Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

I totally agree.... it seems ridiculous and makes no sense. I understand that the $18 has to do with set up fees, extra cake, etc, but I think that's a lot to rent out the restaurant. And I'm sure the majority of brides don't use half the stuff included in the wedding package price, yet there aren't any discounts for what's not used. I think they know we'll all just pay what we have to in order to make our day perfect! Shame on them. shameonyou.gif

I just dont get why we have to pay $18 per person + the $800 to rent it out - it just seems like double dipping to me.

Hi Cam,

Thanks so much for the information. I have decided to go with Calabesh and since I also have 35 people, I will sit them all in a U shape as you did :) If you didn't have the option of playing your own music, how did you do your first dance and dance with father? What did you guys do after Calabesh?

Thanks again for the information,

I thought Calabash was perfect. The decor is very elegant and perfect for a wedding reception. Out of all the restaurants I though it looked the best. The food is wonderful, 5 course small portions but perfectly presented. We had  lamb, snapper and steak, if your guests do not eat fish I am sure there is another option but we were mainly vegetarian who eat fish so was not a problem. I asked everyone their menu choices 6 weeks before and let Nicole know. We did not have the option to play our own music as we did not hire out the restaurant, however they played their own music which was fine and everyone was just chatting anyway. Speeches were fine no problem at all music was only background music so everyone could hear and there was no need to shout. We had 35 guest in a U shape table at one side of the restaurant and did not feel like there was anyone else there. (there was a couple and a table of 4)

Unless you have 100+ guests I would definitely choose Calabash, however Aunt Ruby's does have a beach feel. I personally don't like to be sitting outside at night for long periods of time due to mosquito's but I didn't notice any this year. Not on bite! You also have the opportunity to do a lot more decoration ideas with Aunt Ruby's and I think it needs it as it is quite everyday looking for a wedding. But once its decorated up looks fab. For me I just did very simple table layout and wanted it quite classic I also didn't want to bring loads with me.

So they are letting you pay the extra to have a private reception even though you only have 30? I am really hoping they'll allow us to do that as well.  We really, really want a private reception, I'll be pretty upset if we can't have it.

Hi Cam,

I also forgot to ask, what did you bring to decorate Calabesh? Did you bring paper lanterns or anything like that? Did you have a welcome/card table?

They are allowing us to have it at aunt rubys cause we are paying to make it $50 people. Therefore, minus the 8 thats include in the pkg we are paying $18 x 42 people which is practically $800. Thats why I dont get why we have to pay $800 on top of that to rent it out.

Thats why are ARNT and we are going to have dancing afterwards elsewhere.

You can only decorate  your tables :( i am not able to have a "private reception" due to my numbers..... and they won't allow us to have a private area on the patio outside the restaurant :(  i thought at least they would allow that!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
