  1. Tammy recruited them to work with the brides on this forum. If you go to the travel forum, there is a sticky about it: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t10706

My biggest concern with reordering would be that something could not go as planned and the dress wouldn't come on time. Color aside, the dress is gorgeous!!! I don't think it would be possible for you to not look perfect on your wedding day in that!
  3. The banners just show the areas that those TAs specialize in. It doesn't mean that they can't help with any other areas. TA Jennifer is going to be our TA for our wedding at the Excellence Riviera Cancun even though it lists her as specializing in St. Lucia and Jamaica. TAs Jennifer, Tammy, and Jill may be familiar with resorts in the Riviera Maya outside of Cancun. You could try one of them!
  4. LOVE the color! The cut is really cute too and like you said, you have 7 months to grow it longer.
  5. Hi Ashley! You're wedding is right around the corner!
  6. We were going to keep it a secret from my fiance's family because we thought his parents might be upset if they knew it wasn't the real thing. FI's mother actually asked us if we considered getting married here first for the sake of convenience and that's when we told her that we would be getting married here first. I'm not going to announce it to all my guests, but to us our wedding in Mexico on October 24, 2009 IS our real wedding so I don't think it's deceiving. Our anniversary will be celebrated on Oct 24th. The legal ceremony in the US is just being considered as paperwork. People attend At Home Receptions without attending the actual destination ceremony with no problem. If you think your guests will care though, they don't have to know! :-)

My fiance and I are getting married in the Riviera Maya next fall! We are actually going to get legally married here before we go, but we are thinking of it just as a formality. Our wedding in Mexico will be our real wedding day and that is when we will celebrate our anniversary. For me, I will feel much more calm knowing all the legal stuff is set and I can just enjoy the day! Happy planning!
  8. Welcome! You're wedding is soooo soon! So exciting!
  9. Hi Heather! Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married in the Riviera Maya next fall too! You're wedding will be beautiful!
  10. Welcome! Congrats on picking the location. That's the hardest part! Planning the details now will be a lot of fun!

    Hello!

Hi Jen! Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married in Mexico next October so we have similar planning timelines! We decided to use a travel agent since we have guests coming from all over, too. She's right from this forum! Our wedding is too far out to start booking travel accommodations but I already feel better now that I've heard her game plan for us. It's a little reassuring knowing that if something like a cancelled flight or hurricane were to hit, she will be someone we can turn to! Just wanted to put in my two cents about the travel agent! Happy planning!
  12. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There is TONS of information here about the Riviera Maya!

Welcome to the forum! There are soooo many resorts that have beautiful weddings so you should be able to find a different resort and not feel like you are copying! Definitely check out places like Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. When I was researching locations, I found that there were many resorts on those countries that were more affordable. TripAdvisor was a lifesaver because you can search by star rating and see reviews and pictures )

    Hello!

    Welcome to the forum, Karla!
  15. I am getting married at ERC as well but did look into Secrets Capri. I've never been to either resort but I did do a ton of internet research before picking and heard only good things about both. A big deciding factor for us was size. We are having a good sized group, ages 21 to 84, but mostly 20s-50s. We wanted a larger resort with more space, more restaurant options, activities, etc. It really just depends on the dynamics of your group and how you picture your wedding to be. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them though! I hope everything works out with the Valentin for you since you seem to have your heart set on it!
  16. I loooove your dress!!!! SO pretty! I tried on probably like 10 the first day I went dress shopping with my mom but I didn't love any of them. I went back a few days later on my own to try a few of them on again, but there was a dress I hadn't seen the first time hanging out. I tried it on and loved it! It was exactly what I was looking for so I just bought it without anyone else there for an opinion.
  17. I got confirmation that the dinner lasts three hours, but music and dancing can go on for longer!
  18. Mine is at 5:00pm too. I don't really know how it works. I'm just assuming the cocktail hour comes right after with the dinner reception right after that. Does ceremony at 5:00pm, cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30pm, then dinner at like 6:45 or 7 seem about right?
  19. Jen, This is what I had asked, and she had responded in CAPS: "What time do wedding receptions have to end by at night? THE DINNER IS FOR 3 HOURS." I'm going to email her back to clarify. Maybe the music and dancing can go on for longer, but the dinner staff is only there for 3 hours? I had asked because I had heard other resorts require weddings to end early due to noise. BTW, have you heard any reviews about the DJ at ERC?

Hi Wendi! We are date twins!
  21. There had been some conversation about reception dinner at the Excellence in the Playa Mujeres thread with some varying answers, so I emailed Veronica at Excellence Riviera Cancun to clarify. At ERC, the sit down dinner is 3 hours, open bar included, and you can give your guests two main plate options. I also asked if it would be possible to reserve seats at dinner for our guests the night before at one of the restaurants. I'm not really looking for private, just together. She said the only restaurant where we could do this is at Agave, and it's closed on Fridays. My wedding is on Saturday so I guess I'll need to find a plan B for a welcome dinner. Maybe Thursday if guests arrive by then.
  22. Thanks for sharing. I wonder if there are differences between Excellence Playa Mujeres and Excellence Riviera Cancun. Last week I was told by the WC at ERC that we would only have to pay the $70 day pass for an outside vendor.
  23. Is there really a 40 day residency requirement to get married in France?
