December 2009 Brides!
Sparkles8300 replied to *Nadine*'s topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hey Ladies! We got married on Dec 4th and everything went PERFECT! It was even more beautiful than I could have planned. The WC really pulled off all of my ideas. Here is a link to an album with a lot of pics that our guests took of the rehearsal, wedding, and ttd... enjoy! http://leslieandjayswedding.shutterfly.com/ also, we got a video camera for a shower gift but if you don't have one BUY ONE! It will be worth every penny to have your ceremony and rececption on video to watch over and over! I can't stop watching it!! It goes by so fast you feel like you blacked out and the video will help you remember. -
December 2009 Brides!
Sparkles8300 replied to *Nadine*'s topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I have not started a packing list yet, so if any of you have one that would be wonderful. I do have a MUST CARRY ON LIST: RINGS, My Dress/shoes, TTD, FI Suit/tie/shoes/shirt, Groomsmens shirts, ties, pants, shoes ( I don't trust any of the GM to bring them themselfs), BMs shoes/parasols, Makeup, bathing suit, toasting set/cake cuting set, rehearsal dinner dress, table numbers, programs, place cards, menus, guestbook scrapbook, poloroid camera/film, video camera, OOT bags (just the bags the contents will be checked...I figure worse case we can buy new stuff tofill them). Is there any other major thing I am forgetting that HAS to make it to Jamaica If we have room, we will bring more clothes in our carry ons but this stuff is more important at this point. AHHHHH!!! I hope you girls are excited as I am!! When are you having your batch parties?? I want to see pics!! Mine is next Friday, the 20th! -
My mom, aunt, MOH and moms friends threw me the most beautiful shower last weekend. It was my favorite restaurant M54 right on my street in downtown Baltimore! They owner hooked us up with letting us rent out the top floor for the shower for free..being a regular paid off! I love how they stuck with my color theme (orange and fuchsia) it looked so beautiful, I only hope the wedding lives up to it.Here are some pics from that wonderful day! I totally see how people say their wedding days fly by in a blur b/c that same thing happend with my shower! Link to all pics:Pictures by Sparkles8300 - Photobucket

Post your bouquet and inspiration pics here
Sparkles8300 replied to EDYTA's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
This is the bouquet I sent to the florist as my inspiration pic. I told her I would like more fuschia orchids added in with splashes of orange...instead of the other way around, as it is in the picture. These are the orchids I would like: Are you girls having your BMs have smaller versions of your bouquet...or are you doing totally different ones for them? I think I am just doing a smaller one for them, larger one for me... -

Something blue on your shoe
Sparkles8300 replied to Mrs. R's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Very cute idea! -
I found these Kate Spade shoes on Zappos.com. After months and months of looking at the malls all over DC, MD, and VA because I wanted to try them on in person, I finally gave up and hit the internet! I like Zappos because it's free shipping both ways, so you really don't need to worry if they do not fit or they don't look like the pictures. I am so excited to get them in the next 4-5 days!!!

Freeze Dried Rose Petals

Just search for Mexico customs regulations or contact Mexico's embassy in the US. Same thing for any other country. Did you end up bringing the freeze dried petals into Jamaica? Did everything go OK? I just ordered a sample of 4 different colors from petalgarden.com. It's only $2 for a sample and then they include a $5 off coupon so you end up saving $3 if you do place an order wtih them. I heard on another blog that the bride ordered samples from both flyboynaturals.com and petalgarden and that petalgarden was way better quality. I was going to go with flyboy just because their site looks so nice, but they don't even have the color I want, hot pink, right now. I am glad I did a little more research and found out about this other place. I will let you know how they turn out! -

I think they said it's because they don't want to music to be too loud, and also Nicole mentioned that the equipment isn't very easy to operate. Nicole said their equipment plays cds but doesn't hook up to Ipods as far as she knows. I would guess that the Beach and Suites use the same dj equipment but not totally sure. I am getting married at the Grand, and my WC, Pilar, said that the DJ equipment can hook into ipods and cds. I am not sure if it is the same one as the Suites uses, but maybe you could have them borrow it if it's not already being used at the Grand on your wedding night.

Do you know if they caught the guy that killed him? The last I heard was they had a description of a "suspect" but didn't have anyone in custody.

December 2009 Brides!
Sparkles8300 replied to *Nadine*'s topic in General Wedding Planning Information
So I thought I would check in and see how far you ladies have come in your planning to this point. I have done so much but it seems to be never-ending! Still need to: *Get dress fitted *find my shoes (then I can do the fitting!) *get FI shoes *get groomsmens/FI ties *make programs *make starfish seating cards and table #'s in frames *make sand ceremony set *pick out must have songs for wedding & get them on CD/ipod *order flowers *book steel drum band for ceremony (ladies, and suggestions of a good band in the MB area of Jamaica?) *put together OOT bags (all stuff has been bought except for the mugs, which of course FI was in charge of and has not done) *ORDER FI WEDDING RING!!! He found one but it was $800 for white gold and nothing special so he chose not to order it....we really need to go looking! Well let me know what you girls have left to do! I feel so behind! Everyone got in their final payments today and we have 53 people booked and paid for!!! My passport invites went out yesterday and I can't wait for people to get them!!! -
HAHAHAHHAHAHA I LOVE IT! Just shared it on Facebook! Between this website and FB it's a wonder I get anything done!

The best workout DVDs I have ever owned- P90X
Sparkles8300 replied to rodent's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
What are you ladies using for the pull ups? We don't have a door way anywhere near the tv (the closest one is in the bathroom down the hall). Is there a way to use the bands for pull ups without attaching them to your wall? I started week 2 today and I am not looking forward to tomorrow am, it's plyo day and I really thought I was going to die last week when I did it! I think it's funny that FI bought the P90X dvds and was like we are going to do this every day togehter etc... then of course he did it till 1/2 way through yoga last week and gave up already. He keeps saying he is "just busy" and does not have time for the workout but really I don't think he can hang!!!! Are you all doing the regular or one of the other programs? -
AJ just changed the # of checked bags included in the ticket price from 2 to the usual 1 that other airlines allow. I am so upset as we are bringing so much stuff and now we will have to pay $25 more per bag. This change will go into affect after Oct. 14th. I thought I would have my MOH and her boyfriend use their second bags for my wedding stuff and have FI and I take the other 2 bags of stuff and now it looks like this will end up costing us $100 to get the stuff down there. Do any of you girls know if they count your dress as your carry on? Or is it just allowed on extra. I have a TTD and Wedding dress that have to go on the plane with me so I was wondering if any of you knew how they handle that? I really hope they don't charge $25 for each of those too!
