  1. Nicole and Juan, Thanks for both being on here, being honest, and for trying to make the best of everything for future brides!
  2. I just told people it was "REALLY SMALL". They didn't have to know I had 55 guests! For all they know, I had 10 guests! It seemed to do the trick...
  3. You might want to look up posts by KarlaV (I hope that is still her screen name). She got married there. Her photog was Juan Carlos Tapia so you can probably see her slideshow on his website (Karla and Ronnie). Her wedding was gorgeous!
  4. the zip line company is called Canopy Costa Azul, if that matters to you? I can't wait to see your map -- it sounds awesome!
  5. I didn't read everyone's but these come to mind: Definitely Playa Santa Maria and CHileano Bay for snorkeling (around Km. 13?) Cabo Surf Hotel/Playa Acapulquito (sp?) for surfing (Km. 29.5 or so) Mega Store (right at the southwest edge of San Jose, where the highway bends away from the ocean) Maybe downtown where you can swim with dolphins? There is the zip line tour at like Km. 30 or so.... The catholic church downtown San Jose is kind of a nice icon
  6. this is an awesome idea! I think a plain white or a plain black background would work well too. or even something like a deep, rich red.
  7. Heidi, I am so, so sorry. We are all here thinking about you, hoping for a recovery for you both physically and emotionally. HUGS.
  8. I have to second the Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets, Cheap Airfare & Discount Travel Deals - Kayak.com one. I freaking love that site!
  9. I voted for #2 --- choosing more flattering over more unique, if that makes sense
  10. Alyssa $10 Lizz $10 Starfishkate $10 Nrvsbride $10 Mikkistreak $10 Beachbride $10 JenandBrendan $10 Heidi $10 Carly $10 Christa $10 Lisaah $10 Galit $10 Wisco4 $10 ann (akh) $10 host (tammy) $10 or whatever you need Janet $10 (just PM me the details)
  11. Christa, I don't have much to add (you've gotten some great advice already), but I agree that your instincts and your analysis seems dead on. Trust your gut. What happens when Richard is 24 and has a job, but he's "tired and sore" -- you think his boss is gonna care? no. It's the parents job to reward good behavior, but not with allowing bad behavior! Sends totally the wrong message. And as for the car/bus thing -- if he really wanted to not take the bus, he would take the steps to learn how to drive, clear and simple. And lastly, sending you BIG HUGS if I could I'd send a big ass glass of wine.
  12. I have a template (really simple) but it's in Adobe InDesign, so if you don't have that program you won't be able to open it...
  13. I am lame and haven't dressed up for Halloween in years, but I updated my siggy with the best pic I could find...
  14. oh, I had this problem!! The groomsmen wore white shirts and khaki pants, so we found a light khaki dress for the groomswoman. It was a bit hard to find, but I think it was from LandsEnd or somewhere for pretty cheap. And she looked like she belonged on the guys side. She held flowers like my BMs though.
  15. gorgeous! I can just FEEL how in love you are after watching that!
  16. Honestly, you are going to have a GREAT wedding. And you can sleep at night knowing that you are being cheap. Whatever, I was cheap too! I think I spent less than $6/table on my centerpieces. At 7 tables, that was less than $50. You won't miss the wine. Maybe you can get a cake at costco. Cheap brides unite!!
  17. awesome!!! seriously, losing 30 lbs is hard and you should be so proud!
  18. We loved San Jose a lot more than Cabo, but you have to remember this is still Mexico we are talking about. It's definitely quaint and charming, but not super CLEAN or flawless (just a disclaimer -- we still loved it!). I can second the La Panga recommendation ($$$). On Thursdays all the galleries open up and offer free wine -- it's fun to walk around the town browsing at the art. Tropicana has good Mexican food too.
  19. You may want to talk to Kash about this... For me, part of paying for an open bar was the peace of mind. I did not want to spend my wedding night getting (silently) angry if I saw water bottles sitting around half-full that I knew we paid $4 for. I just did not want to feel like I needed to be careful about counting receipts or losing track of how high the tab was running or if it was accurate...etc etc. With open bar, I could order a margarita, leave it on the table, forget it, and get another and NOT CARE. (Not saying that was my goal, but I am a penny pincher type of person and I know I would have stressed about it)
  20. I don't think you need anything printed for the stamp. When you get them in the mail, just put a stamp in the upper right corner. It can be blank otherwise. Or am I missing something in your question?
  21. It was still under construction when I was last there. I hope it's nice though!
