UPDATE They're not coming citing financial difficulties. It hasn't sunk in yet, I'm still trying to absorb the news. He told FI & I in the restaurant and TOLD ME NOT TO BE UPSET AT HIM!! I'm sad, angry, disappointed and deeply hurt. I feel that I'm not important to him or a priority. As I've said in a previous post, they've known about this since June 2008 (1 year & 4 months). Since we got engaged, they bought a manufactured home and a tent trailer. I'm trying not to be upset at someone who clearly doesn't give a shit about the most important day in my life. FI and I are totally doing our DW our way and I'm going to ask my godfather to give me away. I know he'll be tickled pink to do it. If my dad figures out a way to come, he can sit and watch for all I care. I'm sorry for my babbling post. I'm experiencing so many emotions now I don't know where to start. Thanks for listening ladies.

That is disgusting. He should be fired. Period. Like a f'ing marriage license would stop people from having kids. Lots of loving parents aren't married. I hope in the end they can get married.

FI and I did ours yesterday, kinda late with less than 4 months to go. Some people who aren't coming actually asked if we are going to have one so they could get us a wedding gift. We weren't sure what to put on there, since we have mostly what we need already. We scanned items that we'd LIKE to have, and other new items like towels, sheets & duvet. I found the supplementary information they gave us helpful (checklists, suggestions etc)

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm facing the same dilemma right now with our DW. My MIL wants to throw me a shower (& host it too). Some of my friends are inquiring and I'd love to see others who can't go and have a good time. I'm leaning towards asking guests who are coming specifically NOT to bring a gift. I'm going to watch this thread and see what other members think.

Wow, that's terrible news!! I'd be wary of getting a check from the owner, as you mentioned. If it were me, I'd ask for a money order (wherever possible). I'm not sure how the process works, but once they file for bankruptcy, you might be able to file a claim against the company. Hopefully you still have the receipt for the $600.

Wow, that's scary sh*t!! I'm glad you're okay, once your adrenaline came down!! lol I had a similar thing happen to me when I was 14 or so. I was walking up the hill of my street - imagine our street is a capital "L" and we live in the corner viewing up to the top. I left my house walking somewhere (too long ago, can't remember where) and I saw this strange looking guy going in the same direction. I passed him, he crossed the street afterwards and was now walking a short distance behind me. I could sense him (yes at 14) speeding up his pace and getting closer. By the time he was almost within arm's reach, I made it to my friends house, unannounced, and ran for the door. I was screaming for help and crying hysterically while banging on the door. They opened it and he creepy sh*thead ran!! I WILL NEVER FORGET HIS FACE!! E.V.E.R. A few years later, he came into a fast food joint I worked in (shelling fried chicken) a few times. I hid in the back and explained to the manager why I refused to serve him. I didn't want him to know I worked there. He had gained A LOT of weight but otherwise seemed normal. He ordered his food and left like everyone else. I figured he had mental-health issues and was self-medicating with illegal drugs when he followed me. Wow, I totally understand what you're going through. I think every bride here is or was in the same situation. My vent: I have people who told me they couldn't go when I sent out the STD's and I still sent them the invites (out of respect mostly). Those people have NOT responded to tell me what they already decided!!! It would be great if they were able to come, but c'mon, I put return postage on the RSVP people!!! We leave in 3 months & 4 days!! UGH!!! P.S. - I love the title of this thread!! There should be a general WTF thread for crazy things that don't make sense (if there isn't one already).
