  1. I agree with everyone above. Creating a registry is really fun. You can go crazy with that scanner gun at the stores and have a blast. There will more than likely be someone who is or is not attending your wedding that will want to buy you a gift, so go for it. I unexpectadly had a lady from the church I grew up in 12 years ago send a gift from Bed Bath and Beyond last week, so you never know.
  2. At first a ton of people said they were coming, but when we changed the location to Jamaica, we only had about 10 people respond which is fine. I want an intimate type of affair.

They wanted to save money for a house." I think he's just doing it because he has another friend who is getting married in Mexico this year and he's wondering how he can squeeze in both of them. Hell, last weekend he even had his other buddy call my FI to tell him about how for their wedding, they both got 1st class airline tickets, plus hotel stay for $1800 (total for both). Ummm, right- don't think so. Just 1 first class ticket costs more than that... Is it me, or when you give people almost 2 years time to plan and save for the wedding,it seems to make things worse. I made that mistake and it seems like people just ignore it when you say"HELLO, WE are getting married so do a payment plan to ease the financial burden" or we understand that you will not be able to make it and we will see you when we get back.
  4. I agree with everyone above. There is something about weddings, especially destination weddings, that bring out the nut jobs. Just stick to your plans and enjoy youself. They will eventually come around and deal with it or they won't and if that is the case , they have the problem and not you.

I kinda just threw the left over bottle of wine that I had in the fridge to get a visual, but Eurkea I think that will work...plus it is one of my favorite wines .hehhehe If my FMIL starts stressing me out during the party I will always have a reserve on the tables to turn too...

  9. I finally figured out a way to combine my love of wine /champagne and the beach in my centerpieces for my crabcrack/AHR. I bought the raffia bows from Micheals and I still have to get starfish and sand dollars from oriental trading to mix in with the corks. I harrased the local wineries to give me their used corks. The hurricane vases are from Pier One when they had the 12 dollar sale last year. I will be having my crabcrack at a park that overlooks the water on the Northshore of Long Island where there are alot of wineries. Ok, so the truth is, I just want another excuse to drink plenty o wine during the party.
  10. Congratulations! Your wedding looked so beautiful.
  11. Is there a list of must take pictures somewhere? Thank you!!

Or, what I did was use curly willow and individually tied each flower onto the orchid.. it was a pain but I tried it with fresh mini orchids PITA! Thank you!! Do you twist the stem to get the curly effect?
  14. Does anyone know what type of flower is in this picture? I love the idea but am not sure how to keep the flowers afloat in my hurricane vases.
  15. I did see the engravers at Micheals and I am afraid that I am not that talented. So I think I will just keep it simple and tie a customized tag like the one below to the label with some red curling ribbon, otherwise, I think I will end up on the psych ward if I tried to engrave the 100 plus mallets that I will have. But thank you so much for all of your help!

Thank you. Do you have any recomendations for where I could buy an engraver?
  19. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how I could customize the mallets that I will be giving away as a favor for my ahr/crabcrack? To get it engraved will be pretty expensive but I am worried that if i print out a clear lable to put on the handle that the label will smudge.
  20. Yes, this is definately an excuse for me to drink more wine!! LOL I love all of the ideas. The wine charm is especially appealing because everyone can use them. Thank you!!
