  1. Congratulations on your engagement Trina! What types of places were you thinking for a beach wedding?

Congrats Hazel! I just went and did site visits in May in the Bahamas. I have LOTS of photos in my bio and some video clips from around the cloisters if you would like me to send those to you.
  3. Welcome to BDW. I hope they call you back soon!
  4. Oh my goodness, that is right around the corner... congrats! Where will you be cruising to?
  5. Okay, Halloween is my fav holiday and I have NO CLUE what I'm going to be this year. However, the first night that FI and I spent together I shaved his head bald... so I think he's going to go as Mr. Clean! I don't know what would match that. I guess I could go as the Queen of Clean (Linda Cobb). It's funny though because FI is a total neat freak!
  6. I really wanted to get married in the Seychelles. Normailed showed me pictures of the Baths of Gorda in Virgin Gorda and now I want to photograph a wedding there but I haven't even seen another bride mention it yet! So, my vote goes to Virgin Gorda. Photos of Virgin Gorda: http://tinyurl.com/4mtd98 If we end up doing a cruise, this will totally be our TTD location!
  7. I have no clue about them personally. We went through this though, and I got so aggravated with vendors that I finally told my fiance I wouldn't work with any potential vendor who couldn't respond in at least a week. Have you called other places yet?
  8. Welcome to BDW, Lauren!
  9. Oh Calia, I'm so sorry! I've been through holding a pet that was passing, and I know how heart breaking it is. If you can, see if the vet has some way of checking for FIV, it's like the human form of HIV and can get transferred very easily. If that is the case make sure everything in your house is clean and new (especially the litter box) before adopting a new kitten. Where was the kitten from? He/she may have been sick the whole time. If it was a breeder/shelter/store be sure to let them know.
  10. I've been to a lot of weddings and I rarely ever see menu cards for buffets. However, I really appreciate when they are out. I'm vegetarian, so having a menu card helps me to know if I can eat certain items, because a lot of recipes use chicken/beef stock these days or the meat is so small I can't see it right off the bat. I know people with food allergies really appreciate menu cards as well.
  11. I'm curious how many we have on here. When are you all getting married and where? We had to re-plan everything so sometime next spring. Our location isn't locked in yet, but we got the okay for a private resort/home on the tip of New Providence. (Photos in my bio)
  12. I have a ton of links in my planning bio that you might want to look at. For the Bahamas I would really recommend Old Fort Bay. It was so pretty, very green and lush. http://tinyurl.com/5ygpfn to see photos of locations in Nassau & on Paradise Island.
  13. Haha! Love it! I'm dying to know the whole story about this shoot. She certainly must be comfortable. We've photographed a lot of people, from a variety of industries... but I can say we've every taken engagement photos like that. Are they planning to send these out to family too, or are they just for them?
  14. Congrats! I was in the same boat... except I never thought I'd get married. My fiance and I were both photographing weddings before we even met... so it was perfect! Now I always cry at weddings... I'm such a sap for them. ;-)
  15. Welcome to BDW! I use to live in San Francisco, so I might be of some help. If you are considering wineries check out the Robert Mondavi Winery (Robert Mondavi Winery) and Beringer Vineyards (Beringer Vineyards). Both are very pretty!
  16. I think the whole flushmount thing can be really deceiving. You'd be amazed how many places offer flush mounts, but the gap is still there... usually just a few centimeters, but still noticeable because they tend to be black. There are a few places that offer DIY albums that are flush mount with a very tiny gap though. It might be worth asking your wedding photographer about this.
  17. The photos look great! The main suggestion I would have is to check the photos and make sure none of them are in the center of the page. Depending on the type of album you get, you don't want a line going through your photos - and some albums have a gap.
  18. Have you already started looking at destinations that might be child friendly? Atlantis, Disney World, etc?
  19. They look fantastic! I just photographed a model a few weeks ago that had clip in extensions. After seeing how natural they look (you're the second person), I think I'm going to get some for myself! I love the long layered look, but I hate to lose the length of my hair, so the clip-in extensions would be perfect. What brand did you get? How much were they?
  20. Welcome to the forums! If you are by any chance considering Nassau or Paradise Island let me know. I've been and have lots of information and photos.
  21. I know you can use an outside photographer, but I called (as a bride) when my fiance and I first started looking for a location and they hassled us about it. I don't think they have much legal ground to stand on with that since any photographer with a work permit can work in the Bahamas, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to try to persuade couples otherwise. They do consider outside photographers a wedding guest, and require that they stay at Atlantis. Another interesting thing they told us was that ALL of your wedding guests had to be staying at Atlantis, and that Comfort Suites guests aren't permitted. However, we saw plenty of weddings out there and I didn't see them check for the Atlantis bracelets... so either I was told an outright lie or they don't have a way to control it. I would guess though that they simply don't check for bracelets before the wedding. Here's a link to the FAQ section for Atlantis. I wouldn't bother dealing with Atlantis though. It's too much of a hassle and there are too many other great places to get married. They lost our business already and we found a much cooler venue on the opposite side of Nassau!
