  1. Welcome to another Dreams bride! Have you been in touch with a wedding coordinator yet? If you need any info, I'd be glad to help!
  2. Thanks for the advice ladies, I think I will put on my creative hat today (and be patient) and see what I can make out of it. Maybe it could be a fun project and if it turns out pretty decent I will wear it and if not, I'll do like Morgan said and just wear it for my TTD. Kevsgirl- I did not take pictures of the before sadly...I think my head was in a fog or something. I'll post what I create from it though. This is what it was supposed to look like: What I got had 6 extra, way larger, less wispy feathers that kind of completely stole the show... Alright girls, cross your fingers for me because I'm diving in to arts and crafts mode! Thanks again for being so supportive!
  3. I just thought I would share this with you all because I'm sooo disappointed. I ordered a birdcage veil online, gave all the specifications and much more, received it earlier this week....and HATED it! I was so upset I cried. Since it's "custom" made, it cannot be returned for a refund or anything like that. I decided to put it aside and think of what I could do to fix it. I mean, I can't throw away $180 dollars. First complaint, the first thing my Fi mentioned was how cheap the materials were. He wondered if they were bought at the dollar store. I have to agree, it did not feel like quality materials. Second complaint, the french netting was supposed to have swarovsky crystal dotting. It sure doesn't! Third complaint, I asked for small wispy feathers...pretty sure I got the whole bird! I decided to sit down tonight and fix this mess myself. The way it is put together, I had a hard time pulling it all apart...so...I used my Hulk muscles and ripped the feathers apart. It was quite therapeutic and in the end, it left behind only a few wisps of feathers, like I had originally asked for. Sorry I just had to vent and tell you all about my freak-out that worked in my favor. I may not use the barrette with the feathers and just go and buy a nice jewelled comb instead...try and put this mess behind me. The lesson to learn from this is "buyer beware". Thanks for reading my rant!
  4. Georgous pics! They seem so natural. You both look great and I'm pretty sure Barney is a model...truly adorable!
  5. Welcome to the forum and happy planning!
  6. We payed for our whole wedding party's attire as we felt they were spending enough just coming to our wedding. We also had room in the budget since it is saving us quite a bit to do a destination wedding vs a Canadian wedding.
  7. I can't believe I missed it! I'm in Edmonton too and only got to hear about it on the morning news. That would have been incredible/scary! The videos were so cool.
  8. I just started P90X earlier this week and my whole body aches! I can tell this is going to be a tough road! Glad to hear others had some decent results.
  9. Congrats to everyone on making it this far! We're so close, the rest of the planning should be a cake walk! Amy, your stag and doe looked like a lot of fun. I have to ask, did your Fi shave the other eyebrow to even things out or is he just living with it hehe! All in all he seems like a good sport about it all.
  10. Welcome to the forum and happy planning!
  11. Those pics are beautiful! I love picture with all the sparklers! Congrats and good luck in your new married life!
  12. As a favor to get my bridesmaid started on her photography career, she will be shooting my ttd session. She is a bit nervous as all her gear won't fit into a regular room safe. Where do you store your equipment when you go to shoot a destination wedding? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm a little sad that I won't get to wear my dress for long, but I think this is the best way to go, rather than half to do more pics the next day when its only the 2 of us and no reception there. I still have to check the proper areas for this, but, Im curious We are going to send out wedding anounncements (have to, no question according to Mom) and can't decide whether to get the announcement printed on a copy of a picture, or do paper ones and send a picture to important people. What do you think? Only 1 more I promise! It's probably too hot for a dark plum color shirt for FI isn't it? *blush* Sorry! I can't seem to keep posts short and sweet lately or not ask 100 questions! *blush* We are having our Maid of Honour and Best Man over for the weekend/legal ceremony. We wanted to keep it small and did not invite anyone else because its going to be very small as we didn't want people to feel like they missed out. I am using the dress that I previously posted on this thread for my legal day and then taking it with me to the Dominican Republic and using it as my ttd. I wanted to keep my real wedding dress so I bought the second. I will be doing my photos on a different day so that we can stay with the group (we'll have approx 30) and enjoy our reception. As for your wedding announcements, it all depends on your budget. If you can afford to send out announcements with a photo, I say go for it. Those receiving it will appreciate it. I think you're safe with the plum coloured shirt. It won't be any warmer that a summer day. If he can survive in that shirt at home during the summer, he can handle it on your wedding day. That's my opinion anyway.
  14. You are not alone! You'll find so many other brides experience the same problem. I have family members who say the same thing and I keep trying to explain that they will miss out on the fun time we'll all have together the week of the wedding and that they will need to pay to come on the resort, and they won't be able to stay the whole duration. Hang in there!
  15. This week, I've picked up the ties for the groomsmen. I've also ordered my bridesmaids' gifts. I plan on have a girl's sleep over in the honeymoon suite (Fi kicked out for the night of course) where we'll do a girly night of facials and such. To complete my girl's night, I found some personalized waffle-weave robes from smartypantsboutique.com I can't wait to get them! Oooooh and I bought my Legal Day / TTD dress! I bought it on sale off the rack as we have scheduled our Legal Day for October 25th (coming up real quick). In true BDW style, I know you ladies love pics so here it is! Still left to do: -Order my birdcage veil within the next week -Fi needs to get his suit tailored. -Get dress shirt for Fi -Find centerpieces/ table decorations (I'm thinking loose seashells and starfish scattered on the tables) -Create Welcome Letter -Order towels and get embroidered for wedding favors -Breathe...
  16. Oh there's no better feeling than your dress finally arriving! Can't wait to see it!
  17. Hi all! Long time since I've been on the forum. We just moved and were without the internet for 3 weeks (felt like forever). I can't believe how quick time is flying. The holidays will soon take over and shortly after we'll all beach on the beach! I'm so excited...my dress came is being shipped to my new place and should be here early next week! It wasn't supposed to be arriving until late November. It's all feeling so real now! We're hopefully ordering our rings this weekend. Not much left to do!

I agree with Rachel. Make sure to set some time aside for each other, even if it's just one night a week. Do little special things "just because". If he packs a lunch, leave him a little note that he won't see until later. Just little things to keep each other in mind between all the chaos. Just a good example of how you ca make it work, my parents have been married for 26 years. Both work shifts where they often don't get to see each other (one works nights the other is days) and what they do is make sure to do a little something special when they do find that time together. Even if it's just going out for Wednesday Wing night at the pub. Don't fret too much....you are soooo close to the big day!
  19. They are beautiful shots! Looks like something from a magazine! Can't wait to see the more!

Hey Kate, I made out with Ikea, Pier 1, and Homesense gift cards. It was mostly cash gifts because we live so far away that cash would be the easiest to travel with. It was such a good time. I hadn't posted my dresses on this thread but I do have them in the Bridesmaid dresses thread (it should open up to the right page, if not, it's page 53). The dresses are going to be in Espresso. They each have a different style but we used the same designer and fabric to make sure they were cut from the same roll of fabric. I can't wait till they come in!
  21. How about some sporting event or concert tickets? Blue Ray DVD player and booze (Texas mickey it!). You could make a nice wine and cheese basket. Hmm...all sorts of stuff!
  22. Keep your eyes on the prize! Who cares what they think, they already had their wedding or will do theirs whoever they please. And you are doing just that! Once you start getting people booked, you'll see, all the negative comments will just bounce off! I wish you strength and a shot of tequila!
