Moon Palace 2012 Brides

Recommended Posts

I am planning on doing the sand ceremony. I am making my own picture frame holder and just going to use sand from the beach for one and coloured sand for the other. I am going to empty it out and have extra sand so we can make it at home again so it wont be a giant mess (bring back the extra sand in ziplock bags). But I didn't know there was a fee. Too bad Moon Palace, I don't need them to read anything for me, I just need space on the table (ridiculous for them to charge for something like that, I can get my MOH to read the ceremony literature which you can find online).

Did anyone do/is planning on doing a sand ceremony? We're trying to decide if we want to do one.  I've heard it is a pain flying back with it because the sand shifts? Do you know if the MP offers anything for the sand ceremony or do we have to bring everything with us? We are doing a symbolic ceremony. Thanks!

If I were you I would just check with your wedding coordinator about the cost. When I had Beatriz she told me the fee was for them to set it up, so I said I would just have one of my guests set it up for me before our ceremony started and she told me that was not allowed. So we just decided against it. Just an FYI... She also told me it was $250 to setup any decorations at the reception. I'm not having anything fancy just a centerpiece and I was like I'm not paying $250 for them to put a bowl of flowers on the table. I'm just going to ask my FI sister to take care if that for us. She said the only thing they didn't charge for was putting the place cards out. I also have a new wedding coordinator So maybe she will tell me something completely different!

Wow, it totally seems like they try to nickel and dime you for everything. My best friends want to be bridesmaids and they are singers, so i thought about just having them sing a song during the sand ceremony instead of reading anything. Figured it would be just as nice.

That is RIDICULOUS! WHAT set-up?! We're also going to have my FI's brother-in-law officiate, so there is literally NOTHING extra for them to do. And our ceremony is on the beach, so it's not like there is any extra clean up if we spill! thatswck.gif well, I'll definitely ask about it, but if I hear the same thing, I think I'm just going to ask the FI's bro-in-law to take it up with him? Thanks for the response ladies! CafeDelMar21, I am (was?) planning on a DIY sand frame, will you keep me posted on how yours turns out?

Also, when I was reading through the DIY threads on this someone wrote that they also used sand from the beach but forgot there are sometimes chunks of rocks and shells....so her sand got clogged going in.  Just a heads up, maybe strain it or something before the ceremony?

I just sent Joanis an email, so I will let you know what she says about it. I mean it's not like they have to do anything extra for it and I have seen tons of people's pictures with a sand ceremony so I can't imagine it costing or costing that much.

Also, on the $250 for decoration set up, I found a loophole. If you are having Zuniga decorate or bring flowers for you, they said they would do small decoration set up for you (since they already charge a set up fee for their items). I asked to have favours put, napkins, candle holders and fans, and they are doing my center pieces and they said they wouldn't charge me anything extra... I am not saying it would happen to everyone, but it would be good to talk to Zuniga and see if they could help you out.

It does feel like they try to nickle and dime you, but I mean, I am having a "free wedding" so I guess I can't blame them. I am just trying to find loopholes for all of this :P You may want to ask your coordinator if they can give you a second microphone since the ceremony only comes with one microphone and it seem you are having more than one person singing... But it would be so lovely if you have someone sing :D

Yes it was short and sweet! We went to a late lunch with the pastor and his wife afterwards. Went home changed, went to Lowe's to get light bulbs, ceiling fans & porch lights then went to my BIL & SILs for a crawfish boil. It was so awesome because no one was the wiser so periodically my sweet husband would come and whisper in my ear something about me being his wife finally and we would both laugh and all the people were looking at us like we were crazy. Haha! It was a very good day! Glad to have that taken care of so we can focus on packing and finishing the new house.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
