invitation cost

I was always one of those people who said that I'd spend more on photography, and could absolutely NOT justify spending a lot of money on stationery. Then of course I fell in love with a custom invitation designer at a bridal show, and the rest is history. We are spending $3.25 per luggage tag save the date and envelope (we're sending out 50), and $6.95 per boarding pass invite (2 sided), with jacket, envelopes, and post card RSVP. I don't even think it'll end up being as much as I'd thought, because we put some wording on our STDs asking people to let us know if they absolutely CANNOT attend. If they tell us that, we don't need to send them an invitation.

 

I really feel good about the progress and the results so far, so I don't even regret spending the money on it. I think it's pretty important, since it's the first sign your guests have regarding the theme and feel of the wedding. :0)

I have fallen in love with the pocket invitations, but not the price!

We would like to stay around 4$ per set...is this possible? any suggestion on where to order these

Also what about the address on front? Are you printing or hiring someone...I have very very messy handwriting, but cant see paying another 2-5 per set??

I almost bought pocket invitations that were going to cost me about $450 and then I found beautiful invitations at Target! So I printed them out myself and put them together, it only cost me about $30 for 50 invites! The only thing I didn't like about these invitations were the envelopes. They felt a bit thin, but I figured they are going to be thrown out anyway so why pay more money if it's just going to go in the trash.

Try Etsy. There are a lot of sellers on the site that are willing to make an invitation that you will be happy with that will fit your budget. I used doingfavors through etsy. Her name is Viola and did a GREAT job and went above and beyond for me!

I think you can buy pocket fold kits as well, if you want to try to DIY. Check around the forums to see examples also, because I think there are people who just had the invite part done for them and then added the pocket fold part, but I can't remember who off the top of my head. Or you could do the whole thing!
The company I used (Stephita) had pocket folds starting at 4.79, that included everything even return address printing, so shop around a bit too before you give up on them! Having them address all of my envelopes was .70 per, I think, so for 45 invites it was only about $30 and it saved me a lot of time and effort.

We made our invitations from scratch. There were 150 of them and it ended up costing us about $400. Not bad at all considering how much invitations were going for on any site!! They're pocketfold with invite on the left side and 3 insert cards and response envelope on the right. If you're at all crafty, I'd say make them yourself! Good luck!

I too fell in love with the pocketfold design but they are SO expensive. After their great reviews from other brides I ordered a kit from Cards & Pockets 70 invites cost me $130, including shipping. We still have to do the actual printing ourselves (and assembly) but it's worth it to me. I got the paper yesterday in the mail and its FABULOUS! It would also be cheaper if you didn't order every component in a metallic paper like I did. Haha. It's definitely doable if you're willing to put a little bit of time in it. If you don't think you can design the actual invite well enough - check out Etsy :: Your place to buy and sell all things handmade a lot of talented people there will make your design for you and send you the digital file for around $20. Nobody would ever know it was "homemade". Good luck!

I am making 25 pocket invitations, with 3-4 inserts, mats behind almost everything (meaning more paper) and a bellyband around the outside. I spent $85 for two different types of adhesives to try, all the paper and envelopes. Now I just need the ink!

I used cardsandpockets.com. They have options to have them do the printing and stuff and for pocketfolds they are definatly the cheapest I have seen. Also, they have DIY kits which are cheaper then how I did it. I fell in love with an example on their blog. The customer service is also spectacular.
