  1. Do you have the function to "check all as read" or "all as unread".. maybe doing that will help get rid of the glitch? Sorry I use Yahoo so not sure if that was helpful.
  2. Run... run away fast.. If this guy is causing you this much stress, please find someone else. If someone cannot return your call, they don't care about your business and they don't care about your wedding. Doesn't matter how good he is if he isn't reliable... find someone that puts you at ease.
  3. Site visits aren't necessary at all, as long as you're comfortable with just seeing photos and reading reviews. We were given two nights free at our location because we had booked our week's stay and had guests coming too. We just had to pay for air fare which we found a good deal on at the time. We were able to meet with our DJ, do a cake tasting, and meet with both coordinators. We also took time to meet with our photographer and have engagement photos (also had hair/makeup trial at the hotel) done so we crammed in a lot in a short amount of time. If your location is popular, reviews and pics from other girls are a great resource. Remember, many destination brides make ALL plans with the coordinators when they arrive a few days before their wedding..it's something they're used to dealing with. It's us crazy brides that want it all in writing and all T's crossed before we go! AND I was married last year and I still spend a majority of my day on this site so no, you aren't lame. Especially when you first start planning.. there's soooo much information here that's helpful.
  4. I LOVE Paso Robles! It's one of my favorite vacation spots and the red zins.. yummy! I can't wait to see all your wedding plans.
  5. I agree, have your girls call (not your dad). I hate non-RSVP'rs! Sad fact is, even if you call, they still won't wise up and RSVP for the next function. I even had a new bride not RSVP for our wedding! Helloooo she of all people should have known better!
  6. We handed ours out as we greeted guests in the lobby. Many of our friends/family were on the same flight.. the remaining bags we handed out at our welcome dinner... organizing the bags to be delivered to the rooms can be costly (some resorts charge) and more often than not a HUGE pain, due to room changes, and relying on staff that often runs on "mexico time" or wherever you may be vacationing. Dreams in Cabo let us keep the bags behind the front desk until their flight came in. (We just brought them down an hour or so before then.) We had a day to ourselves before the bulk of guests arrived and hubby and I just put the bags together assembly line style. It didn't take super long. Just keep yourself organized as you go.
  7. Congrats! I can't wait to see them.. If you have a Photobucket.com account (or snapfish, etc) you can upload the .jpg files (or whatever format they're in) into a slideshow.. then you can post a link to the slideshow into a post. Usually there is something like "email or share" button after uploading and grouping as a slideshow and then they should walk you through how to do it.. there's also a sticky for uploading photos to the forum. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t16832
  8. We were married Oct 28th and it was gorgeous.. 90's during the day and a nice cool breeze in the evenings.
  9. I was there in the beginning of August and it was humid and hot. I didn't mind at the time because we spent most of the time in the pool with a cocktail in our hands but I wouldn't want to wear a wedding dress.. (We were married in October and while the weather was hot, in the evening it was perfect.) I'd go with June too!
  10. Who doesn't have paypal available to them? You can link your account to a credit card (great for buyer's protection) or a checking account.
  11. I'm so sorry to hear about this! My 35 year old DH recently had a stint put into his main artery and he's the same as your man (no smoking, not overweight), except he isn't afraid of the doctor and went after having chest pains. At first I thought his blood pressure might be so high because of his phobia but obviously there's much more to it. I'm surprised he didn't have any other symptoms of the high BP like headaches/fainting. I'm sending good thoughts your way. It's amazing how your heart works around parts that aren't perfect. I'm glad they caught this when they did and I hope he has a speedy recovery. We're here for you to listen and don't always feel like you have to be super strong. You have a right to be just as scared as he is. I'm sure he appreciates your strength but feel free to vent/freak out here!
  12. I had the same thing done with my cat a few years ago (two extractions). It is expensive because they have to put them to sleep and all the blood work but I certainly don't remember paying that much.. probably closer to $300 to $400. I would get a 2nd opinion. You can probably just call another local vet to see what the going rate is over the phone.
  13. Bleaching may cause them to fall apart but you could try on one as a test run. I would paint them white if you really need them to be that color.
  14. Although I didn't use them for my invites, I did order samples from them and they were wonderful! The quality was top notch and if I remember correctly, they arrived shortly after ordering them. I def. recommend getting samples because on screen and in person are VERY different. If I was going to DIY my invites, I would have used them for sure.. way easier than making your own pocket folds and you can get all your papers pre-cut.

  16. Not exactly low carb, but great comfort food.. we had a baked potato with broccoli, cheese, and chicken on it last night. (Actually we made/split 2 potatoes and had it for the last two nights. The chicken was leftover from 3 nights ago (grilled) and the potato and broccoli were made in the microwave. Super easy and tasted great! edit: just realized you don't have any potatoes! lol
  17. Even though you might feel it's an additional burden on your guests/bridesmaids I bet they're looking forward to a wild night/girls bonding night too... Many of them may already be married and not able to do such things normally. My bridesmaids organized my party and keeping in mind they wanted to keep costs down, they had everyone pay for their own train ticket, wine tasting, and drinks afterwards. Then we went back to one of the girl's house and some people brought food.. I think the bridesmaids came up with a fairly reasonable per person fee that took everything into account. (Each girl had a shirt made too)..
  18. We had our wedding on a Sunday and it worked out perfect. We had some guests that couldn't afford longer than a weekend so they came in on Friday and left Monday (my family included). We had a welcome dinner on Friday and went into town afterwards to party in Cabo, relaxed on Saturday, and Sunday was the big day.. Sunday may be another option for you.
  19. Great site. Funny, I still love looking at model photos of my dress even long after my wedding.. too bad mine is crunched into a bag in my closet. I found mine on Ebay from a bridal salon selling a few samples. Once you know what you want (and what looks good on you) it's great to check out sites like this to find a deal!
  20. Thanks Morgan! You're right.. people should be giving and taking.. not just taking! (And saying hello to every newbie just to gain points in insincere and annoying) IMHO Being an active member of this forum is allot of fun and each bride has allot to contribute, especially when we see their final projects and here how the wedding went afterwards!
  21. We had the same wedding colors last October. I stressed for weeks on finding the perfect square vases but in the end chose to go with what my wedding coordinator had available. We brought down blue sea glass (heavy), fake orchids, white floating candles and white pillars. (we could have bought all from coordinator and just brought flowers or used fresh but saved a ton of money)
  22. I don't think they have made my hair grow faster.. I do shed less hair so it has been thicker (but I already have really full/thick hair).
  23. Great Job! You can tell he loves you so much by reading the proposal story! I'm very excited for the two of you!
