Dreams Riviera Cancun 2015 Brides

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I leave tomorrow morning for DRC for my site visit. I am extremely excited, but really nervous too! I don't have my planner form filled out and I have no idea what questions to ask. :(

My wedding is so far away so I'm not very prepared to give her that much info. I did, however, make an appt. with the head wedding coordinator and also to have a food tasting.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

@@smileitseb who did you use for photographer/videographer? What made you choose them? Did you like them and did you interview any others? If so, how many and who?

Also, I remember you said you upgraded to buffet menu. How did they charge for that since your pkge came with 20 for silver menu?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for any info you can provide. :)

Any of you ladies using or used the resort's DJ service? Is it worth it?! Does this include an MC or do we have to provide our own MC? Still deciding on how to go about on our reception music... Thank you ladies! :)

Alright ladies, I'm at a cross roads with my recent site visit and I don't know what to do. As I mentioned I just came back from my site visit at Dreams. Unfortunately for the hotel, it was just bad timing and now I'm worried and confused. They were hit with the most torrential rains. It almost looked like a hurricane it was that bad. Now I know the hotel cannot control the weather, but I just don't know if I'm willing to shell out all this money to possibly have my wedding in the ballroom or some other area that is not the beach.

I completely understand that the end result is I'm marrying my best friend for life, but you have a destination wedding for the beauty of it.

My other issues are that it didn't give the hotel a fair chance to show what they could really offer as far as entertainment. The poor staff (which go above and beyond and are/were the nicest people) were working overtime with the deluge of rain that poured down -trying to keep the floors dry and safe for everyone.

Another thing they can't control is the ocean water and seaweed. From what I was told it just started happening a few years ago as a result of El Nino, but it's huge on our list of wants. The water was not clear and difficult to swim in.

So as of right now, my FI are doing a pros/cons list to see if we should move to another location.

I would love to hear from the ladies that had their weddings there this past weekend and get their insight on things; bad or good.

What I did like was the staff/service, the restaurant food, the rooms and the outside jacuzzi. My WC, Claudia, was very sweet, nice and seemed very knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and was very re-assuring that she wouldl work with me to help me put my dream wedding together while trying to maintain my budget.

I welcome all comments/opinions. I'm very stressed and trying to work through it, so any help would be appreciated.

@@desmiv At one point my fiancé and I were at the same boat. And I have determined the biggest factor to consider is that time of the year... Around June to September Cancun's chance of rain is pretty high and if Cancun beach wedding is what you prefer you might want to consider a change of date. Originally we wanted a June wedding but knowing the chance for rain and hurricane, I just didn't want to deal with the stress.. As far as the beach itself, when we visited February of this year you can definitely swim in it. The seaweeds gets a little too much but they do clean it twice a day and its just getting there at a good time will also help. Another thing too, there are water sports activities around that you can do and you can do boating, kayaking around the area. We felt that the place is also a little far from everything but we thought that people are actually there for our wedding and the thought of a secluded, tropical, hidden paradise theme feel was definitely there that's why we thought its a good idea to keep it in that place. We almost switch to Dreams Sands or somewhere around the hotel zone area but the place felt more touristy like. If anything our guests can travel to the hotel zone area and enjoy some of the stuff they have to offer which in reality we have it here. Hotel zone felt more like Miami to us or something like that..

I hope this helps... :)

Hello I'm not a Dreams bride but thought I'd chime in. My concern with you considering a change is that just a change of hotel won't clear up the rain and seaweed issues. Like the other poster mentioned could you possibly change the time of year? We had ours in January and I think it drizzled once overnight. Seaweed for us was fine but we were down near Akumel. I know it's since ramped up. I think anywhere in the Cancun /RM area has this problem :(

If the rain is your biggest fear my suggestion is to change your dates.

Good luck.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
