  1. Another ERC bride anxiously waiting to read about your experience! Congratulations!
  2. Has anyone heard from Veronica lately? I emailed her last week just to touch base, telling her that my save the dates have been sent out, my photographer is booked, and we are just waiting for flight info to come out at the end of the month so we can book our trip. I still haven't heard back from her. I wasn't really asking her for a response, but I guess I was just hoping to hear back for validation. She had reassured me about a month ago that our wedding date (10.24.09) was saved at ERC and just to let her know when we actually book. Maybe I'm just being silly and working myself up over nothing, which I tend to do a lot.
  3. Another short bride here. I'm 5'1" and my fiance is 6'1". I always wear high heels so I don't look AS short next to him. When I ordered my dress, I had them measure me in 3 inch heels since that's what I always wear and I wanted to wear fun shoes on my wedding day. Now I'm starting to think I was crazy for doing that since I'll be getting married in the sand and my feet are probably going to kill at the reception but too late now... haha. I was getting discouraged with dress shopping for awhile because I felt like I looked more "first communion" than a 25 year old bride since so many of the really pretty dresses swallowed me up.
  4. Hmmm... I honestly have no idea how altering jewelry works, but can you take these pics to a jeweler and have it made exactly how you want it instead?

The dresses I like were part of a trunk sale so my daughters and I went back out Sunday and tried the dresses back on and took good pictures. So, are you going to post the pics for us?!
  7. Ok, I feel better now! I hadn't heard of it before either but recently heard it from two different people. Now that I think about it, how could an alcohol based sanitizer damage metal? On another note, it's nice to see other RNs on here!
  8. Does anyone know if hand sanitizers like Purell cause damage to rings? I've heard people say they can weaken prongs or cause discoloration but I haven't been able to find any information confirming this online. My jeweler told me that I shouldn't have to worry about my platinum rings. Does anyone have any information or experience with these products damaging jewelry? I'm a nurse so I use hand sanitizer about 100000 times a day. Maybe some of you other nurse-brides have some input?
  9. I don't know much about Playacar Palace but I did contact them for info back when I was first starting my resort search. This is the 2008 wedding package info they sent me, but their wedding packages for 2009 or 2010 will probably be similar in terms of what's included. Hope this helps a little! PP Wedd CV 08-09.doc
  10. LOVE the dresses! cdc0427, definitely start looking for your dress now. You'll get an idea of what you like and don't like on you. Besides, it's so fun! Might as well make the experience last as long as possible!

I want the message in the bottles and they are too expensive to send to everyone that's not coming too. Do you think that's alright? -Cachet So how will you know who to send invitations to? Are you just sending invitations to people who verbally tell you they are coming?? Also, I think tcram is probably looking to book a vacation package (flight+hotel) which is why she is saying that she can't book yet. That's why we haven't booked yet at least! I can't wait to check that off the list!
  12. I was looking for someone in the RM since I can't really afford to fly someone down to do my hair and make up. Thank you though!
  13. I'm very interested in this, too. I heard some not so great things about the salon at my resort. Otherwise, I guess I have to practice doing my own!

I guess that will depend whether my hair will be up or down. My FI is insisting I grow it... the hair...not the pearls I think hair up really shows off the neckline and the back of the dress. You have really nice shoulders so I think it would look really pretty on you, especially if you are going to wear pearls!
  15. Other than sending out my save the dates, I feel like there isn't anything else for me to do right now! I was planning on waiting until January or February to send out invitations. I want to include travel info but we won't know that until end of Nov/Dec. I've been making a music playlist for the reception when I find myself feeling like I need to get something done! Things I still need to do: invitations book travel dress alterations grooms/ groomsman attire DJ? OOT bags rings Is there something major that I'm forgetting?? The only other thing I might consider is ordering artificial flowers.
  16. Heather, you are on the ball! I can't believe you already have so many people booked! I still need to get my boarding pass STDs printed. Guess I need to pick up the pace a little!

I'm having little anxiety attacks over the possibility of rain- I've heard when it rains it may only rain for 5 min. and be over...anyone know how true that is? I keep tracking the weather daily... I think that makes four of us 10/24/09 brides?! I was totally freaking out about the possibility of rain at first. We all want our wedding day to be perfect! Now that I've been planning for a few months, I've kind of come to terms with the fact that no one can control the weather. We have been keeping the attitude that we are going to have a great time no matter what! Although those positive thoughts might change to panic again when next October gets closer... haha!
  18. beautiful dress! love the detail on top and the light, flowy bottom! and the back is gorgeous too!
  19. Yes! We want to see the dress! Mine doesn't come in until March. So far away!
  20. MAK and MissLucky7Bride- I'm getting married October 24, 2009, too! We are date triplets! We have booked our wedding date at the resort, booked a TA to help with travel arrangements, made a website, bought my dress, and started to design our invitations. That's really it! I've been in contact with the photographer we are hoping to book but haven't actually booked yet. Our next plan of action is STDs and invitations. I don't know if we should send STDs now and then send more travel information with the invitations, or if we should send travel info with the STDs.
  21. I voted for the $600-$1000 range, but maybe I should have voted for the $1000-2000. I actually told myself that I'd spend $1200 tops. My dress was $800 but I had some custom work added to the bottom hem so it was $1000. With alterations, I will be around the max end of my budget.
  22. I am so happy for you and your family! How wonderful that you were able to have a ceremony at the hospital with your parents present. As a nurse in cardiac surgery, I had such empathy for you when I first read your story and have kept you in my thoughts. It's such great news to hear that everything went well and that your parents were able to see how beautiful you looked in your wedding dress! Congratulations on being legally married! I will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts and wish you all the best.
  23. It drives me crazy when people list all the things that could go wrong with your destination wedding, and it usually comes from people who have never even been to one. I've started to reply back with rediculous things that could go wrong at a hometown wedding. The venue could get struck by lightening and burn down, there could be a massive pile up on the highway and everyone gets stuck in traffic, everyone at the wedding could get food poisoning... Do you have an actual date and resort booked yet? My parents were all for the destination wedding idea, but my fiance's family didn't seem to take us seriously. It seems like once we had a date and time formally booked, they realized it was really going to happen and are actually excited about it now. Now we are having the opposite problem-- they are inviting too many people! Maybe this could be the case with your family once they realize that you WILL be getting married in Mexico, no matter how much they b*tch and moan about it? This day IS about you and you are allowed to be selfish! Especially if you are the ones paying for it. The people who matter most will find a way to get there! Stay firm. You and your fiance should have the wedding YOU want!
  24. I wanted to add that Jennifer has been great with answering my questions and responding quickly. I know many brides here have had good experiences with BDW TAs!
