My trainer said AVOID frozen dinners and I think he's right. They used to be a frequent lunch for me (lean cuisines). But really, for like 300 calroies, you don't get a whole helluva lotta food and I was ALWAYS starving 2 hours after eating them. Plus, they're loaded with sugar, salt and preservatives and never enough protein so all they do is fill you up for a brief period and then give you an insulin crash soon after - no good. If time is an issue, cook a box (yes, an entire box/package) of boneless skinless chicken breasts on the weekend and keep them for your lunches throughout the week...make sure it's about 3-4 oz each. Then either throw it into a salad or pair it with some veggies (raw or cooked). This makes an easy lunch and way better for you. If you think you'll be hungry later, that's ok. Bring a healthy snack...such as a handful of almonds, lol. Don NOT worry about the fat/calories in roasted almonds...it is all healthy fat that the body knows what to do with! :)

I really think you might be working out too hard!  I know that is hard to read because it goes against everything we have learned of eat less and work out harder, but I think every person has a breaking point for their body.

Last year when I was trying to drop weight I was eating maybe 1300 calories a day (including a Lean Cuisine for dinner) and working out 6 days a week burning 600+ calories each trip to the gym.   I was barely losing anything.  From what I have read I was putting my body into starvation mode and it was holding on to everything it could.  This year I am doing 4 days a week burning maybe 400 calories at the gym (30 min cardio and 30 min weights) and eating a more balanced diet and the weight is coming off much easier.

I think you may need to experiment a bit (you still have time!) to see what your body needs.

My regimen so far has been to work out 2-3 times a week for 45 minutes and eating more veggies. I cut sugar and meat out for 21 days, and it worked really well. I wasn't tired all the time and I just felt better. Weight fell off. I'm eating everything again, but I eat less and maintain the same exercise (cardio and toning only). I'm not interested in losing weight so much as I am interested in toning and strengthening. I wanted to focus on the areas of my body that were highlighted by my dress: my arms, shoulders, and upper back. It really helps to exercise with a friend. My mom and I, and another church member have been encouraging each other and it's done wonders. We can see the benefits. I would encourage all brides to have a support network, b/c you're more likely to stay on top of it. All the best to us 2011 brides. We're gonna look awesome!

Stop worrying about it so much!  Keep moving!

I would recommand you watch your diet a little more.  Its 80% diet, trust me.  But I also agree with Richardssd, try and stay away from frozen foods.  Stop counting calories.  Eat whole lean foods.  Avacado, almonds, fruits, veggies, eggs, lean meat, ets.  Cook everything.  I usually bring my leftovers for lunch the next day.  Eat when you are hungry, do not starve yourself!

Thanks girls so much for the words of encouragement......

Today I just cried and cried.........

I went to the gym and RAN my butt off for 45 min on treadmill, worked off 400 calories, then did biceps, triceps and always abs......

Then came home and did Julians 30 day Shred.....

I did start measuring myself today in inches and next wed. we will see if i dropped anything.

I will eat between 1200 to 1500 calories, I am only 135 pounds, so i dont think i need more than that........atleast i dont think so.....but apparently what i know isnt working...geez!!

I do have an awesome support system my FI goes to gym with me and friends too.

Even today after he saw me crying said..." i have to admit i thought you would have lost more than 3 pounds in a month the way you have been exercising"............I have never joined a gym and never exercised like this is my life......so i thought for sure my body would react........????????????????????

I wonder how many calories my body needs on a daily basis just to function??  Only way i can truly find this out is to buy one of those super expensive Body Buggs and you have to subsribe to an online service with a monthly few to see what your body is doing..

I have done that research online too and too many contradicting information out there...everyone says not to eat less than 1200 calories and i dont, but soooo many woman on here starve themselves and that works for them.....

Urrghh, I am so lost and angry!!!

Thanks for listening all :). xoxoxoxoxoxxoxoo

I hope to have a better outlook soon, wish I could afford a nutritionist or the Body BuGG to help me :(

Its terrible to work so hard at something and have such dedication to get nothing in return.......................

I think the key to your statement is that a lot of ladies on here have a lot more to lose than you do.  My thought is when you have less to lose then your body knows it needs to hold onto it.  When I said I was doing better with exercising less and eating a bit more - it is because I am in the same situation.  My weight loss goal (at the beginning of the year) was only 7 pounds.

If you don't have much to lose and you are so upset that you are in tears, then at the very least you should take a break.  Maybe cutting back will be the key to boosting weight loss, or maybe not - but if not, then at least you have reloaded emotionally for another run at your goal.

I have had the same problem. I've worked my butt off and haven't lost much weight. I've worked out 6 days a week for the last 3 weeks and gained 5 lbs. My future BIL who is a personal trainer said that I may have been consuming too much carbs. He may have been right. so, I decided to start with the south beach diet, i'm on day 3 and I feel fine. Hopefully this will make a difference because somethings got to give!! I alternate my daily workouts from Insanity to Jillian michael's 30 shred/Jackie warner. I take sundays as my rest day.

One thing my future BIL mentioned that made sense was how many calories I should consume for my weight loss. He said... Take desired weight, multiply by 10-12 for calories per day. Example: 160 X 10= 1600 (per day). Your carb consumption should be between 50-75 grams of carbs per day. 75 grams of carb is the maximum.

I feel your pain, I have been trying so hard to lose weight for months, I've been exercising 10+ hours a week and watching what I eat (1200-1500 cals), I even tried eating a little more but my weight won't budge. And I've had my bad weeks where I've given up and not done a thing basically putting myself back at square one.

This may not be the case for you but what I've come to realize is that stress is my major issue. I am under a lot of stress at work for the past few months also and when you're under stress the body also can go into "starvation" mode and store everything no matter what you do. Then there's the kicker that you're not losing weight, the wedding is quickly coming up and then you stress about that... So I'm in a battle with myself to de-stress. Bikram Yoga has helped a lot, I just need to go more regularly and give up some of my other workouts.

If you're working out that hard, your body is receiving the benefits. If you can't see them right now, don't get discouraged and don't give up! Once it starts to come off it will probably go very fast for you because of all of the work you're putting in now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
