Other than that we are taking our birth certificates, passports and tourist visas with us. We are getting married at the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort on March 26...4 weeks! Hi Bicky11....I'm not sure where you got your information in regards to the divorced female needing different documentation than the male. We got married in October at Sandos and we are both divorced. We were both considered "single" and I didn't have to have my divorce document. The WC did tell us that if we wanted to be listed as divorced on our marriage certificate then we would have to go through the process of getting our divorce certificates translated into spanish. Why anyone would want to do that and go to the extra expense is beyond me. As for the wedding packages, I think they have changed since we got married. We had the basic package and our flowers were included. Good luck. It is a beautiful place to get married.
  2. We got married at the Sandos Riviera Otober 30 and it was awesome. The best part was being barefoot on the beautiful beach. Wendy

  4. Hi everyone We were married at the Sandos on October 30. It was absolutely beautiful. Everything met or surpassed our expectations but we also had a very low maintenance wedding. It was only ourselves and 4 others and was informal. I am very happy we chose that resort because of the undeveloped beach next door. We were able to get some amazing photos there. Our photographer was Octavio Montes from Cancun. He was awesome. I highly recommend him and he is very affordable. He was so affordable I was worried about the pictures we were going to get but we were extremely pleased. He has a great personality and was very concerned with providing us with all the photos we were wanting. I know what you mean about the lack of communication. I had the same problem but as all we were looking for was sun, sand and ocean I just crossed my fingers and went for it. I think you will also find the closer it gets to the wedding day, the quicker the WC will respond to you. The WC is very nice and wanted to please us. She has an assistant so I'm not sure if they need more help or they just run on "Mexician time." My only concern at this point is we still haven't received our wedding certificate. We never thought to get it before we left and my requests to have it sent to us have gone unheeded. I'm going to try to contact management now and hopefully get some results there. I have my photos on facebook and I'm currently checking out photo sharing web sites so I can upload them there. It was frustrating to me when I was researching this resort as there was very limited info out there and I couldn't find anyone who had been married there so whatever I can do to help, let me know. Congratulations and good luck to all!! Wendy
  5. Hi We also have Octavio for our photographer and I agree with everything the previous poster said. We were married on October 30 at the Sandos Playacar Riviera Resort by Playa del Carmen. Octavio was very easy to work with and was always concerned we were getting the pictures we wanted. We were extremely happy with the pictures and everyone has commented on what great photos we had. The files are the CD are high res. I definitely recommend him. If you would to see the photos from our wedding just PM me. Best wishes for your upcoming weddings. Wendy
  6. Hi Does anyone have pictures or can you share any info on the photographer at the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort. Your help is greatly appreciated.
  7. Hi Tod, I haven't settled on one specifically. We were leery about using the resort's photographer. We are getting married at Sandos Playacar Beach Resort by Playa del Carmen October 30 and need to find a photographer in the area as we don't have the budget to pay for travelling expenses. I really appreciate your donation by the way.
  8. Thanks for the good wishes! I will definitely post a review with pictures when we get back. 19 days to go!
  9. Thanks everyone!!! Thank you for the wishes. I wish I had found this site earlier. I will definitely post a review when we get back. I have been hearing lately how great the wedding planner is and what an awesome beach they have so I'm hoping for the best. Actually, the wedding is so small and I am so happy about marrying the greatest guy, that as long as it doesn't rain it will be great!!
  10. Hi everyone. We are getting married at the Sandos in 27 days...October 30!! I agree I was a bit nervous because communication with the WC seemed to be delayed but when my date got closer the communication came quicker and more often so I agree with other posters that we need to remember we aren't the only ones getting married and they deal with time sensitive weddings first and fit in what they can inbetween. If you haven't been on Trip Advisor it is a great site for information with reviews and pictures posted. Sandos is supposed to have the nicest and biggest beach (due to erosion from hurricanes) in the Playa Del Carmen area and they sure seemed to the best rates for what you get. We weren't looking for total luxury and it is a very small wedding so we feel confident that we have chosen the place right for us. I'll post after we get to back to let you know how everything went. FYI - We are headed to Isla Mujeres for our honeymoon the week after, renting a beach front cottage. Really looking forward to that.
  11. We decided to fly from Minneapolis because we saved over $500 per person over flying from Winnipeg, and for five of us, that amounted to over $2,500 for a 4-star by Playa Del Carmen!! An inconvenience I know, but on a limited budget, $2,500 is ALOT! We also have friends in Minneapolis so can stay there overnight and fly the next morning.
  12. Hi all. My name is Wendy and my finance is Kelly. We are getting married at the Sandos Playacar Riviera Beach Resort on October 30, 2008. I'm here because I'm still making arrangements and trying to find information about photographers. I'm a little leary about using the resort's photographer but also am on a budget, so not sure which way to go. This is our second marriage and we are just having an informal beach wedding with 4-6 guests so will be very low maintenance. And as you have to have 4 witnesses, that pretty much takes care of any of the guests taking pictures! If anyone has any experience or ideas, please let me know.
