  1. I have five male guests who want to go deep sea fishing while we are in Jamaica. I arranged a tour for them through Norma with Lee's Tours & Taxi. The cost is $500 for a half-day up to 5 persons.
  2. I'm glad it worked out for you, vdaybride. I have my final fitting tomorrow and have tried for the past two weeks to stay away from the snack machine, leftover candy, and cheese while drinking lots of water. It's not easy, so, it's great to know that others are experiencing the same challenges. To make it even worse, my FI has been hitting the gym because he is too skinny and trying to bulk up and GAIN weight before we leave in 16 days!!!!!!!!!! We're like that commercial with the cartoon husband and wife.....the husband drops weight but the wife can't. Oh well, I was pleasantly surprised during my last fitting and I'm sure this one will be even better. Good luck and much will power to us all.
  3. Excellent question. Where are all the MRS? We're anxious to hear your responses to Heaterfan 15's question!!!!
  4. Congratulations and welcome back! Your setup looks absolutely perfect. Looking forward to more pics and your full review.
  5. Congratulations and safe travels to you. Remember to breath and enjoy the moment.
  6. No, it is not rude. I have probably over planned for my guests. We have a welcome dinner the day everyone arrives, the wedding, and I sent them information on the various excursions/trips. My FI said I did too much because the excursion planning was a bit stressful. My guests decided what they wanted to do, and I booked group trips based on their interests with a local tour company. Those who wanted to go let me know, and those who do not are free to relax at the resort. I just wanted to give them the option, let them know what to expect in terms of $, and help out some of my guests who do not travel much. I think it will work out OK, but we do not plan to spend every moment with our guests. It's their vacation and we want them to enjoy it.
  7. Destination wedding No name change No bridal party No ring bearer or flower girl No bouquet/garter toss No dancing We're staying together the night before We plan to walk-in and down the aisle together No readings or songs during the ceremony No invitations (STD and email only) No engagement party, bachelor party or bachelorette party No gifts I also shopped for my dress without assistance. Ivory dress without a veil We're doing our own thing with the music including a rap song or two No extended family beyond my parent's siblings (gave in to parents on this one!) Spiritual not religious ceremony
  8. Good question. My seamstress is making my dress from scratch. Do you think the same tipping rule applies in my situation? I was thinking of tipping her once I pick up my dress in two weeks.
  9. My stylist is going to texturize, trim, and color my hair a week before my wedding. I have an appointment at the resort's salon the day of my wedding for an updo style. I plan to take my own products for the resort staff to use. I have not decided on the updo style, but I do not plan to add hair....too hot and I would like to keep it simple.
  10. We did not send invitations. We sent Save the Date cards to everyone followed by a letter with the details on our wedding including travel plans, deposits, etc. Between the Save the Date cards and the letter we knew who would be able to join us and did not see the point of spending extra $ on invitations.
  11. I like it and you cannot beat the price. I would have the dress altered for a closer fit and try it without the straps. Either way, it's perfect for your TTD pictures.
  12. My ring is platinum and holding up pretty well. My band will be platinum but his will most likely be white gold or Tungsten. He would prefer platinum, but the cost is so much more and he has been known to lose just about every ring he has ever purchased! We have no problems with rings of different metals; it's a personal preference.
  13. Thanks for sharing your review and congrats on your wedding. Everything looks like it was wonderful.
  14. I hope this all worked out for you. I scanned my documents (birth certificates and passports) with the notary seal and sent them to Chandlyn. I sent the notarized copies via FedEx; it took 2 days for the package to reach the RIU. Chandlyn said my documents were fine and asked for our occupations.
  15. We're having about 29 guests and decided not to book the disco. We will do our toasts, etc. during dinner and hang out at one of the bars. We have some older folks attending and most will not want to do the disco, so, it would be a waste of money for us.
  16. Congratulations! I cannot wait to read your review and see the pics. I have just over 30 days before I leave for the ROR, so, I am anxious to read about your experience.
  17. Great idea and your cake is beautiful. Like TeNeil, I am also thinking about using fresh flowers to dress up my cake. I read in another posting on this site that a bride used upgraded her flowers and used the free flowers from her package to decorate her cake. Sounds like an inexpensive idea to me!!!
  18. I believe there is also an additional fee of 4-5% for using a credit card while in Jamaica. I'm not sure if this fee is charged by the merchants or by the credit card companies. Just something to keep in mind and verify before using a credit card.
  19. I just spoke with Norma regarding some group excursions for my wedding in December. She is wonderful and full of helpful tips. She is planning to start her wedding coordinating/planning business in December. She is helping me to find a local vendor to make a traditional black Jamaican rum cake for my wedding. As some of you know, Lee's email address was hacked recently. They are no longer using the yahoo address. They are now using [email protected]. Norma apologized for not responding to my previous email, but she said that she does not have her previous emails (unless she had previously printed them). If you don't hear from her, please call (1-876-974-6234) or email her using the alternate address.
  20. The cups at the AI resorts are pretty small, and many brides on this forum have stated that the travel mugs/cups were a big hit with their guests. I have purchased 50 from Factory 21 Promotional Items on E-bay for $71 plus $14 for shipping. They are great to work with and helped me to design the free imprint.
  21. Thanks Melette and Becks for the shopping tips. I am on it and hope to complete the items for my OOT bags this weekend.
  22. My TA was able to get a better price for our rooms. I am so happy she was able to work out a better deal for my guests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All rooms will be upgraded to ocean front and the price per room is $200 less. Our room is being upgraded to the jacuzzi suite with oceanview at no additional cost and the airfare is currently $110 less per person. I have some guests that will actually get refunds from the TA. Sweet.....Very good news. Keep checking the prices and don't be afraid to ask for a better deal. Thanks for the price matching tip.
  23. My OOT bags have been ordered and are on the way. I have almost all of the items for my bags except the plastic key card holders with elastic (plastic) wrist bracelets for my guests to keep their beach towel cards and room keys. I need 25. Any ideas on where I can purchase these for an inexpensive price?
  24. Love the bags. Where did you find the plastic key card holder with elastic bracelet?
