  1. I was not expecting him to have such a strong reaction to the cake choices, but he did. Thanks for the name of the bakery. I'll contact her for more information. If anyone else has a name, please feel free to pass it along.
  2. My FI would like a traditional Jamaican wedding cake (fruit/rum cake) and not the free cake offered by ROR. The cake and the ceremony are the only details that he cares about! Is/has anyone used an outside bakery for their wedding cake? If so, can you recommend a good bakery in Ocho Rios. I'm sure I'll need to get special permission from the hotel or Chandlyn to have an outside vendor bake and deliver the cake. .....happy planning ladies!
  3. I'm having guests of various ages and some have physical limitations. Can anyone suggest a group excursion that would be fun for everyone. I do not think that very many of my guests will be able to climb the falls.
  4. Thanks to everyone for clarifying the details of the "free" package. It helped a lot and now I can move on to other planning details.
  5. I've been looking around the forum for an answer to a few questions regarding the "free" package offered by ROR. I hope someone can help and I apologize if the answers are already out there.....just could not find them, but found lots of other good information! Is there a maximum number of guests with the "free" package. I'm not sure how many guests we will have; the range looks like 15 - 35. I believe I read on this forum that I can still reserve the Steakhouse for free as long as I have 50 or fewer guests. Is this correct? Are the flowers artifical or real? Thanks a bunch for your help.
  6. Hmmm.....it won't hurt to ask. I'm hoping to go soon for the same reason. I'll talk with my TA to see if she can work something out for me. I'll let the forum know if I have any success.
  7. Great idea! How many points must you have to open attachments? I'm new and apparently have a long way to go!
  8. Thanks for your response and well wishes. I'll try searching for the ROR forum again. Best of luck to you as your date is quickly approaching!!!!!
  9. Hello Everyone, I just received my wedding confirmation voucher from ROR. My date is set for 12/3/09 and the TA has made all of the arrangements....just waiting for the responses to start coming in! Question #1: The "free" wedding package for 2009 is $350.00. The confirmation voucher says that "The total amount will be paid directly at the hotel upon meeting with the wedding coordinator." It also says that "In case of cancellations or no show the Riu Sales Department will charge $250 USD from the credit card information provided." Can someone clarify for me if my credit card will be charged $350 now or is it only to hold the reservation? In other words, pay the $350 and for whatever extra I want in December 2009 unless I cancel or no show then Riu will charge my card $250. Question #2: I tried searching for a ROR forum on this site. Does such a forum exist? If so, can someone tell me how to get to it? Question #3: Now that I have travel arrangements and my confirmation voucher, can I start contacting the wedding coordinator for more information? Do you think she will respond even though my date is more than a year away? Thanks a bunch for all of your help and support
  10. This sounds great and exactly the help that I need. I cannot open the file. Can someone please email it to me at [email protected]? Thank you. I appreciate it it sooooooo much!!!! Kim
  11. Hi Everyone: I'm just starting to plan for my December 2009 wedding in Jamaica and could use some help. We're staying at ROR, but have not decided if it will be the ceremony site. I'd like something a little more private, but my FI is fine with ROR. I have a few questions: 1) Other than cost, how did you decide whether to have your ceremony at ROR or offsite? If we have it at ROR, we will go with the "free" package and add other items like more decorations, the steel band, a reception, etc. My other option is offsite with Almarie. 2) Can I contact Chandlyn before confirming the date to get an idea of the exact price? We have a reservation for 12/3/09, but have not confirmed it as yet. We still have the 90 days to do so. 3) Has anyone had or attended an Islamic/Muslim ceremony at ROR or anywhere in Jamaica? How difficult do you think it will be to arrange this? 4) When did you send out your save the date cards? Did you include all of the hotel and travel information with the cards? I'm still waiting on prices from the travel agent and did not know if I should send the cards now or wait until I have the hotel rates. The airfare rates will not be available until at least February. Thanks for your help. If I can get going with the first few items I'll feel much better. Kim
  12. Hi Everyone, This website is great and has been very helpful so far. My name is Kim. My FI and I are looking to get married in Jamaica in December 2009. No place or exact date yet. I've just started researching locations in Mo Bay and Ocho Rios. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning from others on this site.
