  1. I fly from TO. The thing is if you wait till late summer to book, then there may not be enough seats left for your guests on the plane/rooms left at the resort. Also, if you are going to wait that long until the pricing comes down that much, your wedding date may be booked. Ibersostar Rose Hall Suites tends to be a little more pricy. You should be able to get Iberostar Rose Hall Beach for $1400. Best prices I have found are either early booking, or last minute. November is definitely a more reasonably priced month to travel. Example, we paid about $3500 taxes incl for Couples Tower Isle, Deluxe Oceanview Room. We booked in May for our November wedding. I checked the prices almost daily. The prices went down once, for like $100. Seeing as it was our wedding, I wasn't too upset as I had to book the wedding, and photographer in advance. I also had to send in my documents ahead of time also. Our plane down there was full, and that was on a weekday (so lower prices). Coming back it was like 75% full.
  2. $1300 taxes incl from TO is hard. If you can manage to get Iberstar Rose Hall Suites for that price than go for it. Otherwise you are looking at Bahia, and Palladium, and maybe Riu Ocho Rios...if people book last minute. You'd have to contact the individual resort wedding co-ordinators to see what they offer. But be prepared to pay extra for all things private and above and beyond their packages. For a good photographer try Marica Roberts, she was extremely reasonably priced. I contacted alot of photogarphers and she was $1,000 below Diana & Richard who were the 2nd cheapest.
  3. Okay, so Marica has asked me to write a testimonial on this site. So here it goes. Marcia and Christopher took our pictures on Monday November 22, 2010 at Couples Tower Isle. When we arrived at the resort, we called her to let her know that we arrived safely. At that time, please re-confirm with her your time. In a previous e-mail I had accidentally written that our wedding was at noon. It was at 11am. So here I am panicing, thinking oh my god she is not coming. I called and they were on their way. They arrived about 11:15, took some pics of me in my dress and then went down to see DH and take pics of him. Since I had no interest in pics of me getting ready, I wasn't too stressed as we were the only wedding that day. They took pics with us for approx 2 - 2.5 hours. My face hurt from smiling so much! As it was just the 2 of us that was more than enough time. As Marcia, does not book time slots, they would have stayed all day if wanted them to. Working with them was a VERY pleasant experience. They captured alot of moments that I didn't realize including the "face" I made when we sipped our champagne and I realized that mine had alcohol in it (I don't drink), and it was uppose to be non-alcoholic! Christopher would take off, but we soon realized that he would come up from behind us to get various angles, including walking along the seawall to get pics from behind during our ceremony. DH called him a ninja, because one meoment he was gone, and then he would appear out of nowhere. We got an EXCELLENT deal from Marcia. As I had just gotten laid off, pricing was important, and obviously the pics had to be good. Marica has asked me not to post the fee she charged me, but she was $1,000 less than Diana & Richard. The package was to include 300 pics, and 2 copies of the DVD Montage. Well, the CD's shipped on Wednesday at lunch, and they arrived before 9am on Friday to Ontario, Canada! We ended up getting 657 pictures!!! Now, FH is SUPER photogenic, and well quite frankly I am super un-photogenic. I LOVE atleast half of them! the ones that I don't love have nothing to do with quality, it is me making weird faces/laughing, or positioning my face to emphasize my double chin! As for the DVD Montages, they are nice. However, she didn't use the music that we sent her, I am not sure why. But, since these are for our mother's we couldn't care less. I give Marcia and Christoper a 10/10, they were delightful to work with, made us laugh, and made us feel comfortable as we both hate getting pics taken of us. Our photos really are far more beautiful than I thought they would be! I posted a wedding review, and a review of the resort on the Couples website. Here is a link to Marcia's site. I am very busy right now with the holiday's and trying to figure out how to do photobooks, I will try to remember to post a link in the future. http://www.jamaicanphotography.com/
  4. We just used Marcia for our DW at CTI. She and Christopher were great to work with. She could not book 1 night at Couples, as Couples has a 3 night minimum (we both looked into this). So we had to get the $500 vendor fee. I was wondering to those that have used her how long did you wait for your cd's to arrive?
  5. Has anyone heard from Marcia in the last week? Â Usually her or Cleopatra respond to e-mails in 1-2 days max. I have sent 3 emails (the same one) within the last 10 days and I haven't heard anything back.
  6. Was anyone able to pay for her any other way other than cash the day of? I have booked her for my Nov CTI wedding and she wants to be paid cash the day of. I just don't want to have to carry that much around with me for a few days in Jamaica.

  8. Welcome! For me, I am still deciding. First thing I did was look at the costs involved for my guests to travel. It was VERY important for us that this be affordable for them as many have had their hours/pay reduced due to the recession. With that I narrowed it down to: RIU Ocho Rios RIU Montego Bay Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Grand Palladium Jamaica I then emailed all the wedding co-ordinators to get the package pricing, read ALOT of wedding reviews on here, read alot of reiews on Trip Advisor, and looked at alot of pictures. We eliminated RIU Montego Bay due to the close proximity to the airport, and FH eliminated Gran Bahia, because he didn't like the looks of their rooms So we are down to Grand Palladium and RIU Ocho Rios. I personally change my mind every day/hour. I am VERY indecisive. Grand Palladium has this going for it for me: Beautiful rooms No lining up for a-la-cartes at 7-8am Cheaper than ROR closer to the airport RIU ocho Rios has this going for it WAy better beach Wedding package WAY more affordable Much better reviews for the resort Closer to tourist stuff I will have to make up my mind soon though! I have also looked into offsite wedding planners to see what they offer and their pricing. Choosing adults only was not an option as we may have a couple of little ones coming. Choosing Negril was also not an option due to the pricing. If it had been just the 2 of us we would definitely be choosing Couples!
  9. Thanks for the very detailed review. It was very helpful!
  10. Can people advise me how you are getting around using a local outside photographer? Everyone that I have talked to there keeps telling me explicitly that we are not allowed to use any photographers that are jamaican, it doesn't matter if they are my guests or have a room. I really do like this resort, but I want real photos. Thanks!
  11. You could do something like choose a separates line and the colour and let everyone choose their tops and bottoms, and or dresses. I think Alfred Angelo does something like this. Alfred Angelo... Find the perfect Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, Prom Dress, Flower Girl Dress or Mother of the Bride Dress at Alfred Angelo.
  12. In trying to decide where to spend the extra on upgrades etc... I know here people only remember the food. Food makes or breaks a great wedding here. But when you are down south whether it be Jamaica or elsewhere, what is something(s) that your guests remembered, still rave about, really appreciated, etc Is it the cake, the fact that you hired private airport transfers, a group excursion that you arranged and paid for, etc... Thanks!
  13. Congrats. Head on over to the Jamaica board, the ROR brdes are just wonderful and they will be able to help you!
  14. Since we are still trying to decide if it will be ROR or GP, we have a bunch of questions, and some from our guests. Alot of it is just conflicting information from reading trip reviews, and differing statements on Sunquest and RIU site regarding retaurants. 1 - Where is the pond gazebo loacted? On the side with the JR Suites, or Regular Rooms? 2 - Is the only difference between JR Suites and Reg Rooms, access to 2 additional Restaurants, a sunken living room, and a single whirlpool in the bathroom? 3 - Besides Dunn River Falls. does anyone know or have a list of the tours available? This is all that my mom cares about! 4 - This is all regarding the restaurants... Sir John Gourmet Mandalay Bay Asian Buffet Piccola Italian Buffet Mammee Bay Steakhouse St. Ann Buffet Are the above 5 open to everyone?, Are reservations required at all of them except St. Ann? The dinner dress code... Is it in effect for all restaurants including all of the buffets? Men must wear long pants for dinner...does this include jeans? Sir Richard Gourmet Tushima Japanese These 2 are for guests staying in JR Suites? They do require resevtions? Which restaurants are open for lunch? Which restaurants have air conditioning? ***For all of the restauarants that require reservations, the sitting times are 7PM, and 9PM? 5 - Does anyne have Chandlyn's email? The email that RIU weddings gave me is incorrect as it bounces back. 6 - I thought all of the rooms faced the beach? But from looking at pictures where people have posted mountain views I guess I was wrong. To get an Oceanview JR Suite is it just FCFS? That's all for now! Thank you so much to everyone that takes the time to answer my questions.
