  1. I just sent my invitations out today with an RSVP date of August 1, so I haven't had to deal with people not RSVPing just yet. But I'm going to pissed if I wasted all those stamps!
  2. Have you posted your ring in the "show us your rings" thread? We'd love to see it!
  3. Denise, your pictures came out awesome! You looked so beautiful!!!
  4. Jaime, I apologize if you already posted this idea, but can your doctor give you a note to keep with you to show anyone who gives you a hard time?

Some of our guests were worried and got Tamiflu from their doctors. Now that I am down here, I feel there is NOTHING to worry about. I think the media has put such a hype on the flu and it seems silly, in my opinion. We had a WONDERFUL wedding and things could not have gone better. The resorts are empty so you get the resort to you and your guests-major bonus! My husband and I will be in the Cancun area for another week and we don't plan on cutting any of our trip short. I hope this helps some of you brides who are getting married soon. Good luck Thanks Kristin for the encouraging post! Congratulations on getting married! I'm so happy you went along with your plan and had a great time.
  6. To go along with what Koolatta said, February 14 IS a very popular wedding date so it will probably book up fast. Some resorts won't let you book a date longer than one year out, which is why you should probably wait to have a resort picked out AND a confirmed date before you send out your save the dates. My resort did allow me to book more than a year out, but my first choice date of Columbus day weekend was already unavailable! And that was almost a year and a half in advance. You have so much time that I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting that Feb 14 date. Once that happens, the whole wedding thing starts to seems real and you can move onto the fun planning stuff!
  7. You have almost 2 years until your wedding, so I would wait until you confirm the wedding date with a resort before you send out save the dates. You still have time to do some research on destinations! My wedding is this October 2009. I spent last summer doing research on different destinations and resorts using this forum and trip advisor mostly. We had our date confirmed with the wedding coordinator at the resort we chose by August 2008, 15 months in advance. We sent out our Save the Dates in November 2008, 11 months in advance. We were going to send out invitations out last week (6 months in advance) with an RSVP deadline of August 1, but I'm holding onto them for another week or so until this swine flu thing hopefully dies down. We gave our travel agent a very general idea of how many guests we were inviting and how many of those we thought might actually come, but we didn't need an actual group number to start working with her. There are travel agents on this forum that have lots of experience with destination weddings and they are great! They would be able to help you pick a resort and book travel arrangements for you and your guests.
  8. Hello and welcome to the forum! I'm getting married in Mexico in October and we're still going ahead with our plans. There's been NO documented cases in the Riviera Maya (where our wedding is) but there HAS been documented cases where we live. We had planned on sending out our invitations this past week but are holing off for a few weeks until the hype dies down because we didn't want everyone to reply "no" right away. If it's something that really concerns you, you have plenty of time to change your location. Where in Mexico are you thinking of getting married in? Forum members should be able to give you some resort suggestions that fit your requirements!
  9. That's definitely normal! My dress is at my parents house an hour away from me. Sometimes I make plans to go out there just so I can put my dress on!
  10. I don't see a reason to freak out about going to Mexico since it's in the U.S., too. This is right from the CDC website: "From December 2005 through February 2009, a total of 12 human infections with swine influenza were reported from 10 states in the United States. Since March 2009, a number of confirmed human cases of a new strain of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection in California, Texas, and Mexico have been identified. An investigation into these cases is ongoing." CDC - Influenza (Flu) | Swine Influenza (Flu)
  11. I absolutely looove the casablanca on you! I have a casablanca dress too! The details on the dresses are amazing.

I know things get lost in the mail sometimes but I just find that comment from them odd.
  13. Lindsey, Egle, or Katusha, Did you or are you bringing a lot of wedding stuff on the plane with you like decorations, OOT bags, favors, etc. Or having them shipped? Any word of advice on that?
  14. Yikes. Is it possible to speak to someone above her about all the concerns like lack of info and really just overall lack of wedding coordinating? She can't just make up all the rules for ERC weddings on her own, right?
  15. Lindsey, Thanks for the info! Was there any extra cost for your welcome dinner?
  16. Katusha, Please let us know what she says! Is she saying it's $18 a person to have a private welcome dinner? Or $18 a person just for everyone to eat as a group at one of the restaurants? I have just about given up on a welcome dinner unless our parents want to pay to have one off the resort somewhere. She told me Agave is the only one who will take a reservation in advance for a group that large, but they aren't open Fridays and our wedding is on a Sat. I suppose we could do a Thursday welcome dinner, but not if I have to pay extra just to eat together.
  17. Oh, I have everything saved since I first started talking to Noemi, the last WC, last July! I've had to forward emails to Veronica that she previous wrote to me in order to clarify conflicting info from her a few times already. About the meal thing, that was a few months ago, but I had to email her twice to get an answer. I forwarded her the email she sent me in September saying that we could choose two meal options for our guests. She finally wrote back saying that we could give our guests options to choose from, but I'd have to let her know in advance. But she told you that you don't have to choose? I don't really get what I need to do about meals still. I still haven't sent out my invitations yet, mostly because of this meal ordeal. I don't know if I should have people specify their meal choice on their reply card or not. I'm afraid that if they choose their meals and then Veronica changes what she said again, my guests will be annoyed that they didn't get the dinner they chose. Is anyone having their guests specify meal preferences on their reply cards

Of course we want to hear all about it! The more details the better! Will you be writing a review in the wedding review forum? 1.How many guests did you have? Where was your ceremony and reception? Did you feel it was private enough? Did you have a welcome dinner? 2.Did you have the spa do your hair and make up? 3.What did you think of the decorations, bouquet/flowers, cake? How was the food? 4.How did the day before the wedding where you meet with Veronica to finalize details go? Was ERC flexible in making wedding arrangements that you wanted? I know this is one thing that makes me nervous... not having details like my bouquet and cake finalized until a day or so before my wedding! Sorry for all the questions!
  19. Hi Shannon! If you do a search, you will find some threads about ERC. There are quite a few of us getting married there! Here are a few threads to get you started. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t34210 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t20852 http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t25638
  20. $150 really isn't a big deal but it still just seems silly that if the photographer comes early a couple hours before the ceremony to photograph the bride getting ready, they have to pay the full day pass and not the wedding day pass? It's not like the photographer is there to use ERC's beach and eat their food. Oh well, could be worse.
  21. I just read that list of things to avoid and now I'm doing cat food research on the internet tonight! I was going to say that I have been feeding my cats Purina One Sensitive Systems and there has been MUCH less vomiting. Could just be a coincidence. It does have soybean and corn meal in it though but none of the other bad ingredients on the list. Why would they put carcinogens and pesticides in pet food? Makes me want to make my own cat food!
  22. OMG, I don't have any advice, but our cat does the same thing! She's been doing it for years. We have two 5 year old short haired tabby cats that actually look very similar to yours. One of them pukes ALL the time! It's so frustrating. Just yesterday, she was sitting on the window ledge and puked into a box of stuff I had on the floor under the window. My pictures, resume, college transcripts, etc were in there. Thankfully we have wood floors or we would have some nasty carpet stains. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom or gotten up for work when it's still dark out and stepped in cat puke. SO GROSS. It's usually food that comes up too, not fur. I've been thinking about taking her to the vet but she is an absolute nightmare to take anywhere. Other than that, she seems happy and healthy so I don't know what her deal is?
  23. Target has some really cute inexpensive bathing suits, too!
