  1. It's ashame we have to get 'nasty' with companies just to get great customer service. I'm glad they are re-doing them! (free of charge I hope, lol)
  2. to the forum! Yaay, another August bride! Happy Planning
  3. Ooh, the hotel looks so nice! You guys are going to have a faboulous time!
  4. to the forum! I see you're located in Atlanta! Are you enjoying the weather we're having this week, lol. Do a search on destinationweddings.com, there are a couple of posts about them, I know there was one recently. Also check out the Jamaica section of this thread. There are a lot of posts about the Riu, including ceremony locations, receptions, pricing, rooms, etc. Congrats & Happy Planning
  5. Lol, I've seen the previews for the show. When does it come on? I want to check it out, it looks hilarious!
  6. to the forum! I would suggest, since you already have the hard part down (picking out the destinatin), go straight to the Jamaican section of the forum and decide on what resort you want. There are over 40 (I believe) Riu Ocho Rios brides and majority are getting married soon. So you can check out their reviews and their planning thus far. You can defitenly check out the DIY/Invitation forums as well to help get you decided on what type of invites/std's you may want. The search function will also be your best friend if you want something in particular. There is a wealth of information on this site, so just take one day at a time and go through the posts you seem interested in 1st. And if you have any ?s, everyone on here is more than willing to help! Congrats & Happy Planning

We will simply be signing the marriage certificate and she will notarize it and get it filed for us while we are gone. So, we are not having two ceremonies. We literally are only signing the papers before we go. Our DW will be considered our 'real' wedding date for us -- and our vows will be said for the first time, rand rings exchanged, during that ceremony. I was wondering about what date we would celebrate if we were to sign the paperwork here first. Great insight Tami!
  12. You should PM MoWife. She had her reception there and from her pics, it was an awesome view! You can also contact Evita through her website, she is very quick to respond.
  13. to the forum! There are plenty of great photographers on this forum as well as referrals! Take your time and check them out. Happy Planning
  14. I am still debating on whether or not to have a symbolic or civil cermony. At the hotel I'm looking at, the judge's fees are included in the package along with the ceremony, setup, hors d'ouvres, flowers, & reception/cake & massage, and a few extras (like a free certificate for a 4 day/3 nite stay on our 1st anniversary) for like $1,250. So in addition, I got a quote from WEDO for $240 as well for document translations. So all in all my ceremomy, reception, judge, and documents are about $1,490. Not too bad, imo. Like Tami mentioned, I'm a little weary about the time it takes to send the original documents. Our open enrollment is in January so I'm wondering if 6 months is enough time to get our documents, see that I dont think they will have it to us in 30 days for the 'life-changing' event!
  15. Great pics! Thanks for sharing. It looks like you guys had a fabolous time. Your dress is absolutely gorgeous and the shells for the sand ceremony made a nice touch. I think my favorite pic (even though they all look wonderful) would have to be him holding up your dress. Thats too cute!
  16. Catherine, I love it! Especially the buttons. I dont see any weight you need to lose. From the pics you look great! And no, you wanting to wear the dress all day doing various things doesnt make you any crazier than usual, lol (in a good way). Lol, has Amir been practicing his superman dance for the wedding?lol (I'm still cracking up over that)
