  1. Ladies, I love all of your ideas. The grape wine corks are fabulous. I also love the fans. My dilema is trying to figure out favors that both men and women would love and also a favor that people that don't drink would like. There will be quite a few friends of my parents that have given up alchohol so they would not be able to use the wine stopper. But everyone could use the fan. I dunnoo, maybe I could do both. I can't wait to see more ideas.
  2. I have seen some wonderful posts about wine cork place cards as well as the candle wine topper. Does anyone have other ideas how to incorporate the wine theme into a AHR reception?
  3. For those who are having a small reception at your DW wedding and a AHR/party, will you be giving out the same favors at both? I have salt and pepper shaker favors for the DW reception, but I wouldn't have enough left over to give out during the AHR/bbq. I am expecting about 100 people for the AHR and don't want to be to cheap, but don't want to go broke either. Personalized chapstick is a great start, but I wanted to give out something a little more classy to my parent's friends etc. I would love to see your favors to get an idea? Thanks!!
  4. The majority of our friends and family will not be able to attend our wedding , so we decided to have a informal bbq/crabcrack when we get back. It should not be to expensive because we found a local park that is on the water that hosts weddings all the time. It should be about $200 plus the cost of food for about 80 people. None of my sisters were going to be able to attend the wedding because they just had babies, so we still wanted to have some sort of party.
  5. At first we were both against having anything when we got back and my FI still is not to hot on the idea of having a party when we get back. But I wanted to celebrate with the majority of the family and friends (about 100 guests) who will not be able to make it because of babies or fianances or just because they are bastards (sorry, I am a little bit hostile). We decided to have a crab crack/bbq. Never mind we don't have a location or a backyard and there are issues with having it at his parent's house (serious power struggle problems)and my Mom's house needs major work and all of our friends live in apartments....we will still have this darn thing.
  6. I borrowed the template from knottie 1fungirl to make my save the date brochure. I have since lost the template . But I am sure she is still on the knot boards.

This site has the personalized organza ribbon that I have been searching for.
  8. Is anyone going to use these boxes from Welcome to Ailana Kai I am going to use them to put my starfish and sea shell salt and pepper shakers in. I was trying to figure out how to decorate the box. I was thinking of using rafia to tie around the box and then attaching colored capiz shell . Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!!

Did you have the same problem contacting them? Does anyone have another vendor who they've worked with and had better results? My wedding is April 27th, so I'm running out of time. I can still buy real flowers if I need to, but those were so expensive when quoted by my wedding coordinator. Thanks Yes, they are pretty slow with the communication. It took a while for her to get back with me with a qoute.
  10. Does anyone know a website that has really good harp music? I am torn between getting a live Harpist for the ceremony or simiply downloading Prelude in C by Bach on my ipod and going from there.
  11. My FI is putting if off but I think he will be doing a money clip or a flask/cigar holder from www.exclusivelyweddings.com
  12. I chose Aria Bridesmaids because my original bridal party was all over the country and this company will send sample dresses for the girls to try on. Plus they have really cute dresses. Kori
  13. I ask the same questions and have felt the same way. I thankfully am finishing my degree in Social Work beause I apply alot of the things I learned to my in law situation. I have tried to just go by the motto that you can't change other people , but only how you react to them. In my case, my inlaws were not happy at all when my fi moved in with me, so the engagement news was the nail in the coffin. They basically had and still have issues letting go of him. My fi has lived at home until he started dating me 5 years ago so he was the one everyone in the family counted on. Maybe your inlaws are having a hard time letting go of your FI. It is kind of sad, but my fi and I are planning on moving from NY to MI in November, so we really won't have much to do with them. It cuts my Fi really deep that he has always been there for his family, but when he needs their support , they really turned on him when they couldn't have control. I do feel your pain, believe me!
  14. Thank you for this post. I was wondering how I was going to use my ipod for the wedding and reception. Does anyone want to share what songs they are doing for their play list? I am trying to assemble as much jazz song ideas a possible for the cocktail hour as well as when they are waiting for me to come down the aisle. I think I am going to upolad my processional song also instead of having a live harpist (saves about 200 dollars). I just have to find a good harp version of Prelude in C by Bach. I have a very rough draft list of songs that I am planning on using. Feel free to take a look. Kori Music For Wedding.doc
  15. I just ordered about 2 weeks ago. I am still waiting to see my bouquet, but her website looks great and many knotties rave about her. I made the mistake of odering from shavonsweddingsilks.com and the bouquet looks fake to me.
  16. I wanted to do a sheer cathedral veil like the one in the picture. I will also be doing a silk flower. Since the dress will have a champagne sash, I want to keep the veil simple and elegant. I wasn't going to do the blusher, but my FI said he wanted one and I figured what the heck.
  17. Sorry that I am late to the thread, but please don't let your inlaws get you down. I had the same lukewarm response from my FFIL and his wife (not my FI bio mom). It was very dissapointing to my FI and myself becuase they had just gotten back from a destination wedding and were raving about it. When we mentioned that we were engaged , my FFIL actualy put his hands on his head and looked down (real nice huh). It basically boiled down to them wanting to control the wedding . So we pretty much have been ignoring them which has pissed them off even more. Our wedding is 3 months away and they are still procastinating on getting their tickets and are telling other family members that Jamaica is dangerous . Mind you, we gave everyone 2 years to save up for the trip so that it wouldn't be a burden but people really blew it off once we changed the location from the Bahamas to Jamaica. All of this to say, people get really crazy around weddings and funureals and want to work their crap out on you. They had their wedding so you should have yours and do whatever you want. I think we are both in our late 20's , but I think in our parent's eyes , we minus well be 5. I truly believe, when they look back several years from now, they will be embarraseed by their behavior. I aplogize for the long post, but this topic REALLY hits close to home. Good luck with everything.

  19. I have bought these for friends and family for other occasions, but I just remembered them again when I was looking for a cute gift for those attending my bridal luncheon/shower. I only have a few people attending, so the price dosen't add up to much. But for those who only have a few attending their wedding also, this is such a cute gift. I got the Mommy to Be Pocket Spa for both my sisters when they were preganant this year and they loved it. I smelled the candle first hand it has a wonderful coconut smell. 21. I will be using a mini crystal crown broach as my bouquet jewelry. I saw it on ebay and thought it fit me perfectly
  22. Thank you Kashmira for your feedback. I feel much better that I have had feedback from you guys .I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being a micromanaging bridezilla. I want to keep things simple because my theme these days is "Everythings Irie".
  23. I was not going to have an AHR at first, but after reading all of these posts we decided to have one. It will be an informal crab crack/bbq where people can come and our families can meet each other because for the most part only our parents and a few friends will be attending the wedding. I still wanted to celebrate with my sisters and other people that live locally.
  24. My dress is the jcrew Vivian Dress. I am having a problem posting the picture.
  25. Thank you Tammy. I will definately talk to them. I have totally left the bacheorlrette party in their hands which I pushed back to July because all of the orginal bridal party will be in NY for my at home reception. So I figure it will give them more time to plan things since it seems that the wedding kind of crept up on them since it is only 3 months away. I know that it crept up on my matron of honor becuase she completely forgot to order her dress last month when she had said that she would which is not like her because she is very organized. But I am just happy that she will be able to come to Jamaica for the wedding and if I had it my way I would not even have dresses. But my fiance wants matching dresses and suits so I have to remember it is his wedding too and he has a say ,well sorta .
