  1. Yay Abbie! Congrats on everything, I am so excited for you! You look so pretty but of course you know we want more pics!
  2. Awww Morgan this was so cute! Just as cute as the one Becks wrote for you. I love all the ferret talk!
  3. I've heard of it (I'm obsessed with hair..heheh). I know people that have gotten it done and it looks really nice. I would recommend all the Japanese techniques they do (thermal reconditioning for people who want straight hair and digital perm for people who want wavy hair). If you like it def get it done. But I would wait till after your wedding just in case something were to go wrong. If you use a good person you should have no problems but its better to err on the side of caution.
  4. Jamy just PM me the info and I'll look it up for you. It will take me 5 minutes. I have a database we use here at work. I should be able to find the person for you quickly.
  5. Congrats! Everything looked just great! I'm glad you had a wonderful time. Thanks for the review.
  6. Those are so cute! I have never seen those but those are def great! The fact that they can put them on their luggage on their trip to your wedding makes it even better. And you can't beat the $2 price tag!

  8. Can you post the links to the packages? Maybe we can figure out what it all means. Also if the video is important to you then I would go with the $850-45 minute one, since you plan to show it at your AHR. And then work from there. Just keep in mind that obviously your photo package will have to be smaller in order to stay within the $1500 range you are looking to spend.
  9. Baby Mia was born and she is happy and healthy. Susan sent Alyssa a text message and she let her know that little Mia had made her arrival. I'm sure once Susan is settled in she will post her announcement and some pics. Congrats Susan!

The woman who runs the site is an instructor. She has a doctorate, but not certain it in genealogy. If you want more info on the group just let me know. I would be very happy to help you with this project. I love, love, love genealogy! Now that Maggie is married I returned to my passion! Lizzy PS: Congratulations, married lady! Lizzy I remember reading that you were a genealogist but I couldn't remember if you were still a student or if you had gotten your certificate yet. I was hoping you would see this thread and jump in. I think stuff like this is so fascinating. I defenitly want to find out more. I would love more info on the group. Would you mind PMing it to me? Thank you so much Lizzy.
  11. Becks everything looks amazing! I love your stuff. These seriously are the best threads! I love them. Your guests are going to be blown away. And if you get fired you could always go into the wedding planning business.
  12. I wore a plain white strapless bra from VS but I regret it only b/c it made my dress so much harder to zip up. If you can look okay w/o a bra I would go the no bra route. I also wore these undies: Hanky Panky - Mrs. Low Rise Thong - Saks.com You can't really see it in the pic but it says "MRS" in blue. That was my something blue.
  13. Thank you guys for all that information! I have to get down to doing some research. I think it will just be hard b/c all my family presumably is from El Salvador and they had a terrible civil war which destroyed most of their records. So I'm pretty much SOL. LOL. But maybe I will do the ancestry DNA kit so it can tell me if I do have any other background in me. I'm going to order it and let you guys know how it goes! Thanks again for your help!
  14. I really like them! I know you probably think they look a little plain but b/c they will come wrapped in the ribbon it looks cleaner this way. Also I know the wording sounds weird but I have been invited to many weddings with the same wording. Believe it or not it sounds really pretty. I don't know what the font looks like on your names but why don't you just ask her to change it? It may look more elegant with the scripty font she used. It looks like she may have used CHOPIN SCRIPT or something like that.

I could see that being a fear. Also, just because you heard it through the grapevine that she's going, she might not be. You know how we all are- we think people are going, only to find out they aren't. She may have just not told the other couple it's a definite NO yet and gave them one of those "Sure I'll be there" answers we all get when they really don't have solid intentions of going. Long story short- talk to her. It's your good friend. I ditto everything Rachel said. And after reading your posts I think the husband probably didn't want to go to Jamaica and that is why they didn't go. I know that is hurtful but they probably want to go to Florida and didn't want to go to Jamaica. And even if she wanted to go to Jamaica for your wedding, as you stated before she was not "allowed" to go w/o him. I agree with you that attitude pisses me off.
  16. That is so fascinating Rachel. I'm sure Steve must enjoy learning all about his family. See the problem I have is that my parents were the first generation to emigrate to the U.S. So there would be no documents in the U.S. (military, Ellis Island, etc) that would show ancestry stuff. I guess these searches would have to be done in El Salvador or something. Now I really want that DNA testing. Where do I get that? I bet it costs a fortune. LOL.

Thank you so much for asking your uncle! Wow 10 years that is a long time. I better get started. LOL.

I can definintely ask her some pointers to get you started- like where to look, what to get, etc. Its like a big puzzle. I could even ask my mom to look some stuff up for you. She really enjoys it so I know she wouldn't mind. She does it for people all the time. I would probably need to know info to give to her. Just let me know. OMG are you kidding? I would seriously pass out from joy. If she could give me any pointers I would love it! Or even if she wanted to do it I would be more than willing to compensate her for her time. I don't need names of family members I just want to get a gist of where I came from KWIM?
  19. Thanks for the links Jamy! Are you saying that they can do genealogy testing through your DNA? I think I saw this done on a show or some documentary once but I couldn't remember the logistics of it. Do they just swipe your DNA and then test it against different ethnic backgrounds? Hmm I wonder if I could have my grandmother and myself submit to this.
  20. Uggh this really sucks! That would piss me off. I don't understand the logistics of it all. Is there some kind of penalty for cancelling with her? Is that why she is keeping the money? Which I don't get b/c she already charged you a cancellation fee. Hmmm seems strange. Hopefully the BBB will get back to you. Or you can always call the local TV stations and have her accosted. LOL. Then she'll have to answer!
  21. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to have my family history researched. I want to hire a company that will do this for me. I am willing to pay top dollar only b/c this is something that I have always wanted to know. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? I know there are tons of companies out there but I don't want to just google and throw my money all away. I figured I would ask b/c there might be someone on here who has done this and can recommend a good company. Just a little background info as to why I am so curious. Both sides of my family come from El Salvador. I'm told by different people on visits I have made there that my maternal grandmother's' grandfather (my great, great grandfather) was known as "The Turk". Apparently he looked turkish and that is why they called him this. However, by some accounts some village people believe he was turkish. Also my mother did a search on her family's name and it is not spanish at all it actually comes from an old Greek-Turkish area. So we've always thought that its possible that maybe we are Turkish. Also, people always ask my grandmother, my mother, and myself if we are middle eastern. I think its possible we originated from somewhere else b/c we have very distinct features. On the flip side, my father never knew his father. Its too long of a story to get into but basically my father has his mother's maiden name. One time I asked my dad what our name would have been had he taken his father's last name and he said "Moran". My dad never talks about his father but again some people in towns told me that my grandfather was known as "The Jew". Apparently he was an accountant and my great grandfather was a judge. Also during the Holocaust there was a group of jews known as Morano jews who fled Europe and settled into a lot of countries (including El Salvador) and they took last names that were derived from the word Morano. So to make a long story short I have always wondered if I come from jewish ancestry and middle eastern or european ancestry. So if anyone knows of any good companies or has done this before I would greatly appreciate any input and advice.

Rachel I use ofoto (from Kodak) but I've heard that snapfish is awesome and really easy to use. I don't know much about photobucket though.
  23. OMG I'm ashamed to admit this but I had no idea these threads existed and I'm a mod. I've never seen them. What the heck is wrong with me? LOL. Okay I have a lot of catching up to do!
  24. OMG that bracelet is amazing! That is one of the nicest gifts I have ever seen1 I absolutely love it! Jason you are the absolute best husband, Karen is so lucky to have you (and you to have her!) I am so glad you guys had a good time.
