  1. Welcome to BDW! Why don't you ask Latoya what she had to do? It might help clear up some of your questions.

    So Excited

Welcome to BDW! We're glad you found us. :-)
  5. Welcome to BDW! There's lots of people getting married in Hawaii on here - so certainly plenty of resources.
  6. Wow - talk about convenient! I hope you go-see goes well. :-)
  7. You might want to ask the Riu. Generally this sort of thing isn't a problem unless the other person taking photos has a professional level camera and lenses... funny how that works huh? lol
  8. I saw this... I really am just speechless. Remember in elementary school when you brought snacks? If you shared them with another student then you had to share with all? Yeah, I feel like she's not sharing and should get points deducted for community spirit.

  10. I'm a huge fan of weight watchers low carb chocolate, which are also high in protein. You can only get it in cans as far as I know, and Sams Club has great prices compared to the grocery stores. Carb Solutions had a really great protein shake, but I think they went out of business.

  12. Yesterday was free day at the zoo, so of course we went. The weather was FANTASTIC - 75 degrees and partly cloudy! We got some great photos that were really cute, so I just wanted to share them. I'll be taking them down soon, but wanted to give you all a chance to look.
  13. I've been in love with the idea of using round ottomans on the beach for our ceremony since I first saw the photo of this. Our florist can get square ottomans for us, and they are $35 each plus the cover... I'm stuck on the round though. So I just got a quote back from a company with round ottomans - $75 each PLUS $50 to $75 for the cover! Holy cow, what are these things made of that they are that expensive?! FI and I bought an ottoman yesterday at Linens 'n' Things for $40 that was covered in a beautiful damask fabric, and it was just this cheap wood with a round hallow base and a round top. So I don't get how these super simple ones would cost $75 without covers? It just goes to show the mark-up prices in the wedding industry I guess.
  14. I'd say $200 would be better than nothing. I'm with the other girls, if it's a white dress try bleaching it. Or use the direct sunlight to bleach it. It that doesn't work maybe you could see if there's a specialty fabric store near you - they might have something that you could replace it with.
  15. Welcome to BDW! Do you already have all of the arrangements made?
  16. Congratulations! That's great that everyone loved it so much!
  17. Welcome to BDW and good luck with the planning!
  18. I could have sworn I already answered this, but maybe it was someone else asking the same question. First, there is nothing wrong with using a resort photographer, but you need to decide if that is what you want and if they provide the quality you are looking for. Sometimes resorts work with quality photographers, and sometimes its a person who really has no training - just a camera. The second seems to be more common though, but is not always the case. The packages from the resort photographers tend to not provide much photo coverage, and very few prints, which are normally smaller sized. Rarely do they ever include digital copies. Professional photographers who aren't through the resort tend to be able to provide better photo coverage and packages with digital copies for the same amount of money or a little more. With photography, building a rapport with your photographer can be one of the biggest parts of getting great photos. If you know your photographer you will normally be more relaxed and get better images. With most resorts you won't meet or speak with your photographer until the day of your wedding. Many brides want to know who they are dealing with ahead of time though. On top of these there are things like language/accent barriers. Being able to understand your photographer is huge, especially for any posed pictures and family/group photos. Finally, there is the legal issue. More than likely with the resort if you had problems with a photographer they will back you up. What about freelance photographers in the area where you are getting married though? If something happened, and it was out of the country it would be hard to take legal recourse, which is why many brides choose to use a photographer in the country/state where they live. Obviously the exception to all of this is freelance photographers who are well known where the wedding is taking place, which brides tend to use. Many BDW photographers have a good established rapport with wedding couples, and you probably would never encounter any problems with them. The biggest thing though is to always check references. :-)
  19. I'm glad I saw this. Best wishes on your birthday Tammy!
  20. I dated a guy a long time ago that wanted us to get married at Atlantis, then we broke up. FI proposed... and of course he also wanted to get married at Atlantis. I just presumed that since two men thought it was so great - well it must be great. BIG mistake. Do your own research, make sure you like it. We went to the bahamas... and I really didn't enjoy it. We aren't getting married at Atlantis because their coordinators wouldn't ever get back to us. We found another location on the island that we both like, but I still don't like the island. The wedding venue is amazing - the rest I could live without ever seeing again. FI is stuck on the bahamas though. Personally, I love the Seychelles, Fiji or Tahiti... but he's not willing to give in. At least we have a great venue though.
