  2. I am all for NOT posting pictures. I was just in yoga pants and a camisol - doesn't sound too terrible does it? Well it is. There is no way I am posting it for the world to see unless I magically look AMAZING in two weeks. But considering my total weight loss so far has been 6 pounds I doubt there will be any difference... so um just look at my signature! That's what I looked like at my wedding this past June and I'm close to that now...

Do you guys think that's true? If that's the case, to lose some serious weight I have to be super, super strict about diet. That sucks! I think that is totally untrue. Here's why: 1. Weight Watchers, the most successful diet around, is so successful because it allows people the ability to splurge a little each week. A donut is like 10 WW points (or something like that) and every person is given 35 extra flex points a week to eat these types of things (or other things or course). 2. Not that you should ever eat this way but if all you ate was one donut for breakfast, one donut for lunch and a donut for dinner you would probably still lose weight. That doesn't mean you'd be very healthy but the bottom line is if your daily calories don't go up (ie you eat the donut but then watch your total calories for the day and keep them the same) then weight loss wise there is no difference. That being said, donuts aren't very healthy for you. They have a lot of fat and sugar and it's hard to eat just half a donut. I feel like a box of krisp kremes would definitely set you back about a week but one won't kill you.
  4. I lost 2.6 this week - totally unexpected since Dan and I were out of town last weekend and of course eating out. I think it was a delayed reaction from all the exercise I did the week before... especially since I haven't worked out this week at all! Anyway, I can't believe how thin that Ali girl got on BL last night! CRAZY!
  5. Catherine - it's going to be fantastic!
  6. When we were considering different resorts (some AI and some non-AI) we always assumed we would pay for anyone who was not staying at the resort for the day of the wedding. We didn't end up going with AI though so have not actually gone through this.
  7. Great tip! I just went to my DVR so it'll start recording them! I want him to make me thin too!!!
  8. Amanda - That is fantastic! What a great reason for quitting! I am trying really hard to stay on track these days. I got one of those free 7 day passes to a gym near my work (the last day is tomorrow) so I've actually exercised a lot this week! Yippeee! BUT who knows if it's reflected in the scale. I'm trying to decide whether I want to sign up at this gym for the next few months. I don't really like it that much - it's sort of inconvenient cause it's in a mall. BUT the whole thing that is totally working for me is this whole work out during my lunch break. It's basically the best of both words - get work out in, spend less time at work and don't cut into personal time! hee hee hee... Anyway I think I'm going to see if I can find a different gym near my work that is better. This one is not great - though the one good thing is they have a ton of machines and this cool weird treadmill rtype thing I've never seen before that simulates hiking... it's called the Nautilus Treadclimber. Has anyone used this? It was actually more challenging than the elliptical machine (though not as fun). Supposedly it burnstwice the calories as a regular treadmill... probably true because at a low 3.0 - 3.4 mph my heart rate was way higher than on a treadmill or elliptical...
  9. I finally got insurance for my e-ring! I can't believe I've waited this long. Anyway I bought it from Jewelers Mutual - I like the idea of a company that specializes and has no deductible. Anyway, for those of you who haven't done this yet - just a friendly reminder!
  10. I like #1 - plus I think the added bonus is once it's up you don't have to worry about it! If it's hot out it won't stick to you, won't get frizzy if it's humid, etc.

I love the WW website! It is just so much easier to look up the food items and I think it's great for keeping track of flex points. Anyway, I've been experimenting with lightening up some delicious recipe and I'll post them in the "new receipes for old faves" thread.
  13. Did you book your location through a TA? If so you should definitely get them involved. Other than that I like Carly's idea of trying to negotiate with the hotel and possibly asking to speak to her boss or the GM to try and get it taken care of. Good luck!
  14. Welcome! What area's of Mexico are you thinking about? We have lots of brides from lost of places - Mexico and more!

  16. Dre - what about beach-side camping? A lot of those places fill up so you may have to try and make a reservation for before Memorial Day (that seems to kick off the camping season): I love this place: El Capitan State Beach - Campground Details - EL CAPITAN SB, Ca - ReserveAmerica (BTW: This is TOO far from Santa Ynez wineries either!) But I know that he loves me just the way I am - and it sounds like your FI loves you just the way you are! I agree - go ahead and marry that guy! he's a keeper!

  22. So I weighed in and I actually lost instead of gained! Freaky. I think I'm down 1.2 but I don't really remember what last week's number was. I am guessing it's cause I was bloated last week and also cause even though I ate a ton over the weekend I also hiked a lot... that my guess! But I feel happy!

I know this might sound silly but I totally gain right before my period because I'm all bloated. Another possibility - have you recently increased salt in your diet (ie started eating more frozen or canned meals? Or perhaps adding extra salt to not super tasty low-cal food? Just a thought... So basically the reality came out that night that not only am I FAT to myself but FI thinks I need to lose 20lbs before the wedding.... I can honestly say that, that does not sound like your FI thinks your fat. He's a man. You asked him a direct question "is it possible to lose 20 pounds in x amount of time" and he gave you a typical man answer "yes, it is possible but it will be hard." He is not saying "I think you need to lose 20 pounds" he is saying "YOU are saying you want to lose 20 pounds so I am just answering your question on whether it is possible because I am tired of having this same conversation over and over again" (OK, that last one might be me projecting my own conversations on you guys but I think this is pretty common) Quote: Originally Posted by chprfan okay I am finally starting to see some progress...down 1.2 this week. You have really been working hard and doing great - do not punish yourself! I am happy you are back to WW because it is a sensible and long-term way to eat. I also feel very frustrated but we will do this together, ok?
  24. Jen! I can't belive the time for you to head to the Hilton has finally arrived! I know that your wedding is going to be beautiful, classy and just amazing. You have worked so hard to pull it all together and I'm so happy you are finally going to get to enjoy it! Please post pics asap!

Maura - what about exercises for your upper body and/or core? - Bicep curls - Hammer curls - Tricep presses - Shoulder exercises - Side lifts: lift both arms out from side until parallel to ground. - Front lifts: lift one arm out in front of you until parallel to ground. Lower and raise other arm. - Shoulder press: Bend elbows holding weights near just above shoulders. Press up and slightly out (don't lock elbows) return to starting position. Maybe if you can do a series of upper body weight lifting exercises back to back (and switch your target muscles), you can get your heart rate up (and burn calories) and increase muscle mass (to burn more calories). Also "core" work: - regular crunches, side crunches, reverse crunches, etc. etc. - yoga walk (ie lie flat on your back, lift both legs in the air lower left leg toward ground (don't let it touch) move it back up and you lower right leg - continue as if you are walking in the air. - navasana "boat pose" in yoga - Yoga Journal - Full Boat Pose Good luck!
