Something you wish you would have packed?

Recommended Posts

Definitely pack Imodium AD. I never have stomach issues when I go away, but this time I did the entire time. The resort charged $25 per pack. Grrr...

I actually needed more casual tank tops. I knew I'd mostly be living in my bathing suit and dresses at night, so I didn't bring a whole lot of casual clothes, but I definitely need another tank top in the mix.

Why did I bring like 6 pairs of socks? Seriously?!

More sunscreen. I had 4 spray cans (for 3 weeks). Yeah, that didn't last very long. Bring the cream and apply that before you go out, then when you get lazy on the beach or at the pool and need to reapply, use the spray. It's so convenient but you go through it so fast.

I wish I had had 2 strapless bras. I wore mine all the time and it was getting pretty nasty by the end of the trip.

So happy I brought tons of underwear!

Does that mean you brought sneakers too? What were you going to wear 6 pairs of socks with...flip flops? LOL.

Leave the sneaks at home (unless you plan on working out of course!)...if you're hitting the town during the day...bring a comfy pair of sandals instead!

a funnel for our sand ceremony! our vases had small openings, and we had to scramble on wedding day to make a cone funnel out of some extra cardstock.

more bathing suits. i was so intent on not getting tan lines that i had 2 bandeau swimsuits that i had to alternate between all week (we arrived on saturday, wedding wasn't until thursday, and my dress was strapless). they were always still a bit damp when i put them on. yuck. (and i second LOTS of sunscreen. we went thru one whole spray can in about a day and a half!)

this one will sound funny, but desitin, or some other kind of diaper-rash kind of ointment, LOL! the day everyone decided to take a long walk into town i was wearing a dress (oh how i wish i had shorts on!) and it was at least 95 degrees out ... the combination of inner thigh "chub-rub" and sweat resulted in some seriously painful chafing, which was hard to recover from when you're almost always wet or sweaty in mexico! obviously i needed to get over it quickly or nookie would have been near impossible (not to mention it didn't look particularly attractive). i used a combo of triple antibiotic ointment and baby powder to get rid of it before wedding day!

haha!!! you crack me up! i get the chub-rub chafing too if i wear a dress is 95 degrees and walk the town!! not a good idea, AT ALL!!

great tips, thanks :)

Thank you for this thread!

Still have sometime before I leave, but one of my favorite things to pack is a cheap, clear, over the door shoe organizer. You can find them at Target for like $5. I hang it over the bathroom door and use it for random toiletries, belts, extra cords, keys, any kind of random items.

Its especially great for cruises since you have limited space anyways. Plus, it helps keep everything organized and easy to grab without cluttering the room or taking valuable counter space. Then at the end of the trip you can just trash it.

This is the best thread ever! There are so many things I did not even think about! Thanks so much ladies...and I thought I would be fine with dresses all week. I totally forgot about the chub rub! ha! Ouch, it is no fun! Thanks Mummergirl!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
