  1. Ladies, please share your opinions. These are for one week departing from Vancouver BC; all are per-person and inclusive of all taxes and fees. I also have rates for departure from Calgary and Toronto, but the majority will be coming from Vancouver. Riu Jalisco Hotel Room $1948.25 (double), $1918.25 (triple) Family Room $2027.25 (double), $1992.25 (triple) Riu Vallarta Hotel Room $2031.25 (double), $1997.25 (triple) Juinor suite $2059.25 (double), $2030.25 (triple) Deposit is $200 and the minimum is 10 paying passengers (5 rooms) to receive group rates quoted). Thoughts?
  2. My FI and I have contacted a TA from CAA, who came as a recommendation from a close family member. The last contact I had from them was Thursday November 20 2008. She was "waiting to receive group rates from various suppliers, and she may have to go back to their preferred suppliers to price-match. She said she would forward group rates once I have received confirmation." I emailed them almost a week ago for a follow up on Sunday December 7, 2008; no out of office notification was received. My FI is getting anxious to get things moving along (surprised??) and I'm trying to be patient. I know they are busy and have many other clients, but I'm not sure what else to do.
  3. Great idea!! And when they use it at the destination, it will be the easiest way to spot the guests and fellow Canadians!
  4. Ok, I did a search for travel medical insurance and read lots of posts (thanks ladies!) Several relatives of mine are retired or semi-retired and are cardiac patients. They will get travel medical insurance, so no problem there. I know they'd get the all clear to travel, but I'm a bit worried about once we've arrived. I would like our families to be able to go to a facility like Amerimed Hospital and get immediate medical attention without worrying about the cost. Is that even possible? Can anyone recommend a specific insurance provider? Mine currently does not have any stuffing at all. It's just hanging on a hanger in the garment bag. Did you have your dress packed with tissue paper and such to take it on the plane? I just called American Airlines to tell them I would be carrying on a dress. (I was told that if you called them ahead of time they would be very accommodating and let you hang it in the closet.) They told me I need to be prepared to ROLL IT UP and put it in the overhead bin. WTF?!? We put in an upgrade request, so hopefully we'll get first class, but holy cow I can't imagine rolling up my dress!!! How did you guys handle this? TIA!! I haven't dealt with this yet, but have you considered shipping it there ahead of time via UPS, Purolator, etc..?
  6. Ugh!! I've been trying to find an invitation I like online and so far I've been striking out. My FI wants a traditional invitation and not a passport or boarding pass type. I'm thrilled he wants to be involved b/c its a complete 180 degrees from 2 years ago. Thanks for the links in this thread ladies. I will start looking once again!! lol!!
  7. From Destination Wedding Etiquette - DestinationWeddings.com Quote: When choosing a wedding party for your destination wedding, it might be a bit harder than if you were planning a traditional wedding. Your wedding party will probably be smaller than an at-home wedding. Destination wedding etiquette dictates that you should pay for the travel and other expenses of your wedding party. Be sure to give extra notice to your wedding party so that there will be no conflicts on your chosen dates, and let them know that you're going to be paying their way, so that those people you've chosen don't feel that they'd have to decline due to not being able to afford the trip I was planning on waiting to see who's confirmed to come and THEN ask a MOH to stand for me. The most important people have already said they'd be there (immediate family anyway). I was planning on asking my sister, my FI's sister, or one of my gf's who book. I'm just starting to save now for a January/February 2010 wedding. I don't know if I can afford to pay for another person to come to PV on top of everything else. Any thoughts or advice? (By the way, what's an AHR??)

  10. OMG!! Obviously she thinks very highly of her boobs and much less about good taste & decency. I have to send that to my FI!! Lots of funnies at Ugly Dress.com Ugh!! Slimeball!!
  11. I sometimes do before a flight, depending on my frame of mind and what I'm thinking about. My nerves affect my tummy, so I take my Rx and everything eventually is ok. I used to take Gravol (the 4 hour kind, not long acting 12+ hr) and that helped me doze through the flight. The turbulence actually lulls me to sleep!!

  14. I'm having the same thoughts too. My soon to be SIL is going to be in town at the end of the month & I wanted to corral her, my mom, my sister & my soon to be MIL to go dress shopping. My FI & I are getting married in the winter 2009 in PV but that's pretty much the only decision we've made. I'm thinking that I'm going to wait until we book the hotel. I already have a style in mind (strapless tea length silk dress) so I figure I'm ok. Our wedding is going to be very laid-back; thank goodness or I'd lose my mind!!

  16. My sweetie proposed on my 29th birthday this year after we've been together for 4 years
  17. Does know about weddings at the Crown Paradise Club/Golden Crown Paradise and who to talk to about planning one? My fiancée & I are thinking it's the perfect spot, especially with the Crown Paradise Club next door for our friends with kids. We haven't seen a travel agent yet but hopefully we will soon. I wouldn't dream of planning this without one & a WC!!
  18. Thanks so much everyone!!
  19. I have NO idea what I want to do for my big day. Here are my details: 1. Name: Amy 2. Wedding date: not known yet 3. Wedding location: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico We're seriously considering getting married in Mexico at our favorite resort the Golden Crown Paradise Club. We are also thinking of doing a reception back at home for those who couldn't make it, but it will be very laid back. I'm trying for a small, intimate ceremony & reception. No budget yet, no guest list, no dress, etc...
