Hey lady!  I got married on Monday and I just got back a little after midnight.  I am going to put my review together as soon as we get through with Thanksgiving, but I wanted to answer you question.  Yes, the napkins are cloth napkins and they are nice.  The hotel is great so please relax and try not to stress.  I used placecards and the worked very well.  I drew a diagram of the table with the names and Nicole used it to place the card appropriately.  My photographers are staying until Saturday to celebrate their anniversary, but I will post pictures as soon as they get back.

And if anyone has used the DJ that they provide, how good is he? I want us and our guests to have such a great time on our wedding day, so music has to be on point!

Islandgirl,

I just got back, but I had to answer this for you.  At the end of my planning I got really nervous because I found out the the DJ had awful reviews and almost went with an outside DJ.  Well I will tell you that it must have been a different DJ because I followed my gut and went with the resort DJ and he was great!!  We had him to play for us after the dinner in the Music/jazz room from 8:30 -10:30 and he also MC'd.   He did a great job!  His name was DJ Juvenile.

Congrats Nikki! Can't wait to see your review

Princess - Nope, no welcome party for me. But as Imuze said, I saw on the wedding details document that you can arrange for reservations for whatever restaurants you want. Or, just give them a heads up to meet somewhere. I've attached a resort map for your use. It has the names of all the amenities on it.

How far in advance do you usually have to book your wedding day at IRHS?  We're not quite engaged yet, but planning to get married there in Nov 2011.  I've told him that there's no way I'm booking the wedding before I have a ring on my finger, but I see many of you booking so far in advance, so I'm a little worried.  Will I be ok booking about 10 months in advance?

Starrysim - I just booked and had my date confirmed for 11-6-11 this past Wednesday.  I wanted a wedding date sometime in the first two weeks of November and there were already quite a few dates taken.  There were still some week days open, but it seems like it books fast!  I wanted a Fri-Sat-Sun wedding so that people could travel for a long weekend.  An email from Sat 11/20 from IRHS had open dates of 11/2 - 11/3, 11/7 - 11/10.  There may be more open later in the month, but I was only asking about the first two weeks.  I would guess that if you are flexible on dates there should be something open in November in the coming months.  Good luck!!!

Thanks, that's really useful.  We actually want a mid-week (Tues/Wed/Thurs) wedding because most people would be going for a week, probably Sat-Sat or Sun-Sun, so it doesn't make sense to do it on the weekend.  Our 10-year anniversary is on 11/11/11, but that's a Friday and I see it's already taken by someone else on the board :)  So we're thinking to do it earlier that week, just to keep the date close.  But we're not totally set on having it during that week, so as long as we get a mid-week date during late October or in November, it's all good.  Thanks again for the info, and congrats on booking your date!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
