I have to agree with you Cassie. A DW is usually the stress-free way of getting married, but for some brides it's actually just because they love the location, or in my case, it means less annoying family members lol And like you, I'm a plan-a-holic, and I have to have every detail just right, but I LOVE doing it! Sure, it's a little stressful at times, but for the most part it's really fun :) But if I was doing a DW because I wanted no stress, then I'd nix all the extras and just go and have a blast!

Yay no one can call me crazy anymore! I'm getting married Jan 2011 and everyone I've told has always been like thats sooo long. In my head I'm like thanks I know. lol. Wow I'm impressed most of you already know where you want to go and everything. We just visited our TA and they said no prices will be out until March or April so right now we're just browsing places and have found a few we like but don't want to get stuck on one place incase it's too expensive when the time comes to book!

So many people are asking us why we are not getting married in spring 2010 instead of spring 2011. A few of them have said that if it was 2010 they could come for sure, but 2011 is much harder (for some it's school, planning on having a baby, etc.). So hard sometimes to remember why we chose 2011 in the first place and not just let them all change my mind.

But then I remember our reasoning, and the fact that this wedding is first and foremost for us two and not anybody else. If they can come, great, but if not it's not the end of the world. (Plus, a ouple of FI's closest friends are expecting a baby spring 2010, so no matter when we go it won't fit into somebody's plan)

Hi! Glad I found this thread... it gets lonely not having other 2011 brides to "talk" with. We chose April of 2011 in order to give everyone enough time to save. I think I calculated that if everyone could set aside $60.00 a month, their trip could be payed for! We'll be getting married at Tensing Pen in Negril, Jamaica. We've already talked to the WC and she suggested that we really try to get our deposit in by March as they're already pretty much booked for the whole year of 2010, which is another reason for our date being in 2011. Oh yeah- and I'm joining the "ring-less engaged" group as well, lol wink.gif

Yeah I agree with you Cassie, I am having a DW because I want the location and less people to invite! I love planning things though, and I think it's a lot of fun!

The reason we chose 2011 is for a few reasons, one financial it gives us plenty of time to save up for everything since we are paying for it ourselves, 2 because I'm getting my master's and my program doesn't really allow for breaks so by the time our wedding rolls around I will have graduated and gotten my license to practice, 3 my best friend is having a DW in Thailand, so there goes FI's 2 week vacation in 2010.

My dad is the one wishing it were April 2010 instead of April 2011 just because he got excited thinking the wrong year from the beginning. There are those unsupportive people, but I have much more entirely supportive ones to make up for it. My uncle said his class reunion (30 year) is going on a cruise but if it were close to my wedding, he would miss out on that for me. If it weren't for my future in-laws, it would be late October 2010 (right after hurricane season)... but his mother teaches and all of his siblings are in elem, high, college, or grad school. I know they say they probably will not make it, but April 21, 2011 is good for us because it's during Louisiana spring break and I want his family to have the opportunity to make it. No excuses!

We are getting married in January 2011, sounds forever away but it's only a year and one month!! We are doing 2011, because my FI sister is getting married in July 2010. Originally I wanted to get married in September 2010 but she got engaged first and I didn't want to make the weddings to close together for his parents and family.

We are pretty set on the location and will be sending the deposit to hold our date this month as well as the STD's/invites!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
