  1. Welcome Alma - check out the Dominican Republic forum and you will find lots of advice on your chosen hotel. Good luck and happy planning!
  2. We sent out Save the Dates via email (and via snail mail to our "no-mail" relatives) directing guests to RSVP via our website or by phone. The STD specifically stated that invites would be sent to those who accepted only. Then I worded the invite as more of a confirmation of their attendance. I'm not sure if you can read the wording clearly, but it says: "We look forward to sharing with you the sun, the sea and the memories of our wedding day."
  3. We purchased ours from Discountmugs and had no issues with the screening. Perhaps it was just the type of mug that Heidi used - note also that her original post is not recent. It's quite possible they have fixed the problem since then. Regarding the temperature - any two-walled mug design (whether it's interior is plastic or stainless) with a lid will keep a drink colder than a one-wall mug design. That being said, when it's almost 100 degrees outside, even the two-walled design can only do so much. The drinks will eventually warm up. The main reason we purchased the mugs for our guests was not so much for keeping the drinks cold (even though that's what we all put on our tags!), but for the size. A lot of AIs pour their drinks in small, disposable plastic glasses which means the drinks get warm really quickly, and they don't hold much, so you're making more trips to the bar! At Dreams they used glass instead of plastic, but our mugs were bigger so they obviously held more of the good stuff! If I have any complaint, it's not about the logo rubbing off, but the sand scratching the shiny surface. However, this didn't bug me (or anyone else). I still use mine to hold my coffee every morning as I commute to work. My sister uses hers to hold drinks around her pool every summer. They were definitely worth the cost and trouble. Here's a picture of ours:

    Hello~

Welcome!! I think you need 150 points before you can access or download pics. But if I'm not mistaken, you can upload. The "how to use the forum" section will have the particulars. Good luck and happy planning!

    Hello!

Welcome Kathleen and congratulations! You'll find tons of info in the Hawaii forum. Good luck and happy planning!
  6. Welcome Shannon! One of the benefits of having a destination wedding is the cost savings. If you compare what it would cost to have an at-home wedding where pretty much everyone invited will attend, vs. a DW where perhaps 25% of those invited will attend, that cuts your budget significantly. Just something to keep in mind while you decide what to do. Even if you chose an at-home wedding, you'll find tons of do-it-yourself ideas on here that will help keep your costs down as well. Good luck and happy planning!
  7. I think most people don't mind buying gifts for second-time-around couples, as it's quite common these days (myself included). But, if you're approaching Elizabeth Taylor status, then may-be a shower would appear to be a little uncouth, lol! In my case, I asked for none, but my mother-in-law threw me a surprise "money tree shower" and after all the hard work she put into organizing it, I was grateful to her even though she specifically went against my wishes. I love her anyway!
  8. Everything looked beautiful Bosi. I especially love the colour of the bridesmaids dresses. Congratulations!
  9. You've truly left no stone unturned in the planning process. No doubt your wedding will be amazing and your guests very impressed! Good luck with the wedding and I'm looking forward to reading all about it when you get back! Well done!!
  10. These aren't your typical "happy pictures", but every time we look at them we laugh our heads off. I even used the last one as my profile pic on Facebook for the longest time! They were taken by my brother-in-law. We saw it coming ... [iNSERT JAWS MUSIC HERE] Smile pretty for the camera ... Honey, does that wave look big to you? Holy sh*t! I think its safe to say the 'do' is ruined, don't ya think?
  11. There's some great stuff on that blog Aisha. Thanks for finding it and sharing it with the ladies.
  12. What a fabulous idea! Thanks for spreading the word. If I had known about this when I was planning my DW I would definitely have utilised it. It's a win-win for everyone involved.
  13. Welcome Toronto Newbies! There is a group of Toronto brides that meet up about once a month. Here's a link to their last meeting invite http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...glinton-56538/ Feel free to introduce yourselves, or keep an eye out for the next meet 'n greet. I'm also from Toronto and was married in Nov/08 at Dreams, P.C. I never would have been able to plan a destination wedding without this site! Happy planning !!
  14. Beautiful job Christina! The blue really pops against the brown and your logo turned out great. Congrats on a job well done!
