Not sure what happened, but I can't see most of the pics on the forum anymore. Sometimes I can see siggys but it seems like any new pics that people post in threads I can't see (besides ones that I post myself). I tried browsing this forum to see if anyone else has had this issue but didn't see anything. I know some of y'all have pics blocked from work, but I'm at home on my laptop. Any ideas?

I have had to take several prescriptions over to Mexico before and never had a problem. One time I even had to take a buttload of Chinese herbs that I was on. I did have the herb lady write me a note on her letter head describing what they were, but only because I thought they might seem more suspicious. However, it was never an issue - they never asked to see the letter. Better safe than sorry though! I'd get a note from the doc if possible just to be sure. I do have kind of a funny story related to this though. Down in Playa del Carmen we met a really nice couple at the bar and had some drinks with them. He is a medical doctor, and says he always travels "prepared" with a few various prescriptions. Since they do a lot of hiking and outdoorsy type stuff, he usually takes a prescription for Hydrocodone (Vicodin) with them in case they get hurt. Well, one year they went to India (I think that was the place) and there was a huge to do over narcotics there. There was even a special line where you have to go to state that you are bringing in Narcotics. Well, knowing that he had Hydrocodone on him, he went and stood in this line (apparently not doing so can get you in major trouble, if not death!). When he finally got through the line and showed them his "narcotics" the agents actually laughed at him! Apparently those are nothing compared to "real" narcotics they see there... We all had a good chuckle over this

I feel so isolated and depressed
JaimeLynne replied to SgtPepperette's topic in Just venting or funnies
Wow, you are dealing with a LOT right now huh!? I think you are dead on about realizing the communication issues. Actually, you sound a lot like my FI right now. He is in therapy dealing with that exact issue. He can think about it later and realize spot on what he should have done, but it seems to escape him in the moment. Myself, well I have been in therapy off and on since the age of 5 so I already know a lot of the stuff he is just learning. It is tough but I'm learning to be patient, so in a sense we're both learning together. I definitely think you and your FI could share some things about your deceased parents. Like your FI, my mother passed away when I was young - 17. I never really grieved properly at the time because the whole situation was pretty messed up (to sum it up she was a drug addict/alcoholic/extremely bipolar/possibly schizophrenic who died from cirrhosis of the liver). My mother was horribly abused as a child and that definitely affected mine and my sister's lives because she never was able to get the help that she needed. It's very sad what happened to her. Regardless, I had a lot of pressure placed on me and grew up in a very chaotic environment. So at the time of her death it was more of a peaceful moment for me, oddly enough. However, now that I am older I find myself missing her more and more. I cry a lot from time to time. My FI is very supportive. His grandfather (who he was very close to) died from a rare form of what they think was Mad Cow disease (he was a missionary overseas). When I get sad about my mom I try and relate to him by asking questions about his grandpa. Usually we both end up in tears, but it is very therapeutic. I'd say if you're both comfortable in going there then definitely explore that connection. All this is to say that we all have sh!t that we go through in our lives, but I truly believe it all balances out in the end. I am sending peaceful and healing thoughts your way... -
Happy $$$$$ thoughts to you!

Congrats on finding your dress!!! -

However, this dress just spoke to me so I figured "what the heck - one more (possibly) stressful thing out of the way!". I am still pretty shocked that I ordered it, but I'm happy The lady there said she's seen a dress taken down from a size 12 to a size 2. We ordered it in the size I am comfortable in now, even tho I do "plan" on losing weight before the wedding. One thing I don't plan on is gaining weight! -

I am so sorry to hear all of this. I had no idea that you were going through all of this on top of dealing with the hypothyroidism! I think we are a lot alike, because I have been dealing with a lot of the same issues lately. I have felt very alone and isolated. I finally confided in my friend and she was able to help me see that overall I was being too hard on myself and everyone else around me. Since then (well, when I have the energy!) I've tried to reach out to my friends more. It has really helped. I had no idea that I had so many people (including all the wonderful ppl on here!) pulling for me. I am so sorry about your (emotional) pain. You sound like a very strong person trying to deal with all this cr@p on your own, but we all need help sometimes. If you can, try to forgive those who have hurt you. Doesn't mean you have to forget, just forgive. In the end it will help you a lot. Easier said than done, I know because right now I am at odds with both of my sisters and I haven't really been able to truly forgive one of them yet. Would it be possible to see a therapist who you can talk to about everything? If you do, just make sure that y'all "click" so that you feel comfortable sharing these things with her. As for FI, I think he is probably just feeling overwhelmed right now which I know sucks for you. You have a lot going on and I'm sure he has no idea what to say or do to make it all go away. It does sound like you've got a good guy there tho, so that's a plus. Meanwhile, I would keep doing what you're doing (like getting out to walk). And of course, definitely feel free to talk to us! This board is full of so much warmth and people who truly want to listen and help... Hugs to you!!!! -
Our BFW Was AWESOME!!

You pro pics are awesome Abbie! I love the one of you getting into your dress - lol. And how cool are the sneakers! They remind me of my Aunt's wedding. She is originally from TX but moved to Boston, MA to live with her husband and the wedding was in Salem, MA - she had all of us bridesmaids wear black cowboy boots under our dresses. lol -
Wow, that is crazy!! Over the past 3 years or so I gained about 35 lbs. Last year I realized it was getting out of control so I stopped drinking my weekly margaritas, exercised when I could, and dropped almost 15 lbs (who would have thought margaritas could do THAT! lol) but have since put on 5 of those pounds even though I haven't been eating any worse than normal. It's been weird for me though because the chronic fatigue has come and gone. So there would be spurts where I'd be able to exercise and all that good stuff, and all of a sudden (like this last time, about a month or so ago) it will hit me with a VENGEANCE! Completely wiped me out hard core to the point I'm at now. When I go to the doc I'm not going to suggest anything, I'm going to see what he throws out there. I like to do that to get an unbiased opinion. Then if I think I need to add something in I will mention the Cytomel (I know from reading the reviews that he prescribes it). I must say though that even though I've gained some weight that is the least of my worries right now... I just want my old self back!!! I've gone from an "A" student to dropping out of classes and hoping that I scrape by with a "C" in the current class I'm in. I hate it ... none of my friends really understand what's going on with me and why I'm so tired/out of it when I do see them. They just tell me I need to "take better care of myself". Well, what the heck do you think I'm doing?!

Like I said, right now what I really want is a diagnosis and at this point I would be willing to try Armour if he thinks it would help.
-
Ok, you need to leave that doctor ASAP! You are not receiving the treatment that you deserve. I am shocked at all the things you've been saying about her. I found a doc who is a regular family MD out in Lewisville (about 30 mins from me) but he specializes in thyroid and will prescribe Armour. He has received excellent reviews and is supposed to be affordable (I don't have insurance). The only snag is that he doesn't treat adrenal disorders, which I think I have as well. I think I have abnormal cortisol levels which can be connected to hypothyroidism, and medicines would need to be adjusted accordingly. I may try him out anyways because I am ready for a freaking diagnosis at the very least!

For such a person, taking Synthroid, Levoxyl, or Unithroid will not likely result in improvement, as the body cannot convert synthetic T4 to T3 any better than it can convert its own natural T4 to T3. Unfortunately, in this situation, the blood tests that doctors routinely use to check thyroid status may be normal, which could cause a physician to miss the diagnosis. From what I've read Synthroid is definitely not for everyone. A lot of docs will only prescribe that, which is a problem for me. Check out this list: Thyroid Disease Top Doctors Directory -- Best Practitioners for Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism & More
