Is Your Wedding Trip Also Your Honeymoon?

We are getting married in Negril and after the wedding we are leaving for Ocho Rios for a honeymoon. We think we are going to stay at The Blue House in OR. They have a program where you can do some local volunteer work with the people in the community. (It is important to us to be able to give something back to the actual natives of the island.) We will stay a day or two after the wedding to hang out with our guests then we are off to have some "alone" time. Maybe start working on having a family....:)

Will you stay longer at same hotel?
Go to diff hotel on same island?
Fly to new location all together?
Take a cruise? etc etc....

I'd love to hear your plans.

FI and I have not yet decided.
Hi Danyelle,

So after 6 days in Mexico with 30 of our closest friends and fam, we are coming home for 2 days, then we are off to our dream trip of Australia and New Zealand. We travel often as this is our passion. We are so excited. Yes, we will have lots of debt, but totally worth it! You can't take it with you. Good luck to you! smile72.gif

On our wedding night, we're moving to a private cottage that is about 5 minutes away from the 2 private villas our families are staying at. We'll be there for three nights and then we're leaving St. Lucia to fly to Excellence Punta Cana for 10 nights. I'm so ready for it!

We stayed two weeks at the same resort - first week with 50 people, 2nd week with 10 stragglers. Originally we were going to switch resort, but finances dictated otherwise. So out honeymoon wasn't terribly romantic, although we had our moments. Mostly days spent with the fam, evenings spent alone for dinner, watching live music etc.

We are planning a 'real' honeymoon for our anniversary next January.

For our trip, we were planning on moving to a different resort for our honeymoon, but flights through points didn't really allow us for much flexibility.. so we are leaving the same day that all our guests are heading home.. then the last week in Nov we are gonna book our honeymoon somewhere different just for ease of using travel points...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
