  1. I am having a hard time getting the picture on the post of my cake from Sandals Dunns River. Feel free to email me at [email protected] and I can send the pictures to you.
  2. I am not sure of the exact measurements of the cake, but here is a picture of my cake.

But the wedding coordinators are really helpful.
  4. I just had them style it. I had a ponytail put in before I left for Jamaica, and the salon made the pony tail into pincurls. They probably could have definately washed it, but I wanted to keep the initial style that my stylist did at home.
  5. I got married at Sandals Dunns River last May and it took about 3 months to recieve the marriage certificate.
  6. Sorry to answer this so late, but yes, there is a gazebo that overlooks the beach. You can see the pics on my shutterfly album. Ignore the first few pics as they are pics in the US at my bonvoyage party. Feel free to pm me if I can be of any help. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...0BbuXLVm2YsXxQ
  7. I agree with everyone above, the rain comes and goes quickly. By the way, the flowers in your siggy look gorgeous. I got my flowers last year and I still look at them everyday and smile.
  8. I got married last May at Sandals Dunns River and used a steel drum band for the ceremony . They were really good. We had a quick reception (1/2) hour and used a CD. They only had a little boom box, but I only had about 15 people at the outside reception, so it worked out ok. Be warned, they did not have a ipod player last year, which would have really helped me , but they may have one now. But I would go either way with the dj or the reggae band because they both would probably be good.
  9. I got married at Sandals Dunns River which is right next door to RIU Ocho Rios in May 07. It was very hot and humid, so I opted for the up do because I would have sweat out my style by the end of the reception. I am not sure about the stylists at RIU but the Jamaican ladies at Sandals Dunns River did a great job with my hair. I had a pony tail put in before I left for Jamaica and they just did pincurls the day of the wedding. Very easy. After the wedding, the ladies on the beach can cornrow your hair if you would want to be free to swim etc without the worry of messing up the pony tail.
  10. I got married next door at Sandals Dunns River last year and it took about 3 months for them to mail it. It felt like forever.
  11. Thank you for you kind words. You will love SDR! Please feel free to email me if I can be of any help! Congratulations.
  12. I say go for the jacuzzi suite . We got the basic room and when it came time to spend time in the room for the honeymoon "having fun" , it would have been great to have a jacuzzi to add to the romance.
  13. What a wonderful offer. We planned on going back to celebrate our anniversary at Sandals Grande Oche in a year or two. I can't wait! Thanks!
  14. I had the same dilema and anxiety when I flew Air Jamaica to our wedding. I did not want to let the dress or my husbands's tux out of sight. The airline would not put our dress and tux in the closet (they had a bad attitude that day for some reason) so we put it in the overhead compartment directly above us. It was fine and the resort steamed our dress and tux before the wedding.
  15. I was married there on May 12th. It is a beautiful resort. You can see pics at : http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...0BbuXLVm2YsXxQ The first few pics are from our bonvoyage party back home. Let me know if I can be of any help!
  16. Welcome!! You will find a ton of wonderful information here. Have fun planning!
  17. We kind of had a no kids wedding. The Sandals resort where we got married did not let children under 3 onto the resort. Kids older than 3 had to get special permission and had to leave immediately after the reception and in addition we could not get married near the water because of the kids. My husband's uncle brought his 3 kids at the last minute one of whom was the flower girl. It initially pissed me off because I always envisioned having the wedding on the water, but I didn't want to break my little flower girls heart. But I really think it is your choice as to whether you want kids or not there since it is your big day.
  18. Your wedding was really beautiful. Congratulations!!
  19. I entered also. A free vacation would be nice.
  20. Ok.. here I go What I would do again: 1. Do a petal toss with silk petals. It looked really nice in our pictures. 2.Order a J.Crew dress for my wedding. It was a great quality dress and inexpensive. 3. Order alot of wedding supplies and jewlery from ebay and oriental trading. Affordable and easy. 4. Use Angelsaccent.com. The silk flowers came out beautiful and I have them for the rest of my life. 5. Use Aria and Coren Moore for my bridesmaids dresses. They came out great. 6. Air Jamaica was fun and provided good food. 7. Fans from oriental trading were very , very useful as it was hot as hell in Jamaica. 8. My guestbook from the guestbookstore.com was a nice touch and everyone filled out the pages. 9.I would definately get the steel drum band again. They added a really nice touch. What I would not do again 1. STD magnets-although everyone thought they were cute, everyone still pretty much forgot the info for the wedding. 2.Custom Unity candle with picture- My guest could not really see the candle and did not really care to much. We ended up not being able to light the candle because it was to windy. It ended up making the ceremony longer which was not good because it was so hot in the Jamaica sun. 3.Scheduled our arrival the same day as our guests because things got hectic and we were torn between spending time with our guests and finishing wedding planning. 4. I would not try to plan a wedding while in graduate school. It is to much work to do both and something ends up getting neglected for the wedding. I literally had my last class the day before I flew out to Jamaica. INSANE! What I wish I would have done 1.Hired a professional photographer instead of relying on Sandals photogs. 2. Brought candy for guestbags and personal consumption. It is hard to come by in Jamaica and customs did not check bags so it would have been easy to bring. 3.Brought an extra bag and payed extra for more reception supplies so that it could have been decorated like I would have liked. I didn't do that and ended up not having the reception look that I wanted. 3.Changed hotels after the wedding because the resort began to become a little boring.
  21. Congratulations and welcome! I got married next door to the RIU Ocho Rios at Sandals Dunns River. You will love RIU.
  22. Welcome! You will find tons of great information here. I live close by on Long Island. Have a wonderful time planning!!
  23. That is a good idea! It is beach that is part of a state park. I will definately check. Thanks!!
  24. We will be having a non traditional ahr outside at the beach. So I would probably would have to bring the equipment since I am not getting a DJ who normally would do some sort of slide show....I think. I am completly lost with all of this.
