone. When were were done setting up, I asked the guy at the store about the plans for Mexico. He told me that generally they only allow customers who have been members for 6 or more months are allowed to change their plans on the fly like that - even for international travel. He said they MAY allow us to add on the Mexico package, if they do credit checks and stuff. Something to keep in mind. If you're planning on switching carriers before your wedding, I would definitely check into if they have a membership requirement for requesting international plans. I'm really nervous about that now - if they don't let us have it, I will probably have a tv bridezilla like moment!!
  17. 1 - All inclusive 2 - Very family friendly 3 - Free wedding package with add ons available 4 - Gazebo weddings 5 - A resort that could still make me feel like a princess, for cheap!! It was really kind of funny. My fiance and I didn't do much research into resorts. I feel like such a slacker compared to all of you. Seriously, I think that the MP was the first resort we looked at, and we looked up costs and they worked, so we were like, that's it!! We didn't even look at anything else!

My boss said they watered down all the liquor so bad and would sweeten them up so much that no one in his party even felt the alcohol unless they were drinking wine or beer.. I thought that was so strange. That is strange. I know a lot of the resorts have been loosing money - economy, flu, terrorism, etc - maybe this is an effect of that. BTW - my mom and my brother got the swine flu, for reals! They are totally fine, they weren't even sent to the hospital! They just have to stay home for a week. Now I really feel like it's no big deal. Quote: We leave in 13 days and will be married in 19. OMG!!!! I am so excited for you!!!! For US!!!! LOL! I leave in 21 days and our wedding date is in 25. I CAN'T believe how soon it is. I had another guest add on last night, so that was a super good feeling too!!! I've been very busy with wedding stuff, it's so fun! Tonight, maybe I'll put together my flower girl baskets!!
  19. Doblauvelt, I agree - I didn't reserve my gazebo until much later after signing my contract. It will be okay if you wait a bit. If you really are going to stress out about it though, I would just email your Miami contact and ask her to put your request in your file. I'm sure she could probably do that for you! I didn't really get in contact with and start really planning with my WC until recently - maybe 2 weeks ago? So, what I found was that they will reserve a gazebo for you, but tend to be more hesitant to do other planning beyond answering questions until much closer to your date.
  20. Now I'm glad I booked on Mexicana - I can still check two bags for free! I think these fees are just outrageous!!
  21. Hey Avery! Welcome back! How exciting that they've already assigned you a WC! I have Claudia too. I'm glad I didn't have to pick a color package, but in some ways, I think the new packages they have are a better deal! I had ended up just doing the free package and adding on what I wanted. I bet it is hard to match a color though - that is kind of silly. As far as invitations go, I was on a tight time schedule, so we sent ours out all compressed together. I think it's really up to you - I sent mine out I think in February for our July wedding. I've also sent out several other mailings though (YAY Vistaprint and free postcards and brochures)! I sent out a postcard in March reminding people about the 50% deposit, and I sent out a brochure last month to all the people who had booked detailing customs, travel insurance, packing lists, etc. I did send my invitations to everyone who had gotten an STD - but I didn't want anyone to feel left out. If it's not in your budget, I would say you don't need to send formal invitations to people who have already definitely told you they are not coming. For my STDs and invitations, I used Ana de Roux, who is a forum member and makes beautiful stuff!! I believe her web address is Ana de Roux {Custom Invitations, Statinery & Design}. I used mini passports for my STDs and boarding passes for my invitations. They came out great!!
  22. It's gorgeous!! I'd love to see pics of you in it! Don't worry....I am a 2 ceremony dress bride...and a 2 TTD dress bride....GULP!
