OMG . . . I just had a positive home pregnancy test!

Thank you all very much! I am going to take another test this morning and if positive, will tell fiancee tonight. Hopefully, I can get in to see a doctor soon for confirmation.

I am still in shock that this happened! I have been on the pill for so long, and take it each night with my other medication. I do know that this will be a blessing; it just changes the picture quite a bit.

I am a person who likes to be prepared for things, so the thought of this happening now has me a bit freaked out. Once I get my mind around it, I am sure everything will be fine. Although, I don't look forward to informing my fiancee's side of the famiy who is VERY Catholic and is upset that we are even living together now. But that is a story for a different time.

I know that I will definitely be able to use support from the ladies on here who have been through this. Thank you all for your information and support!

awww hun congrats! Its so amazing, even if it isn't the time that you planned it. And don't worry about the sushi/coffee bit, most women don't know that they're pregnant until later, so it happens. A doctor will be able to put most of your fears at ease.

As a nurse, I have to ask, how later are you for your monthly? if not then you really have to wait to confirm a true pregnancy. you see you could have conceived but the egg/sperm may not have implanted. the hormones start when conception happens not when implantation happens so if you are not yet late you may not yet be truly pregnant. so I go to you doctors appointment and get a blood test, make sure it is the one that gives you a number so you can tell how far along you are. At least it will tell you how fare for the first couple of weeks after that the numbers are too far off for that.

Good luck

Laura

Congratulations if you are pregnant!!! That is super exciting...

Like the others said, I would absolutely take another test; then go to the dr. I personally wouldn't be able to wait to tell FI if it were me; but I have no patience LOL.

I wouldn't worry about the things you have been ingesting; you should be fine. So many women do the same not knowing they are pregnant.

And.. you families will be happy when it's all said and done. A new baby is always welcome!!!!

I'll just co-sign with the other girls here. Most women don't have a clue they are preggers til they are almost in their second month (6-8 weeks)...in the meantime, they have continued their normal lives and routines. PLEASE don't feel like you've done something to damage the pregnancy. YOU ARE FINE, believe me.

As far as the wedding, I see no reason to change a thing...well, maybe your dress? I don't know. You seem confident that your FH will embrace it. Your father is your father and you love him, but you're not a child and I'm sure you can look back now and see that he got over your sister's unexpected pregnancy just fine. Do not stress over anyone's reaction but YOURS. You're mommy..you're the ball carrier (no pun intended)...seems to me that you have every intention of keeping it, so CONGRATULATIONS! (and get thee to the doc's office!)

Did you take the other test yet? I've heard that you are supposed to take the tests during your first urine of the day. I guess there's something different in there that makes it more accurate. Like the other ladies have said the only thing you'll need to change is your dress alterations. Otherwise people already know your getting married and your baby just decided she/he wanted to be a part of all the wedding fun:) Good Luck!

Thank you everyone for your support!

I did do another test this morning and it was positive. I have to call for a doctor appointment. My last period was mid-December, so I am pretty sure this is the real thing.

I just got back from a 6 am to midnight trip to NYC with my college students. Nothing like a tour of Ground Zero to make you a basket case when your hormones are already out of whack! My God . . . I could not stop crying during the tour. Granted, I am sure I would have been emotional, but today as people talked of their families, it REALLY hit home.

I am preparing to tell fiance tonight . . . I had a four hour bus ride up and back from NYC to think of how exactly to do this. Not sure yet, but I am sure the words will come.

I will keep you posted!
