Is Your Wedding Trip Also Your Honeymoon?

Just curious if your destination wedding trip is also serving as your honeymoon.

Will you stay longer at same hotel?

Go to diff hotel on same island?

Fly to new location all together?

Take a cruise? etc etc....

I'd love to hear your plans.

FI and I have not yet decided.

Yeah the ease is a definite plus! We were thinking of maybe just moving to a luxe hotel after the wedding in a different area of Jamaica, but were also thinking of doing another cruise. I think we've officially ruled out taking our 'dream honeymoon' directly after the wedding.

Yes, my wedding & honeymoon are at the same place. We decided that because we didn't want to spend our time traveling to another location, unpacking etc. we just wanted to spend our time with our visiting family & friends, plus the guys are golfing at the Jack Nicklaus golf course!!!

FI and I are staying at the same hotel of our wedding, but it will just be us two, no guests so we are able to do that. If we were going to have guests, we would move to another resort. As much we love our fam and friends, we don't want to spend our honeymoon with them. Some couple opt to make it a long vacation visiting with their guests. In the end, it's up to what you and your FI want. Best of luck!

Danyelle,

We went to Hawaii for 2 weeks - we spent the 1st week on Big Island with our family and friends and had our wedding - the next day we flew to Kauai (alone!) for a week for our Honeymoon.

I HIGHLY recommend having a completely seperate honeymoon - changing Islands / resorts / areas /etc.

It is such a special time right after you are married and you should be alone together to enjoy it!

P.S. I moved this thread to the "Honeymoon Talk" area of the forum

We are going to stay at our wedding resort for a week and we are inviting our guests to do the same. We are going to spend a couple of the days with the guests and suggest that they use the rest of the time for themselves and we will use that time to be alone. Hopefully a couple years down the road we can take our dream trip to Italy, but for right now we cannot afford a real honeymoon.

We will be "honeymooning" at the same resort that we will be married at. We decided to do this for a couple of reasons...1) We figured that we would be super busy the first three days planning the final touches of the wedding (not much of a vacation) and 2) Our family and friends will be with us for the first week and we'll probably not have a minute to ourselves.

With that being said, staying at the same resort for another week didn't cost much more than staying for one did so we splurged on that. However, we are going to Greece the following February for our actual honeymoon.

We stayed at the Iberostar for two weeks and called it wedding/honeymoon (so weddingmoon I guess) but the second week really sucked for me as I caught a really bad cold...like one of the worst colds I've ever had. I'm still bummed about it. sad.gif Hopefully we can go somewhere Feb 19/2010 for our first anniversary just the two of us...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
