Hey girls!

What are you taking for decorations or are you renting center pieces etc from DRC? We are getting married on a Sunday since the pool terrace isn't avail on Saturdays and wondering how everyone else has their wedding weekend set up as far as welcome reception, rehearsal etc.

@@smileitseb - I think we are going to rent things because I don't want to fly a bunch of stuff there and back. My dress will be my carry on and I think the I'll have my fiance carry on some of our OOT items for the bags..

@@Shelleyq I've been trying to get lots of ideas from other brides...I don't want to do too much, just things I know people would actually use. I think maybe a face or lip sunscreen might be nice because most people just bring regular sunscreen and my sister was dying last time we were in Mexico because she forgot lip balm with SPF! Definitely an itinerary, welcome letter, something personalized, not sure if we'll do the bag, a hat, T shirt, but probably leaning toward the personalized bag or hat. The resort has games by the pool (board games, books) but playing cards might be nice since there isn't TOO much entertainment during the day. Probably a little medicine pack too.

What are you thinking?

@@pddcmc Not yet, when I emailed Claudia a few weeks ago about changing my cocktail hour time, she said someone would contact me approx 3 months beforehand.

Are you ladies doing a legal or symbolic ceremony? We had scheduled a legal ceremony, but after a lot of research, it seems it's better to do a symbolic one and get married at home. We wouldn't tell anyone, just me and the fiance would know :-) But we'd celebrate our anni on the day we get "married" at DRC. I don't think getting married in a courthouse would feel like a marriage anyways!

@@smileitseb We'll probably just rent stuff from DRC. I don't want to deal with shipping stuff down and I have heard customs can give brides-to-be a hard time when they see so many extras being brought into the country.

@@nattiegams325 - We are doing the exact same thing!-We will recognize our "wedding" in Mexico, and likewise, celebrate our anniversary that day. And, yes, ours will be a secret, too. Our TA told us that it is less of a hassle to get legally married before or after the ceremony in Mexico. She also said the symbolic and civil ceremony look exactly the same, and you sign a certificate with either one.

@@Shelleyq - I am doing something similar to @@nattiegams325. However, I did post on one of the other forums about wedding favors....are you guys doing them....or do the OOT bags count?? I just don't know...

@@pddcmc We will probably do both OOT bags and favors. With our guests coming from so far for us, I think it's worth it to do both for them. OOT bags will be more informal, favors I know I'm going to have maracas to shake at the first kiss and the guests can take them home and maybe we'll do something else too, like mini bottles of tequila or something. Haven't gotten that far yet. I'm trying to pick out my dress :D

@@nattiegams325 & @@pddcmc

We were planning to do legal but as you both have said it seems like so much hassel! I am going to talk to my fiancé about the "secret" at home legal business and then go symbolic there, especially since it looks the same.

So in terms of OOT gifts I am definitely thinking of doing a bag. I'm just afraid this is going to be stuff that goes straight to the trash, so I want to pick some stuff that can be used. I was considering doing luggage tags to help guests find their table and double as the favor. I figured the women would probably keep those. I like the idea of sunscreen and maybe could get a good deal at SAMs club/costco. Other things I have considered are bottle opener keychains and mini bottles of local alcohol. Pretty much I should just say our friends and family are a bunch of partiers!

There's a girl somewhere on this forum who rents out decorations and lives down there. I got an email from her but haven't taken the time to really read through it all and see if it's worth while.

@@nattiegams325 good luck with your dress! I got mine a few weeks ago. It's an Alvina valenta and I am absolutely in love! http://jlm-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/styles/av/br/altview/alvina-valenta-bridal-english-net-gown-lace-v-neckline-keyhole-back-skirt-godets-9407_x1.jpg

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
