Hi ladies!

Just wanted to introduce myself - I've been reading the thread for like a week now, and this is my first post! My FI and I are confirmed at The Royal PDC on Nov. 4th, 2010. I've learned so much from this thread (it helped me decide on the location), so thanks already for all the great info you all have given me. A couple questions for you all:

1) Which photographers did you all decide on? I'm kicking around like 5 right now.

2) Has anyone worked with Rebekah? She's my stateside WC, and she's been super fast.

So excited to get to know you all!

Congrats and welcome!

I am using Vincent from Del Sol Photography. They have been great to work with so far and they have wonderful reviews from past brides on this site.

I also have Rebekah as a WC, she has been pretty good so far. I have only been working with her for about a month because the girl I was originally working with left.

Happy planning!

There was not a lot of information on this forum about the hotel we stayed at and were married at but The Gran Porto Real was awesome!! I would definetly go back there again and everyone we brought with us said the same thing. The location was the best that I had been to in my 3+ trips to Playa. You girls will not be sorry you chose these hotels to be married in. Lots to do since we just got back today but feel free to ask me any questions and I will try and answer any I can. =)
Congrats!! So glad to hear that everything went well - share some pics when you get them!!

I'm a little concerned about the time of there ceremony. It's supposed to be 6pm but I would like to move it forward. Does anyone know what time the sun sets in October? I don't want to miss the sunset but don't want it to get dark too soon or worse, during the ceremony.

Thanks so much in advance! Everyone has been SO much help already!
Welcome, Nikki!!

Welcome to the November crew, Kerri!

I am using Nathaniel Thompson - I looked partly on pricing and photographic style. Other frontrunners were Samuel Luna and Kate Harrison.

my girlfriend packed 2, 4L (uh...2, 1 Gallon) of distilled water into her luggage last month to Ixtapa because she needs it for her medication. But I'm not sure about individual water bottles, since they might think you might be selling them...?

Unless you would like a particular brand you don't think they have there, an option is picking them up at Mega (Mexico's version of Walmart) or Walmart when you arrive. They aren't too far (approx. $6 cab ride from the Royal).

When we went a couple of years back, bottled water was readily availble in room, at the front lobby, in the "snack canoes" on the way to the beach, and the 24 hour snack room or the bars. They weren't really large bottles.

If you want to personalize them, you could ask for the label measurements and make them larger accordingly.

Hey girls, just wanted to post Zulma's response for my question on the ceremony musician:

Response: "He doesnâ€t speak English please send me your needs

Suggestion for songs:

Bridesmaids song

Bride song

Song for signing of certificate (couple and witnesses)

Song as a wedding march"

Also, she confirmed for me that you can do a sand ceremony with the legal ceremony.

Hope this guy knows what Canon in D is! I think I'll make a CD just in case...

Hope that helps. Just glad I got a response! Yay!

I'm going to have someone sing the Lord's Prayer-the one that starts--Give us this day, our daily bread, you said you would...

i'm planning to buy some tulle or organza to add some color to the huppah - maybe i'll just buy some extra fabric so there's enough to tie some onto the tiki torches, too.

Great! When I buy my chair sashes, I will buy extra to tie around the tiki torches.

Take note to their comment in their blog, "****IMPORTANT NOTE FOR FUTURE ROYAL BRIDES**** Please have your ceremony set up like this example, bride + groom + officiant at the edge of the gazebo, bridal party, guests and family outside. When choosing to have everybody inside, even when your party is small, the light conditions are very hard and not as pretty as this idea. :)

I wonder if the white runner and the candles were included because I know about you guys but I love it!

Thanks for sharing!

Welcome to the forum! We are still working on our photographer. Julie is my WC and she's been wonderful!

Lisa, you can print your labels and take them with you. Carrying the water on may be so heavy (and could make you pay extra.) You can swipe water at the resort or get it from Walmart. You can put your labels on there.

Okay ladies,

I need to vent. One of my FI coworkers told him Thursday that she had been trying to get in touch with the travel agent for about two weeks and her calls have yet to be answered. WTF? I had to call and show my butt. When I called, I found out that she was on her first day of vacation. I wasn't even aware that she was going to be out and wasn't going to be able to book during that time. Also, the prices of the trip have gone up over the past couple of weeks so of course the trip for my FI's coworker has increased.

Next,

I've been in touch with Ivan (DJ) over the past month or so. He's been really great at answering questions. About a week or so ago, I emailed him the changes we want to make to the contract and told him we had the down payment for the dance floor and services and guess what? I haven't heard from him. I even sent a follow up email and still haven't heard from him. Why is it hard to give people money?

I think I know which song I want to come in to but I may have to shorten it. I don't want to cut off my favorite part of the song because it's later. Does anyone know about how long it takes to enter the gazebo?

Glad to have you all!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
