I hadn't thought of this until just now, but is there an extra charge for open bar at the reception? How does the alcohol situation work?

It seems really hard to pick just one meal for 40 (or 80... or 120..) people!

I was a little put off my the menu but my parents saw it and thought it sounded great. Does anyone know how the menu works for dinner? Do we have to pick one meal for everyone? Or can we give our guests a choice?

Endlesslove, I emailed ERC after reading your post and Veronica wrote back introducing herself as the new WC. I haven't gotten any information other than pricing either but I really want to see cake and flower options! Jennifer, have you gotten any information about flowers, cakes, etc from EPM? Maybe the options are the same/similar at the two resorts. I know what you mean about the anniversary thing. FI and I decided that our legal day is just going to be thought of as paperwork and our actual wedding at ERC is going to be our REAL wedding. I'll be more comfortable and relaxed if all the legal stuff is done before we leave however I tend to be a worry wart.

Hi girls! Just wanted to see how planning was going for all the ERC brides. I still don't have much besides a verbal wedding date confirmation from Noemi, but I bought my dress and have some centerpiece and flower ideas! How about the rest of you, any updates?

A travel agent can certainly help you out picking a destination if you really have trouble picking one on your own. I started by researching different resorts in almost every destination possible on this forum and tripadvisor. I spent a TON of time reading reviews and looking at traveler photos of different resorts with high ratings and eventually narrowed it down from there. We wanted adults only and all inclusive so that ruled out a lot of resorts. From there, I emailed the wedding coordinators of our top three resorts for package and pricing info. I starting looking for a travel agent once we had a date booked at the resort we picked. We won't be seeing this resort before we go for the wedding so we're just trusting the good reviews! That's just the way we did it and so far it's working for us. We are getting married next October so we are waiting to send out invites until flights and vacation packages for that time come out. We are thinking about skipping STDs and just sending invites with all the info around Feb? You'll find a ton of information and different ways of doing things from brides on here. How about just "reception immediately following ceremony"?

I'm not too much help but I've been having the same concerns so I wanted to add some thoughts. I've been to Cancun in June and there were short 20 minute thunderstorms in the afternoons a few days. I've been to Playa del Carmen in Feb which is supposedly a nicer month, but it rained and was cold the entire time. I also went to Playa in July one year and it was beautiful the entire time. You just can't predict the weather. I personally would go for a venue that has an indoor back up that you are happy with just in case (and for peace of mind more than anything!). So many people have said great things about Dreams Tulum. My wedding is set for Oct of 2009 and I was really stressing about the weather. My fiance and I just decided to go with somewhere that had a rain back up we were okay with. There's always a chance that it may rain no matter what time of year you go, so we are trying to keep a positive mind set and decided we will have a good time despite what the weather may bring!

We will just have to hope for the best I guess! I wanted to change the date to a different month but my FI is so against it. He thinks I worry too much! I went to Playa Del Carmen about 5 years ago in February and it was cold and rainy for the whole week so you just never know. We definately will be doing the "no rain" dance!

Hi All! We are getting married on October 2, 2009 at 5pm at the Excellence Riviera Cancun. I know October is a rainy month in RM but that is a good time for our schedules. No one can predict the weather, but is the chance of rain less at the end of the month since it's closer to November? We'd consider pushing our date back to later in the month if so. Any previous October Riviera Maya brides have issues with rain

We were told by the WC that ceremony times are at 11, 3, and 5 from April to October and 11, 2, and 4 from November to March. Maybe they can do ceremonies at other times if they don't have any other weddings booked that day?

Congrats Karina0512! We're planning on doing the symbolic wedding to avoid the whole blood tests and translation thing. A marriage certificate isn't listed under required documents so I'm assuming we don't need it. I wonder if anyone on here has met or had their wedding with Noemi. She seems really sweet!

Here's another question for your girls. What time are you having your ceremony at ERC? Does anyone know if receptions have to end by a certain time at night? I have asked that question in a few emails but that question has gotten skipped over.

October 2009 here also! I keep asking my FI if he is suuuuure he doesn't want to move it up to June because October seems so far away! Like a lot of you, we are paying for our wedding ourselves and wanted more time to save.

Hi Girls! We got confirmation for our October 2009 date Noemi didn't mention any deposit to book the date, just that she put us down in her agenda. Hopefully we will get more detailed information about wedding packages soon. Did anyone else read the recent thread about privacy during beach wedding ceremonies? It concerned me a little! I know people will be on the beach, but I really don't want a bunch of sunbathing people in my wedding photos

October 2009 seems so far away right now but it fits best with everyone's schedules. I saw the trip advisor reviews about the thefts, too. It does worry me a bit, but I keep reminding myself that thefts can (and do) happen anywhere. I'm interested to hear the response your TA gets from ERC. What is the deposit that is needed to book the wedding date? Is it a certain amount of money for the rooms or is it a certain amount of money for the wedding itself? If the deposit is for the rooms, does everyone attending have to pay the deposit in order to book the wedding or just the bride and groom? Sorry for all the questions! I just figure that it's easier and faster to get answers here than to email the WC and wait for a response. I just want to get this booked already! Maybe I need to look into getting a TA...

Hi endlesslove! I'm excited to have found another ERC bride! 2010 will come soon enough! I've never been to ERC and unfortunately won't be able to make a site visit before we go for our actual wedding. The only information I have is what is from here and tripadvisor... and of course, pictures of previous wedding from Elizabeth Medina and Del Sol Photography. Do you know what is required to actually book the wedding date? Have you been able to get the information you request when she does respond? I'm hoping she will send me a list of pricing options other than what's on the website since that is what most of my questions are about. Hopefully after that I will have some useful information to share!
