I'm glad it doesn't start up again until October 1st! I'd have to miss it because of my moving to Edmonton. I agree that the auditions aren't the best part anyways. I can't wait to pick favorites!

Good job Seaprincess! I hope your shower is extra fun! I just had two, one with my former coworkers and a surprise one my mom and maid of honor threw for me when I was recently in back east to visit them (I cried for the first half hour because I'm not good with surprises haha). It was full of games with sexual innuendo, WINE, hot tubs and people being thrown in the pool! Our invites went out in July and we now have 19 people booked with a few stragglers left. We are getting ready to move so we're holding back on ordering our favors (embroidered beach towels!). For our guest book, we are going to have everyone save their boarding pass from the plane trip and we will put it together in a scrapbook. My bridesmaid dresses should be coming in October...and hopefully my dress too! Cheers to all the January brides for getting the bulk of the job done! Here's to 3 1/2 months till the white sand beaches!

The first part of your problem is a big one which I can't offer any advice. For the overall frustration, just keep your eyes on the prize! It's just you and the love of your life, standing together in front of your friends and family...the rest is just details. I tried fighting my family on who they wanted to invite and had the most terrible time with thoughts of eloping. It occurred to me that unless what they did or said stood in the way of my perfect "I do" moment, it didn't matter!

Wow, this is a tough one. I'm not an expert and can't say I've been in this situation before, but I can sense something is up. I think you need to give it a bit of time and then sit your mom and brother down for a long chat. Explore their thoughts, ask open questions. You might find out something that you would have never known otherwise. It could be something like maybe your mom feels sad/guilty that your father won't see you get married or something really deep. Or, it could be something simple like she thinks she can't afford it. I also have feeling whatever the reason your mom changed her mind, that it may have persuaded your brother to do the same.

When my parents have traveled, they leave cash and often some stuff for kids like stickers and crayons. I also agree about the ball caps and t-shirts! They say the staff is always really appreciative because although the cash is always nice, they don't always have these items available to buy.
