There was not a lot of information on this forum about the hotel we stayed at and were married at but The Gran Porto Real was awesome!! I would definetly go back there again and everyone we brought with us said the same thing. The location was the best that I had been to in my 3+ trips to Playa. You girls will not be sorry you chose these hotels to be married in. Lots to do since we just got back today but feel free to ask me any questions and I will try and answer any I can. =) Congrats!! So glad to hear that everything went well - share some pics when you get them!! Quote: Originally Posted by RunningBride24 Hey ladies! I don't want to miss the sunset but don't want it to get dark too soon or worse, during the ceremony. Thanks so much in advance! Everyone has been SO much help already! Welcome, Nikki!! My FI and I are confirmed at The Royal PDC on Nov. 4th, 2010. I've learned so much from this thread (it helped me decide on the location), so thanks already for all the great info you all have given me. A couple questions for you all: 1) Which photographers did you all decide on? I'm kicking around like 5 right now. 2) Has anyone worked with Rebekah? She's my stateside WC, and she's been super fast. So excited to get to know you all! Welcome to the November crew, Kerri! I am using Nathaniel Thompson - I looked partly on pricing and photographic style. Other frontrunners were Samuel Luna and Kate Harrison.

Randi and I are getting married on the same day, but her ceremony is before mine. Our receptions start at the same time but are in different places (inside and mine is on the beach). My WC said that they keep all weddings as separate as possible...I guess it's the downfall to getting married in paradise (and one that I can deal with)!!! I think I'm WAY late but it's very exciting!! And there are so many ladies coming up who are heading that way too - I totally cannot wait to see everyone's pictures!!!!

  12. You are so funny RaychelRae! I have a feeling that you will be on this 'perfect-shoe-hunt' right up until you get married! I do love all the shoes you've found, as well. They are similar to the style that I am thinking about - and perhaps even fuschia, too! Best of luck and I will stay tuned to see what you come up with (and to get my own ideas!!)
  13. My bridal store starts alterations a month before the wedding - feels a tad bit tight on time to me, especially since I will be super busy, but they do it that way b/c of the whole weight thing....

I was told it can be done for mine and I am definitely going to do it. Have you found shoes yet?? I wanted to make sure I did not ask questions that may have already been answered several times, lol. This forum, and the ladies on it, have been so helpful! I initially wanted to do a DW so I would not have to plan anything, doesn't seem to be the case! My FI and I are from different religious backgrounds so we are having a religious cermony of three hundred guests in Vancouver, and aprox 35-50 guests in Playa. I went from not wanting to plan a wedding to having to plan two weddings! To add to that, we too have had to change our wedding date from April 2011 to Nov 2010 due to price difference for our guests. I'm sure you can imagine that mad scramble I'm going through now trying to plan two weddings in seven months! I have stayed at the Royal before so am familiar with ground layout, etc. Some of the questions I do have: 1. Re lounge furniture - I saw a post that mentioned that they used the Royal's for $250-300. I was initially going to rent mine from another outfit that charged aprox $2000 (used by several other posters). Can someone give me more info about the Royal's lounge furniture and how it compares. 2. Re DJ - does the Royal use DJ Doremixx? If so, is it cheaper to book him privately, even while paying the $350 vendor fee 3. I have not received any communication from an WCs. Everything was booked through a travel agent. Is this normal? 4. I'm in the same boat as many other ladies - the Luxury Package is what I initially was going to go for, but there are alot of services - mani/pedi, hair/makeup, photo, etc, that I will not use - are we still able to book a four course private reception? Lastly, I have not posted enough to open the attachments. Can someone be kind enough to email the wedding and price checklist, and this cake list that everyone is talking about, lol. [email protected] Thanks a bunch ladies! Welcome! As for your DJ services questions, booking him through the resort or privately costs right around the same (850-ish, or at least when I booked) - if you went through the resort you would have to pay the vendor fee on top of that. My understanding is that if you if you don't get one of the packages (ie Luxury), and you do a la carte, that you would pay for the reception as well (a per person fee). I'm sure one of the other ladies can chime in on that one, if I'm not right. When in November are you getting married??
  17. Thanks so much ladies!!! Quote: Originally Posted by dsantos_07 I love this!!!! Do you mind sending the template for your invite? Also, do you mind sharing the cost? My email is: [email protected] thank you so much Daniella - I will do my best to get the template to you; I think what you mean is just emailing the file that we used? They ended up costing a little bit more than I had planned - we originally wanted fuschia envelopes but they were on back-order so went w/light aqua and I bought envelope liners. In total they came to right around $250 (w/o shipping, those suckers were $1 each to mail!!) - which is by no means horrible but is around $5/invite. That includes custom printing. So, you could have it a bit cheaper if you printed on your own and didn't get liners, etc.
  18. Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be able to finally share my invites with you all! I was inspired by so many of you, and 'stole' bits and pieces to our invites! We used Cards & Pockets, which I would highly recommend - they are very responsive, affordable, and so nice! We used fuschia for the pocketfold, placed on light aqua mats. We designed the invitation ourselves and had them custom printed through C&P. It was definitely more work that I thought, putting them all together, but I am very happy with the end result. The monogram was done by Aylee (ayleebits.com). We also used a light aqua envelope and had a liner that had some fuschia swirls, to tie all together. So, here you go!! (they are a little big!) We sent an invite to our photographer, who was kind enough to take these shots and send them to me (shout out, Nathaniel Thompson!).
